On-demand self service provisioning of z/OS software
Provides repetitive and automated processes to z/OS® application developers to provision z/OS software. Provisioning of z/OS software can be driven by application programmers in a self service manner from z/OSMF graphical web based user interface or through enterprise market place portals using z/OSMF REST APIs.
Optimized control for users and system programmers
Eliminate the need for system programmers to be in the mainline path of provisioning by allowing users to drive provisioning and obtain z/OS computing resources. This enables system programmers to retain both control and flexibility by confirming resource allocation definition and pre-approving privileged user operations required during the provisioning process.
Catalog creation and resource tracking
Create service catalogs with customized z/OS software subsystem services that exploit the multi-tenancy and rapid elasticity of IBM z/OS. Track provisioned z/OS software subsystem instances and associated resources through service instance registry.
Policy control to free up system programmers
Predefined policies and resource pools allow traditional z/OS system programmers to maintain control of system resources, but no longer require their presence during the allocation process.
Workflow authoring tool
Build a new, or modify previously created workflows, with a workflow authoring tool and editor. Write workflows with little or no knowledge of XML; the tool guides you through various tasks to create a z/OSMF workflow. You can also export workflow steps from one workflow to another.
The minimum required hardware prerequisite is IBM Z® systems z10™ or subsequent 64-bit z/Architecture® processors.
