Today we're going to look at Agent Builder Agents and a specific defect that you need to be aware of. In this instance we had a customer who had configured an agent builder agent with multiple subnodes that was designed to go and do remote windows perfmon queries. In testing this seemed to work just fine, customer got all the data, but once deployed the customer encountered a problem. They could see the list of subnodes in their TEP, but when they clicked on any of them to get the perfmon value - The agent immediately crashed. They had another agent without subnodes which was working perfectly well so it seemed to be something about how it was handling these subnodes
Following a review of the logs it was identified as being an issue with the formatting of the usernames when configuring a Windows remote connection, specifically -
When username is in the form - domain\name - Then the agent is crashing every time while requesting perfmon data.
We have raised an APAR to address this - IV79936 - But in the meantime the workaround is to always make sure to use the latter format for your usernames.
I hope you find this useful, thanks for reading!
