ITCAM SAP agent is causing ITM-Failed_get_salr_alert_acknowledge messages in the system logs

Problem

SAP monitoring agent is at 7.1.1 FP2. Many of the following messages are appearing in the SAP system log for agent user IBMMON_AGENT.

ITM-Failed_get_salr_alert_acknowledge-CALL_INVALID

ITM-Failed_get_salr_alert_acknowledge-AID_INVALID

ITM-Failed_get_salr_ms_get_directory-MONISET_IS_EMPTY

Cause

In 711 Fix Pack 2, a new feature was introduced to log the SAP Standard Function Module's exceptions and write a subsequent log entry into SAP System Logs. 

This is intended to be used for troubleshooting, to help in identifying the errors which occur in SAP Standard Function

If you have no external symptoms, then you can ignore these log messages. It is possible that these log messages are issued even if there is not a real problem, for example, if in a specific data collection interval there are no new Alerts to be captured. This can be normal.

If you want to stop these messages from occurring follow steps in Solution section below.

Solution

The syslog alerts issue has been fixed in SAP Agent 7.1.1 FP3 and higher. 

Customers can disable these alerts starting with SAP Agent 7.1.1 FP3 version. Upgrade the SAP monitoring agent to the latest available fix level and then disable syslog alerts by executing the following steps:

1. Log in to SAP GUI

2. Execute Transaction code 'SE16'

3. Give table name '/IBMMON/ITM_CNFG'

4. Click on 'Create Entries' (F5)

5. Give parm_name = 'DISABLE_SYSLOG_ALERTS' AND value_char = 'YES'

6. Click on Save
