MQ Monitoring agent: KMQ.IRA.AGENT.QUEUE

Technical Blog Post

Abstract

MQ Monitoring agent: KMQ.IRA.AGENT.QUEUE

Body

You may wonder why a queue called KMQ.IRA.AGENT.QUEUE.XXXXXXXXX (XXXXXX is a serial of random number) had been deleted and recreated by MQ agent.

Two main questions may arise:
1. Is this queue used by MQ agent?
2. Why the queue had been deleted and recreated?

Basically MQ agent send PCF messages to WebSphere MQ (now IBM MQ) to get resource data and statistics.
MQ agent uses KMQ.IRA.AGENT.QUEUE or KMQ.IRA.AGENT.QUEUE.XXXXXXXXX (dynamic queue automatically created in case KMQ.IRA.AGENT.QUEUE is not create manually) as reply queue to store data returned from the WebSphere MQ queue manager.
It is a dynamic queue that should be deleted automatically when connection completes.
