Gary Puchkoff is a Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM in the z/OS Operating System. He was an inventor of specialty engines for z/OS (zAAPs), a key contributor to WebSphere Application server at its inception, the principal architect of z/OSMF (the z/OS Management Facility) and many of its features, and recently a key contributor to z/OS Container Extensions (running Linux on z inside z/OS). He holds more than 20 patents or pending patents. Gary likes to tell people that it all started when he enabled the DATACLAS keyword in JCL... Gary has been with IBM, located in Poughkeepsie for over 35 years.

z/OS Container Extensions
One of the most exciting additions to z/OS in the last year has been the ability to run Linux on z applications in a z/OS started task. This capability is called z/OS Container Extensions.
