Tivoli Performance Analyzer is a support component installed on ITM. ( IBM Tivoli Monitoring. )
This component ( ITPA as it is also called ) gets it's data from the historical database ( TDW ) and does it's analysis, and forecasts for various agents like the OS, ITCAM, DB2 , Oracle, and SystemP.
Here in this blog - I will just refer to one such attribute i.e the CPU Utilization on a Linux server and how the data would show up on the ITPA.
The prerequisites are that the OS Agent be configured to be monitored by ITM, and historical collections be configured by the Warehouse and Summarization agents. ( In this blog I have an Linux OS Agent 'lz' configured to be monitored by the ITM )
ITPA comes out-of-the-box with a few default tasks that gets installed when the ITPA Application and domain support gets installed. Here the CPU Utilization is a default out-of-box- task and below is one such snapshot of this task on the TEP GUI.
User would click on the Performance Analyzer Warehouse Agent on the navigator bar in the TEP GUI - to view the tasks configured. In this case I have only configured the CPU Utilization and the CPU Consumption. Next in order to view the charts and graphs rendered by the Performance Analyzer, user would right click on the OS and select the " CPU Utilization Forecast " as shown below.
Click on the chain link in the upper panel in the right - should bring up the Utilization analysis and prediction panel. ( see snapshot of a sample below )
