Description |
IBM DB2 Administration Toolkit for z/OS the SAP Edition, V3.1 (5697-DAR) includes IBM DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS, V11.1 and IBM DB2 Object Comparison Tool for z/OS, V11.1, which work together to form a function-rich object management solution, helping to conduct quality assurance in an SAP ERP environment by comparing objects in SAP ERP database objects before they are transported from test to production.
DB2 Administration Tool can reduce the complexity of managing and executing SAP-initiated database changes, which can enable DBAs to make faster and more accurate decisions and provides important features for the administration of SAP systems. This tool provides easy, fast navigation of a DB2 catalog, allowing you to issue DB2 commands, execute utilities, and examine schema structures.
DB2 Object Comparison Tool can help conduct quality assurance and promote database object integrity when objects are transported from test to production environments. This tool also helps to identify potential risks or long-running changes.
- Reduction of the time required to verify that changes are propagated to each SAP instance. While there are seldom ad hoc changes, when SAP does change or sends instructions to change the structures, these changes (including testing) will sometimes take a long time to accomplish.
- Alerts for your DBA of any user-defined objects, usually indexes, which will be affected by applying the change.
DB2 Administration Tool V11.1 and DB2 Object Comparison Tool V11.1 added many new features, including:
- Provides the ability to implement a change from a source environment to multiple target environments. A target environment may be a different object set in the same subsystem or the same or different object in another subsystem. This allows each target environment to have a unique owner, name, or mask, or to ignore a change. You also have the flexibility to import changes to the target environments at once, or in stages, to suit your particular business needs. This ability can improve availability by enabling you to move changes into multiple environments quickly and safely.
- This release contains full management capabilities for those customers using the IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS. The DB2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS is a software offering that, together with related, prerequisite hardware, forms an integrated high-performance solution offering that is designed to work with System z to deliver dramatically faster analytic query responses transparently to users. It integrates into DB2 10 for z/OS data warehouse environments, forming a high-performance analytic query appliance powered by Netezza® technology.
For additional information, refer to Software Announcement 213-395, dated October 01, 2013 .
IBM DB2 Performance Toolkit for z/OS the SAP Edition, V2.4 (5697-M32) offers features, functions, and processes that DBAs can use to more effectively identify, diagnose, and solve performance challenges across DB2 for z/OS databases within SAP ERP environments, as well as help prevent them from reoccurring in the future.
The DB2 Performance Toolkit for z/OS the SAP Edition is composed of the following tools:
- IBM Tivoli® OMEGAMON® XE for DB2 Performance Expert on z/OS enables users to assess the efficiency of DB2 and optimize its performance, combining sophisticated response time tracking, reporting, monitoring, stored procedure, and buffer pool analysis features, as well as expert database analysis functions.
- Delivers end-to-end response-time measurement capability for heterogeneous applications accessing DB2 for z/OS data through SQL or stored procedures (PWH)
- Includes performance metrics about the separately available IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator usage
- Monitors, analyzes, and tunes the performance of DB2 subsystems
- Improves productivity with robust views of performance
- Identifies performance bottlenecks quickly and easily by using predefined rules
- Offers substantial breadth and depth of monitoring DB2 environments by combining batch reporting capabilities with real-time monitoring and historical tracking functions
- Supports an enterprise-wide integrated systems management strategy activated by the Tivoli OMEGAMON XE family
- Stores performance data and analysis tools in a performance warehouse
- IBM DB2 Query Monitor for z/OS enables users to identify problem SQL activity and includes robust statistics for SQL tuning. It can work with IBM InfoSphere® Optim Query Workload Tuner for DB2 for z/OS and IBM DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer for z/OS to enable users to customize and tune the poorly performing SQL statement or workload and to support the effectiveness of DB2 subsystems and improve overall performance. Monitors SQL activities and delivers automatic alerts to exceptional events on a monitored DB2 subsystem in real time.
- Monitors DB2 commands, host variables, and SQL CA and SQL code in real time
- Includes user-friendly ISPF, GUI, and web interfaces with SQL statistics of multiple DB2 subsystems
- Integrates with other DB2 Tools to reduce resource consumption
- Supports single sign-on for the ISPF view of data sharing group
For additional information, refer to Software Announcement 213-395, dated October 01, 2013 .
IBM IMS Extended Terminal Option Support for z/OS, V3.2 (5655-L61) is a transaction management tool designed to make implementation of IMS Extended Terminal Option more dynamic by providing a front-end interface for customization and control.
Options are stored in a VSAM data set and are loaded into the extended common service area (ECSA) at IMS startup. The same VSAM options data set can be shared by multiple IMS systems. All options can be refreshed dynamically, allowing new definitions to become active immediately. Additionally, if users code their own IMS Extended Terminal Option Support exit routines, IMS Extended Terminal Option Support for z/OS allows them to dynamically refresh the local exit routines without an IMS outage.
IMS Extended Terminal Option Support for z/OS provides support for the following terminal session types:
- 3270/SLU2
- 3286/SLU1 printer
- SLU1 console
- SLU3
- LU 6.1 ISC sessions
- SLUTYPEP devices
- Remote LTERM names
- OTMA LTERM names
IMS Extended Terminal Option Support options can be specified at a global level, which apply to all terminals, and will override any global options that are set for specific device types, LU names, or user IDs.
IMS Extended Terminal Option Support includes the following options:
- Formatting of "sign on required" and "sign on complete" screens presented to the user
- Supplying the user's own MFS format name, using IMS default formats, or maintaining consistency with the old version of IMS messages
- Setting a screen size override rather than using the screen size defined by the network
- Selecting naming conventions to be used for the user and LTERM names to be created
- Selecting names from one of several options, or defining specific names for each user ID or node that logs on to IMS
- Allowing multiple terminals to log on with the same user ID, and defining user and LTERM naming conventions for multiple user ID sign ons
- Setting idle terminal timeout values, which automatically sign off or log off a terminal after a period of inactivity
- Setting IMS terminal options for message delete and response mode
IMS Extended Terminal Option Support for z/OS, V3.2 provides the following features that are not available with the IMS Extended Terminal Option:
- Automatically initiates a transaction instead of sending the "sign on complete" message
- Automatically cleans up terminal sessions after log off, which includes deleting queued messages and exiting conversations
- Automatically signs on a terminal that logs on to IMS
- Accepts sign on information passed in VTAM® user data
IMS Extended Terminal Option Support for z/OS provides the following IMS security enhancements:
- Allows IMS Extended Terminal Option Support to perform IMS command security authorization
- Allows command plus keyword authorization checking; for example, allows a user to /START DB but not /START REGION
IMS Extended Terminal Option Support for z/OS can save CPU time and storage when all terminals in an IMS sysgen are defined to IMS Extended Terminal Option Support. The following conditions can occur when IMS Extended Terminal Option Support is implemented:
- All terminal definitions in the IMS sysgen can be removed, allowing an IMS system to perform better and use far less CPU time.
- The sizes of the IMS nucleus saving storage and the IMS checkpoint time are reduced (all terminals in the sysgen must be check-pointed).
- Productivity can improve by allowing users to dynamically define new terminals rather than waiting for monthly sysgens to add new terminals or make other changes.
IMS Extended Terminal Option Support for z/OS, V3.2 offers the following enhancements:
- Support of IMS V13
- Maintenance rollup
IBM IMS Queue Control Facility for z/OS, V3.2 (5697-N50) is a transaction management tool that helps improve message queue handling and manipulates the IMS message queues in both the shared and nonshared environments.
The primary purpose of IMS Queue Control Facility for z/OS is to prevent a queue overflow condition (in a nonshared queues environment) and to restore messages on the message queues for processing. The IMS Queue Control Facility for z/OS functions QUERY, BROWSE, LOAD, UNLOAD, and queue recovering procedures can be used in the shared and nonshared queues environment.
IMS Queue Control Facility for z/OS:
- Allows different IMS Queue Control Facility functions to run on multiple central electronics complexes (CECs) within a sysplex with other IMS Queue Control Facility servers
- Automatically detects an IMS cold start and initiates the requeue of the messages that were in the queue before the cold start
- Automatically detects an IMS warm start and initiates the requeue of the messages or offloads the messages that were in the dead letter queue before warm start
- Provides a Queue Space Utilization Notification mechanism that lets you define up to 10 areas of the total queue space to monitor for small or large messages
The tool provides:
- Queue overflow protection: This function determines when customer-specified limits are reached and when customer-specified actions are taken on IMS processes.
- Message processing: Processes messages from the IMS system log, IMS queue manager message queues, and shared queues. Selected messages can be processed based on the criteria that are specified in control statements. An output data set and a data report are produced that includes quantitative information about the selected messages.
- Recovery and maintenance functions: When a system redefinition or failure requires a cold start and messages are lost from the IMS message queue without being processed or when messages are incorrectly processed because of an application program error.
- Message requeue: Messages are required to be requeued when a system redefinition or failure requires a cold start and messages are lost from the IMS messages queue without being processed or when messages are incorrectly processed because of an application program error. In both cases, messages must be returned to the IMS message queues if the messages are to be processed or reprocessed correctly. Message queues are maintained to prevent performance degradation, to save space in the shared queues, and to prevent a buffer shortage.
- Queue maintenance: Involves examining the queues and only removing those messages that are no longer needed.
- TSO client/ISPF interface
IMS Queue Control Facility for z/OS, V3.2 offers the following enhancements:
- Support of IMS V13
- Maintenance rollup

Value Unit-based pricing
Value Unit pricing for eligible IBM System z IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA) programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth and enterprise aggregation. Each System z IPLA product with Value Unit pricing has a single price per Value Unit and a conversion matrix, called Value Unit Exhibit , for converting from some designated measurement to Value Units. Most commonly, Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the measurement designated by IBM to be converted to Value Units. Some other measurements are engines or messages. Since MSUs are the most common measurement, that measurement will be used for the remainder of this description.
Value Unit pricing offers price benefits for you. For each System z IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the required license capacity . Each of the various Value Unit Exhibits stipulate that the larger your required license capacity, the fewer Value Units per MSU you will need. Value Unit Exhibits are uniquely identified by a three-digit code and referred to using the nomenclature VUExxx, where xxx is the three-digit code.
Subsequent acquisitions of Value Unit priced programs offer additional price benefits. The quantity of each System z IPLA program that you have acquired is referred to as entitled license capacity . If you want to grow your entitled license capacity for a System z IPLA program, the calculation to determine additional needed Value Units is based upon the number of Value Units already acquired.
For each System z IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, you should:
- Determine the required license capacity, in MSUs
- Aggregate the MSUs across the enterprise
- Convert the total MSUs to Value Units, using the applicable Value Unit Exhibit
- Multiply the price per Value Unit by the total number of Value Units to determine the total cost
To simplify conversion from the designated measurement to Value Units or vice-versa, use the Value Unit Converter Tool. For additional information or to obtain a copy of the Value Unit Converter Tool, visit the Value Unit Converter Tool website
Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Units of another product.
To determine the required license capacity for the System z IPLA program you selected, refer to the Terms and conditions section.

Subscription and Support
To receive voice technical support via telephone and future releases and versions at no additional charge, Subscription and Support must be ordered. The capacity of Subscription and Support (Value Units) must be the same as the capacity ordered for the product licenses.
To order, specify the Subscription and Support program number (PID) referenced above and the appropriate license or charge option.
IBM is also providing Subscription and Support for these products via a separately purchased offering under the terms of the IBM International Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance (IAASM). This offering:
- Includes and extends the support services provided in the base support to include technical support via telephone.
- Entitles you to future releases and versions, at no additional charge. Note that you are not entitled to new products.
When Subscription and Support is ordered, the charges will automatically renew annually unless cancelled by you.
The combined effect of the IPLA license and the Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance gives you rights and support services comparable to those under the traditional ICA S/390® and System z license or its equivalent. To ensure that you continue to enjoy the level of support you are used to in the ICA business model, you must order both the license for the program and the support for the selected programs at the same Value Unit quantities.

Sub-capacity terms and conditions
For each System z IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the required license capacity . Your required license capacity is based upon the following factors:
- The System z IPLA program you select
- The applicable Value Unit Exhibit
- The applicable terms
- Whether your current mainframes are full capacity or sub-capacity
For more information on the Value Unit Exhibit for the System z IPLA program you selected, refer to the Ordering information section.

Full-capacity mainframes
In cases where full capacity is applicable, the following terms apply.
Execution based, z/OS based, full machine based: The required capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the MSU-rated capacity of the machines where the System z IPLA program executes.
For more information on mainframe MSU-rated capacities, visit
Reference based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the parent program .
Sub-capacity mainframes
In cases where sub-capacity is applicable, the following terms apply.
Execution based: The required capacity of a System z IPLA sub-capacity program with these terms equals the capacity of the LPARs where the System z IPLA program executes.
z/OS based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of z/OS on the machines where the System z IPLA program executes.
Reference based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the parent program .
Full machine based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with full machine based terms equals the MSU-rated capacity of the machines where the System z IPLA program executes.
For more information on mainframe MSU-rated capacities, refer to The IBM System z Machines Exhibit , Z125-3901, or visit the Mainframes section of the System z Exhibits website.
For additional information for products with reference-based terms, System z IPLA sub-capacity programs with reference-based terms adds value to the parent program across the environment, regardless of where in the environment the System z IPLA program executes.
An environment is defined as either a single or stand-alone machine or a qualified Parallel Sysplex®. You may have one or more different environments across the enterprise. To determine the required license capacity for each System z IPLA program with referenced-based terms, each environment should be assessed separately.
When a System z IPLA sub-capacity program with reference-based terms is used in a qualified Parallel Sysplex environment, the required license capacity of the System z IPLA program must equal with the license capacity of the parent program across the Parallel Sysplex. Qualified Parallel Sysplex refers to one:
- Where MLC pricing is aggregated across the sysplex
Sub-capacity eligibility
To be eligible for sub-capacity charging on select System z IPLA programs, you must first implement and comply with all terms of either sub-capacity Workload License Charges (WLC) or sub-capacity Entry Workload License Charges (EWLC). To implement sub-capacity WLC or EWLC, a machine must be System z (or equivalent). On that machine:
- All instances of the OS/390® operating system must be migrated to the z/OS operating systems.
- Any licenses for the OS/390 operating system must be discontinued.
- All instances of the z/OS operating systems must be running in z/Architecture® (64-bit) mode.
For that machine, you must create and submit a Sub-Capacity Report to IBM each month. Sub-Capacity Reports must be generated using the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT). For additional information or to obtain a copy of SCRT, visit the System z Software Pricing website
You must comply with all of the terms of the WLC or EWLC offering, whichever is applicable:
- The complete terms and conditions of sub-capacity WLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement - Attachment for System z Workload License Charges (Z125-6516).
- The complete terms and conditions for sub-capacity EWLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement - Attachment for IBM System z 890 and 800 License Charges (Z125-6587).
Additionally, you must sign and comply with the terms and conditions specified in the amendment to the IPLA contract - Amendment for IBM System z9® and System z Programs Sub-Capacity Pricing (Z125-6929). Once the amendment is signed, the terms in the amendment replace any and all previous System z IPLA sub-capacity terms and conditions.
Sub-capacity utilization determination
Sub-capacity utilization is determined based on the utilization of a sub-capacity eligible reference product and machine.
On/Off Capacity on Demand (CoD)
To be eligible for On/Off CoD pricing, you must be enabled for temporary capacity on the corresponding hardware, and the required contract, Attachment for IBM System z On/Off Capacity on Demand (Z125-7883) must be signed prior to use.

Statement of good security practices |
IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective. IBM does not warrant that systems and products are immune from the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
