Is there a way similar to below? If not, how would I monitor APM's availability.. We have ITNM that can be used using SNMP utils on server to monitor processes however certain processes are java processes and ITNM only gets first 64 characters of the command line.. So we cannot use that as well.
1. Heart Beat alerts for APM ..
- In ITM, we used to setup a "heartbeat alert" to omnibus. the threshold was set against "local time" attribute of Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server .. ie. If Seconds (Local Time) <60 (7.5mins interval x 2 samples) then send event to Omnibus. Omnibus then had a trigger which pretty much said "If this situation event is NOT received in last 15mins, raise an alert to team X".
- I personally dont think APM allows doing similar thing as APM Server Attribute/Group doesnt exist in Situations. Can you please confirm?
PS - I dont want to use an agent based alert as agent can go down and send us false alerts.
