IBM Performance Management is a family of Cloud and On Premises offerings that provide lightweight, up-to-date monitoring of your systems and applications. A number of agents are available for many popular types of servers.
But, of course, every infrastructure is different, and you might find that you have a custom server for which IBM does not ship an agent. Now, with the release of Agent Builder, you can also monitor this server using Performance Management - including, if necessary, its Cloud resources.
In-house web server or database? Mature transaction system that has been in operation for over a decade? With Agent Builder, you can make an agent to monitor anything. In theory, one could very well monitor a fish tank, displaying water level and temperature in a Performance Management dashboard and triggering notifications if the pump is not working properly!
Your agent can monitor information from a number of sources, such as:
- Command return codes or script output
Agent Builder was previously available for IBM Tivoli Monitoring. It has now been extended to support Performance Management. If you have custom agents for Tivoli Monitoring, you can use the new version to rework and upgrade them so they can work with Performance Management.
