Right behind my house is an old railroad line that has been converted into a hiking and biking trail called the American Tobacco Trail, and about a mile down, a creek runs under the trail. Of course, several other smaller creeks and run-offs converge to form this creek, and years ago, the railroad owners built a couple of pipes to allow the creek to keep flowing under the railroad tracks. After a big rain, the creek swells up and the flow through the pipes increases, but I don't have a way to know which of those little creeks are contributing how much to the overall flow. And if these big pipes ever fill up, we will have some major problems!

In response to several users who were very interested in this information, we added a new workspace with additional attributes to display which NPIV clients are using how much bandwidth on each Fibre Channel port. To get the interim fix, installable on top of the VIOS Premium agent v126.96.36.199, that provides this new function plus a number of bug fixes, go here:

With this interim fix, in the Storage--Fibre Channel workspace, each port now has a link to a new Port Utilization workspace that displays these views for that port:

NPIV Bandwidth Utilization
The new attributes are:
Virtual_IF_Bytes_Rate - Bytes per second over the virtual Fibre Channel interface during the sample.
Physical_IF_Bandwidth - The maximum bandwidth of the Fibre Channel device in bytes.
VoB - Physical bandwidth used by the NPIV Client as a percentage of the Fibre Channel
To see the new workspace, start with the Storage--Fibre Channel workspace, click on any of the links to the left of the port name to pop up a menu and
select "Port Utilization..." For example:
