Overview
Bottom rule

Pattern-based deployment is an important component of the IBM PureApplication family of products. PureApplication patterns of expertise enable rapid deployment of pretuned and optimized cloud-enabled applications, such as mobile, business process management, and analytics in minutes with a click of a button into an on-premises IBM PureApplication System cloud application platform or into a dedicated IBM PureApplication Service off-premises private cloud.

PureApplication System with Heat open pattern automation open beta offering expands the number of patterns that can be used with PureApplication Systems to include open pattern automations (open patterns), built with Heat, to automate provisioning, managing, and monitoring open pattern workloads.

The built-in graphical Heat template editor provides an easy way to visualize and construct open pattern Heat-based templates. The built-in Git source code management system provides a convenient way to keep track of changes in open pattern artifacts, such as Heat templates and automation scripts.

Participants in the open beta offering can offer feedback on the offering capabilities, show support for future insights, and suggest additional insights. They may also learn about IBM strategy and direction, and can build skills and develop expertise. A forum for public discussion of current and future capabilities can be found at https://developer.ibm.com/answers/topics/pureapp.html.

If the open beta offering is made commercially available, participants may obtain earlier benefit and payback, gain a competitive edge, and achieve public recognition as a technology leader. Participants are encouraged to provide feedback and articulate their own requirements to IBM, with the potential to help influence the shape of the offering in the future.

PureApplication System with Heat open pattern automation open beta offering:

  • Is free of charge if you have PureApplication System W1500 and W2500 models installed with active service contracts.
  • Is not warranted.
  • Has no support of any kind.
  • Is not designed for use in a production environment.
  • May not be used for productive purposes.

The open beta offering requires three PureApplication System compute nodes allocated to a cloud group exclusively dedicated to open pattern workloads. The compute nodes in the cloud group must be fully dedicated to the beta offering and cannot be simultaneously used to host traditional PureApplication workloads.

Details of the terms and conditions of the beta offering can be found in the license files supplied when accessing the beta offering from the PureApplication System administrative console for the first time.
