It is not the first time that I have been asked for some customers about how avoid to miss alarms when a remote TEMS has down and there are true situations in the agents connected to that TEMS . In this document I'm going to try to describe how ITM works to avoid that some important alarms may be missed and how it can be done.
From ITM 6.2.2 the agents can work as autonomous when they lose communication with their TEMS. By default, the agents are configured... [More]

In our previous blog we spoke about the general principles of problem solving. Another aspect of a good troubleshooting technique is having the right tools or resources readily available. Some people carry a tool box in their vehicle to help them with unexpected problems encountered while traveling. Opening the tool box and finding the right tool for the job can mean the difference between calling someone for help or fixing the problem yourself and being on your way.
Once you have defined the problem, you need to consider what resources... [More]
In the early hours of September 12 th , hordes of faithful Apple aficionados stayed up late to pre-order the just-announced iPhone 6, only to find websites overwhelmed and unresponsive. The devoted crowd spent countless hours loading and reloading, often to no avail. They tried the Apple and carrier websites, the App Store app, and major retailer websites to get their pre-orders in, but everywhere were faced by intermittent crashes and hours of delays. Some took some creative approaches to beat the system such as auto-refreshing pages, but all... [More]
Previous versions of ITCAM Agent for J2EE had 2 components:
- ITCAM Agent for J2EE Monitoring Agent (ITM infrastructure, also known as J2EE TEMA Agent)
- ITCAM Agent for J2EE Data Collector (Non-ITM infrastructure)
On the other hand ITCAM Agent for J2EE 126.96.36.199.0 bundles TEMA and DC together.
The following technote describes the correct sequence of actions to upgrade ITCAM Agent for J2EE Monitoring Agent 6.x to 188.8.131.52.0:

Database administrators usually have a favorite set of queries which they run for making sure that all is well in their DB2 world.
The monitoring team is responsible for matching the performance metrics returned by the DBA's queries with attributes provided by the DB2 monitoring agent.
If the metric is provided by the agent, then the monitoring team can use it to create a situation which alerts the DBA, can start historical data collection for trending and reporting and so on.
If the attribute is not provided by the agent,... [More]
