Description
API Connect V10
API Connect V10 extends support for full-lifeycle API management with the following features that can increase the productivity of organizations that are pursuing API-led innovation:
- Secure socializing GraphQL endpoints
Support for GraphQL endpoints enables organizations to register GraphQL schemas in a unified catalog along with their REST and SOAP APIs, including GraphQL impact analysis on backend services. This enables API product managers to assign plans to provide differentiated API product offerings, including protecting backend GraphQL endpoints from being overwhelmed with highly intensive queries. Organizations can then leverage GraphQL in the same trusted manner as their ongoing API management program.
- Automated API behavior testing
API Connect V10 automates the creation of test cases based on the semantics of the APIs. This intelligent feature can accelerate teams' ability to build robust quality measurements, leading to faster development cycles and overall greater trust in the API program. After automation, users can leverage a no-code visual composer to further add and extend test cases. While test cases can be run within the context of the user interface, an even greater value is provided through the DevOps-ready plug-in that can be used as part of a continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipeline. Users can leverage these tests in their production environment to monitor the ongoing quality and integrity of their APIs.
- Enterprise-scale, cloud-native operations
Enhancements for native OpenShift Value Units/Broker Connection operator support provide a standard mechanism to automate the container lifecycle. This advancement streamlines the DevOps process through benefits like self-healing continuous availability and simplified backup and restore.
- Extended support for high-resiliency disaster recovery patterns
Adding to other patterns introduced in prior release, API Connect V10 simplifies dual data center clustering.
- Security enhancements:
- Tracking and auditing of user activity for security and compliance
- Stronger security to protect APIs through Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.3
- Flexibility, without compromising security, for subsystem communication with 1-way TLS and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) Web Token
- Enhanced platform security through simple certificate rotation operations
- Scalability and performance improvements
Optimizations streamline the management of extremely large API catalogs, of particular benefit to mature enterprises that are scaling out their API programs aggressively. These enhancements can benefit global organizations with extended hybrid topologies and diverse consumer groups.
- New automated migration tooling
Organizations migrating from API Connect V5 can directly upgrade to API Connect V10 by taking advantage of an automated migration utility, which provides flexibility to migrate subsets of the API catalog to reduce risks and costs across multiple project teams. Organizations can also take advantage of new translation and backward-compatibility features, to streamline upgrade into the modern API Gateway.
DataPower Gateway V10
DataPower Gateway V10 extends support for security, control, integration, and optimized access to mission-critical on-premise and cloud workloads through the following enhancements:
- Securing event-based applications
Many organizations are looking at event-based architectures as a means to speed up their business responsiveness. DataPower V10 extends the multiprotocol gateway support by introducing native connectivity to Kafka and AMQP. These features provide a unified means to enforce security policies across microservices and event-based workloads. It also enables organizations to bridge between different protocols, enabling them to accelerate delivery of new solutions without modifying existing applications.
- Improved security, scalability, and performance:
- TLS 1.3 support helps protect an organization's DataPower Gateway investment with performance, security, and privacy enhancements, including hardening of the TLS protocol to remove components that could pose a security vulnerability.
- DataPower Gateways can support TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3, which enables you to gradually move services to TLS 1.3.
- Enterprise-scale, cloud-native operations
Support for Kubernetes operators provides a standard mechanism to automate the container lifecycle. This advancement streamlines the DevOps process through benefits like self-healing, continuous availability, and simplified backup and restore.
- Red Hat Universal Base Images (UBI)
Organizations that are building solutions leveraging containerized deployments can benefit from a new Docker image built on Red Hat UBI, which provide greater reliability, security, and performance, including readiness with Red Hat OpenShift security policies.

Licensing
IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Information document and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs are required for all authorized use. Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage®, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance.
Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance
Licenses under the IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA) provide for support with ongoing access to releases and versions of the program. IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available. Two charges apply: a one-time license charge for use of the program and an annual renewable charge for the enhanced support that includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours), as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect.

Limited warranty
IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified operating environment, it will conform to its specifications. The warranty applies only to the unmodified portion of the program. IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the program or that IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible for the results obtained from the use of the program.
IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information on known program defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at no additional charge. For further information, see the IBM Support Guide.
IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the original licensee acquires the program (warranty period).
Program technical support
Technical support of a program product version or release will be available as described below as long as your Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) is in effect.
Effective with DataPower Gateway firmware V7.6, DataPower introduces a Continuous Delivery (CD) model to ensure quick response to client needs. DataPower CD will consist of two releases: a CD release approximately once per quarter, and a Long Term Support (LTS) Release every two years. DataPower Gateway LTS releases do not include an extended support period. Only the latest CD release is supported at a given time. LTS releases are for those clients who need enhanced stability and do not wish to upgrade on the CD schedule, while CD releases are intended for those clients who need the latest in DataPower functionality.
This technical support allows you to obtain assistance (by telephone or electronic means) from IBM for product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and operation of the program product. Software Subscription and Support (Software Maintenance) also provides you with access to versions, releases, and updates (CD releases, LTS releases or fixes) of the program. You will be notified, through an announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with six months' notice.

Software Subscription and Support applies
Yes. Software Subscription and Support, also referred to as Software Maintenance, is included with licenses purchased through Passport Advantage and Passport Advantage Express. Product upgrades and Technical Support are provided by the Software Subscription and Support offering as described in the Agreements. Product upgrades provide the latest versions and releases to entitled software, and Technical Support provides voice and electronic access to IBM support organizations, worldwide.
IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support with each program license acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available.
While your Software Subscription and Support is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions, and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance by telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to your users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For additional details, see the IBM Support Guide. Software Subscription and Support does not include assistance for the design and development of applications, your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment, or failures caused by products for which IBM is not responsible under the applicable agreements.
Unless specified otherwise in a written agreement with you, IBM does not provide support for third-party products that were not provided by IBM. Ensure that when contacting IBM for covered support, you follow problem determination and other instructions that IBM provides, including in the IBM Support Guide.
