One of the most common errors received when using the Server Dashboard in the JazzSM environment, is the message: CTJSD201E - Unable to establish communications with the data provider server It is a generic message issued when the connector fails reaching the data provider, in our case TEPS, but it may have indeed several root causes. 1) ITM Data provider not available Most common cause is that the data provider on TEPS side is really not available. In order to verify this option, you can run a quick test directly... [More]
While upgrading my JazzSM 1.1 environment, using silent installation method, I experienced some issues that initially prevented the successful completion of the process. Doing a quick search I realized that very similar scenarios have been also faced by other people, for this reason, once I resolved the problem, I wanted to share this experience so that you can take advantage of it in case you are currently struggling with the same issue (but it can be a good reading in case you are planning to upgrade your JazzSM 1.1 in the short term).... Most of the time installation failures that occurs during the installation of JazzSM components, depends on very common root causes, like file system space shortage, missing authorizations or missing pre-requisites. Despite of this, some time it may not be trivial to figure out the root cause, due to the meaningful amount of steps and elements involved in the installation process. A first hint is provided by the error messages issued by the Installation Manager GUI, that shows an excerpt from the log file. From the GUI you have the... [More]

It is important to note that each service in the Jazz for Service Management (JazzSM) bundle has a dependency on WebSphere Application Server (WAS). The mapping between the JazzSM release and the version of WAS (depending on the platform) can be found here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27038732 However, the key requirement that often goes unnoticed is the need for WAS Base bundle for installing any service in the JazzSM package. There are different flavors of WAS available, for example, WebSphere Application Server... [More]

This blog will provide a step-by-step procedure to check the content store database (default = TCRDB) connection. In a nutshell the TCRDB holds the report formats. If the connection to the content store database is not established, you will not be able to access reports. The TCRDB is NOT the same as the TDW (or Warehouse) database which holds the ITM warehouse data. A successful connection to the TCRDB helps you access the "Tivoli Common Reporting" portal through DASH or stand-alone. This is an important check after the TCR... [More]
Hello folks, It's a new month and I'm back again with another quick blog for TCR that I hope you'll find useful. This issue can occur on any release of JazzSM (TCR) mainly when LDAP is used and the LDAP users access the TCR portal. Example: username = test belongs to group name =... [More]
