I like those great dinner-in-minutes recipes. They're easy to follow and you get a great reward at the end. In the same spirit, we created a tutorial for IBM Performance Management on Cloud: easy, quick, and rewarding.
You can see the KPIs for your managed system in minutes. When I tried it, I instantly saw that my system was continually using too much memory. Time to add a pinch more.
After registering for a Performance Management trial or paid subscription on IBM Service Engage, you're ready to go.
Gather your ingredients: Download and unpack the installation archive file for Windows, which has all the Windows-based agents* that you can choose from for installation.
Follow the recipe: Install the Windows OS agent. (Many agents require configuration after installation; Windows OS is one that does not.)
Enjoy: Launch the Performance Management console and view the status of your newly managed system in the dashboard, and drill down to detailed dashboards for granular metrics.
The recipe is on our IBM developerWorks Performance Management wiki at http

* Agents take data samples at regular intervals from the applications that they're monitoring and send them to your cloud-based monitoring infrastructure for the dashboard and event notifications. The installation archive files are unique to your subscription because embedded in them is the https address of your monitoring infrastructure, aka your Performance Management server. After the agent is installed and started, it connects to your server automatically.
