This post shows how use Tivoli Monitoring facilities to automatically send a message to do just that. I assume you are familiar with the Tivoli Enterprise Portal Situation and Policy editors and will not go into great detail about them. Here are the steps: ... [More]
What can be better that a warm place on a cold day? I've lived in North Carolina in the United States my whole life, and except for the occasional ice storm, it never really gets very cold. However, I do enjoy a nice fire in the fireplace, if for nothing more that toasting marshmallows when the coals die down. Within the System p world, there can also be confusion over the metrics physb and physc. Basically, here are the definitions... [More]

The HMC Base agent v18.104.22.168 Beta is now available as a part of the Open Beta Drivers for ITM vNext. The major enhancement to this release is new attribute groups and attributes that monitor CPU utilization for Servers, CPU_Pools, and LPARs. This might eliminate your need to run the CEC Base agent, which depends on collecting CPU data directly from all the LPARs. The CEC Base agent requires LPARs be in a monitored state. This means the LPARs must be running AIX/VIOS and the agent must be able to communicate with the XMTOPAS daemon in each.... [More]

Issue: Pre ITCAM for J2EE 6.1 FP6, support for the application status attribute was limited to the following J2EE Application Servers: WebSphere, JBoss, and Oracle. As a result, within the Application Health workspace, EJB and Web applications running in WebLogic servers could not be monitored - EJB applications did not appear, and Web applications only appeared with an Application Status of Unknown. Without the support of the Application status attribute, situation thresholds were unable to be set against these individual EJB or Web based... [More]
