IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.2.3 FixPack 1 introduced a first stage of convergence between Unix OS Agent (KPX) and Premium Agent (KPX) on AIX platform. The new KUX agent introduced a set of metrics coming from the Premium Agent as described in the following link: Attributes The data collection of these metrics is done by a new daemon (aixdp_daemon) that is controlled by the Unix OS Agent and it is enabled by default and can be controlled (locally or remotely using tacmd CLI) using the KUX_AIXDP configuration variable. The data collection of... [More]

Todays’ IT environments continue to grow in complexity with increasing adoption of virtualization, clouds, and mobile devices while the Customer user base demands the ability to execute transactions faster with an expectation of an expanded level of overall service and functionality. This increase in demand is challenged by the reality of our economy which forces most IT Managers to deliver within ever tightening budget constraints. Effective Application Performance Management (APM) is the only way to meet the Customer expectations and demands... [More]
Last October, IBM announced SmartCloud Foundation - a set of enabling technologies to help clients achieve disciplined visibility, control and automation across their complex and evolving infrastructures. Our latest application performance bundle will become a critical part of IBM SmartCloud Foundation and will monitor all applications through
a single pane of glass regardless of environment - cloud, virtualized,
traditional IT or hybrid deployment. The net result is an optimized environment that drives high availability and performance... [More]

This is an FAQ item and provides the step-by-step instructions for verifying an ITCAM for WebSphere Messaging agent has stopped on i5/OS systems. Before you upgrade an agent to a new version on an i5/OS system, you must delete the old versions of the agent. Make sure that the agent has stopped before you delete it. To stop an agent, from an i5/OS console, issue one of the following commands and select END: ITCAM agent for WebSphere MQ: WRKOMAMQ (Note: If the version of WebSphere MQ Monitoring agent is V350 or even earlier, issue GO OMAMQ... Whether you are planning a staged delivery to provide earlier and more steady ROI or you are increasing domain coverage to enhance your existing End-to-End monitoring, there are several capacity constraints you should keep in mind when planning the incremental deployment. It is much better to be aware of the constraints and plan for them than to try to revive a broken production environment; the article listed on the following wiki page details the constraints you need to be aware of and provide a strategy for the incremental deployment that... In this short video, you will see how quickly we get value from Tivoli's Application Performance Management portfolio managing an SAP environment. We will focus on understanding our end user's response times. We will diagnose and repair a problem that affects the performance of the SAP application. We will look at end user response times, then availability and performance metrics for the client, transaction, server, and application to determine root cause of a perceived end user response issue. <<... Here's a link to a useful IBM Education Assistant flash module that covers debugging communications issues between ITCAM for Application Diagnostics version 7.1 and the transaction collector (as found in ITCAM for Transactions) using the Transactions Tracking API (TTAPI). As well as ITCAM for AD 7.1, these instructions can also be applied to ITCAM for WebSphere 6.1, although be aware that the directory paths will be different for that version.
