If you are looking for DC v7.2 IF10, it is now available from Fix Central at this link:
This Interim Fix is to be used on the DC and has fixes for the migrate.bat and unconfigure.bat
scripts from the earlier IF8 interim fix. Please see the README for a complete list of defects fixed.
The message broker agent is starting fine but the java sub-process needed for monitoring brokers can't start and so no brokers can be shown in TEP. This is due to permissions of some temporary files in /tmp directory.
The temporary files mentioned have names similar to the following (actual names depend on instance name of the KQI agent and on the installation path of the monitored message broker):
ITCAM for Application Diagnostics V7.1 Fixpack 3 Interim-fix 8 (18.104.22.168-TIV-ITCAMAD-IF0008) is now available.
It contains cumulative patches for:
ITCAM Managing Server (22.214.171.124-TIV-ITCAMAD_MS-IF0008)
ITCAM for AD Agent (TEMA/DC) (126.96.36.199-TIV-ITCAMAD_WS-IF0008)
ITCAM for HTTP Servers (188.8.131.52-TIV-ITCAMAD_HTTP-IF0008)
ITCAM for AD Agent Support Files (184.108.40.206-TIV-ITCAMAD_ITM-IF0008)
Installation images and Readmes are available on Fixcentral, see the following URL for further details:
Previous versions of ITCAM Agent for J2EE had 2 components:
- ITCAM Agent for J2EE Monitoring Agent (ITM infrastructure, also known as J2EE TEMA Agent)
- ITCAM Agent for J2EE Data Collector (Non-ITM infrastructure)
On the other hand ITCAM Agent for J2EE 220.127.116.11.0 bundles TEMA and DC together.
The following technote describes the correct sequence of actions to upgrade ITCAM Agent for J2EE Monitoring Agent 6.x to 18.104.22.168.0:
WebSphere Message Broker Monitoring agent, WebSphere MQ Monitoring agent, and WebSphere MQ Configuration agent were formerly known as components of IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for Messaging.
Since version 7.0.1, they are agents delivered as a part of IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager Agents for WebSphere Messaging package which is one of the packages included into the IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager (ITCAM) for Applications bundle.
Each agent is renamed as follows:

As ITM 6.3 fix pack 3 has just been released, I know many of you will be planning upgrades in the near future. Here are a few tips and features that can really improve the speed, capacity usage and capabilities of warehousing in ITM. There is even a neat little feature to send data directly to analytics tools outside of the warehouse entirely, thus offsetting load on your database (win, win).
This blog is tacking a slightly different tact to the how to/deep dive information I usually post, but I feel this... [More]

Have you ever wondered how much data is flowing from the ITCAM Data Collector to the Managing Server, depending on what MOD level you have set?
You can change the level of detail interactively from the Application Monitor or you can schedule changes in monitoring level to happen regularly. The application server being monitored does not have to be stopped and restarted when the monitoring level is changed. This capability to dynamically change the level of detail is known as Monitoring On Demand (MOD).
There are three main levels of... [More]
Scenario 1: Debugging complex applications
You are monitoring application A, which has a J2EE component on server S and a preexisting CRM back end. The Java™ component of application A frequently exhibits idle times of several seconds, even when there is not much load on server S. You do not wish to run at L3, but you want to see in what methods the Java application is waiting. You set an Application Trap for Wait Time with a Threshold of 2,000 ms, by Request for application A, choose the Stack Trace Data Action and apply this... [More]
With Version 7.7 of IBM SmartCloud APM, you can now launch-in-context to IBM SmartCloud Analytics - Log Analysis (SCALA).
When you select a component in the navigator and enter a search term and time range, SCALA results that are specific to your selected component, are displayed in a new tab or window:
IBM SmartCloud Application Performance Management UI can now be integrated with SCALA version 22.214.171.124 or later. After integration, you can initiate searches on log... [More]
Why do you use MongoDB for your applications? It’s a NoSQL database, which makes it great for unstructured data and an ideal solution to major problems. It’s also touted as ideal for mobile and social apps, product catalogs, content management, reference data, and many other applications. Perhaps you’re simply writing a Node.js app and it’s the only logical database to use.
But if you’re like most application developers, you chose MongoDB because you need a very reliable solution in an unstable... [More]
