Support for Legacy OPSDK Java APIs

Legacy OPSDK Java APIs (OPSDK) were used to create custom deliverables for OpenPages. Starting in OpenPages GRC 7.0.0 a new framework for customization, including new public APIs (GRC API) was introduced. Any new development should be done in the GRC API; the OPSDK is a legacy API not being enhanced for external use. What are the Legacy OPSDK Java APIs? OPSDK (OpenPages Software Development Kit) is a set of legacy Java API packages provided by the OpenPages platform. It is organized under the Java packages: com.openpages.sdk.* The OPSDK was widely used to implement customization to the OpenPages platform prior to the GRC API introduction with OpenPages GRC 7.0. What they are not: Not to be confused with the Public Java APIs (GRC API) or the GRC REST API introduced in V7.0.0. The Public APIs are fully supported public interfaces for the OpenPages platform for external consumers. The public APIs are organized under Java package: com.ibm.openpages.api.* They have published documentation, example code, training courses and community support. Any enhancements in the future would only be available through the GRC Public APIs. GRC API Documentation may be found here http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27048640. Previous public webservices APIs under the name "OpenAccess" were deprecated in the OP V7.0.0 RFA in December 2013 and are not supported in later releases. Limited Usage Existing customers that have legacy code developed with the OPSDK can expect that it will continue to function as-is, unless there is a deprecation notice (e.g. in the case of Fujitsu Interstage BPM workflows). Customers that have already been enabled on usage of the OPSDK, may continue to author triggers or helpers with the OPSDK. All customers are encouraged to adopt the official GRC APIs from OP 7.0.0 for any new development. Exceptions can be made if directed by IBM OpenPages Development to use a particular OPSDK feature for a solution in cases where a GRC API is not available or appropriate for the use-case in the version of OpenPages they are using. Support Statement IBM Standard Support (Passport Advantage) will support the GRC Public APIs on a best effort basis. This entitlement does not cover troubleshooting, writing or customizing client’s code. Standard Support will not cover custom code written with the OPSDK in this context. However, customers can purchase Accelerated Value Program (AVP) Support (https://www-01.ibm.com/software/support/acceleratedvalue/) to provide additional support in troubleshooting client’s custom code. Clients can purchase a custom IBM Support Value Add Offering in as short as 8-hour increments see https://www.ibm.com/us-en/marketplace/technical-services-for-ibm-openpages/details#product-header-top If customers/services with AVP support and with a valid limited usage of the OPSDK report issues against the OPSDK classes or methods through an official IBM Support ticket they will be investigated, and support will be best effort with fixes only considered for regressions. If Development determines that the behavior is a regression it can be treated as a defect. If a corresponding public API exists that can be used instead, IBM OpenPages Development will request the Public API be used.  Product enhancements or RFE's specifically for the OPSDK will not be considered, but additions and enhancements to the OPSDK may be made on behalf of internal OpenPages development requirements as the OpenPages Platform evolves. Backwards Compatibility Best effort will be made to keep the existing OPSDK classes and method signatures backwards compatible for the foreseeable future. Notice: this policy is subject to change, and if so official deprecation notices will be published. The Development team does not provide an automated migration of custom code written on the OPSDK to GRC API. Documentation Documentation for the OPSDK is not generally available. Javadocs can be provided upon request to Support, and only for major versions, OpenPages Fix Pack and Interim Fix releases will not have JavaDocs for the OPSDK. No training, sample code or enablement for the OPSDK will be provided. Customers can enable developers on the Public APIs using existing training courses.
