IBM® DB2® Analytics Accelerator Loader for z/OS® , V1.1 (5639-OLA) enables you to quickly load data from DB2 for z/OS , as well as from external sources, into IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS without interrupting access to production objects while reducing CPU consumption and elapsed time.
DB2 Analytics Accelerator Loader, V1.1:
- Reduces cost and time loading external data into DB2 Analytics Accelerator
- Provides CPU and storage benefits by giving the option to load external data into DB2 Analytics Accelerator directly, without the need to load into DB2 for z/OS . This can eliminate the CPU and storage resources spent loading the data into DB2 for z/OS , when it is not desired.
- Minimizes the data load process by simultaneously loading data into DB2 Analytics Accelerator and DB2 for z/OS in one step. This can reduce data movement, time, and CPU cost over the existing two-step process.
- Directs data conversion processing to be executed under an enclave Service Request Block and such processing is authorized to execute on a zIIP specialty engine,1 which can further reduce the CPU cost associated with data loading into DB2 Analytics Accelerator.
- Improves application availability and reduces costs
- Offers the ability to load DB2 Analytics Accelerator with consistent DB2 for z/OS data to the current time or to a historical point in time without stopping update activity to the production DB2 for z/OS tables, thus eliminating application downtime
- Enables you to exploit the efficiency and speed of FlashCopy® by optionally allowing you to create a new FlashCopy consistent image copy of the data being loaded from DB2 for z/OS into DB2 Analytics Accelerator, thereby lowering costs

IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator Loader for z/OS , V1.1 (5639-OLA) provides enhanced capabilities and options when you are loading data into IBM DB2 for z/OS and IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS . These capabilities give you the flexibility to select the load options that best meet your business needs when populating data into DB2 Analytics Accelerator. Depending on the type of processing, you may experience some of the following:
- Minimized application impact when loading or refreshing DB2 for z/OS data by loading in parallel to both DB2 for z/OS and DB2 Analytics Accelerator
- Reduced overhead and simplification of the process to load data into DB2 Analytics Accelerator, thereby delivering increased savings
- Increased flexibility when performing business analytics by enabling the load of a consistent set of data with a historical point-in-time into DB2 Analytics Accelerator for query consideration
- Enhanced enterprise business analytics on IBM System z® with the ability to load non-DB2 data either directly into DB2 Analytics Accelerator or DB2 for z/OS in a format that is compatible with IBM DB2 load utility

|
DB2 Analytics Accelerator Loader for z/OS , V1.1 (5639-OLA) enables you to load operational DB2 for z/OS data into IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS . This minimizes the application impact when loading related tables into DB2 Analytics Accelerator. It also gives you the flexibility to specify a historical point-in-time as of which you want a consistent set of data to be loaded into DB2 Analytics Accelerator to meet your business needs. DB2 Analytics Accelerator Loader will use existing recovery assets to establish this consistent point-in-time data and then load it into DB2 Analytics Accelerator.
With DB2 Analytics Accelerator Loader, you can load data from external sources, including nonmainframe. Sources include data from other DB2 for z/OS systems, VSAM, IMS™ , and nonmainframe data to facilitate enterprise business analytics on System z . When data has been extracted from another source into a format that is compatible with IBM DB2 load utility, it can then be loaded into DB2 for z/OS and also into DB2 Analytics Accelerator. This type of load operation may be performed in parallel, which may improve availability and reduce system resources, such as CPU.
DB2 Analytics Accelerator Loader also allows the option of loading directly into DB2 Analytics Accelerator, thereby eliminating loading data into DB2 for z/OS . The option of loading non-DB2 data directly into DB2 Analytics Accelerator and not into DB2 for z/OS requires manual user management. This user management includes creating DB2 tables to specify table structure, application-controlled routing of queries to the accelerator, and preventing update activity. A client considering using this feature should use caution and engage IBM for guidance.
DB2 Analytics Accelerator Loader V1.1 exploits the speed and efficiency of FlashCopy by optionally allowing you to create a new FlashCopy consistent image copy of the data being loaded from DB2 for z/OS into DB2 Analytics Accelerator. DB2 Analytics Accelerator Loader uses this consistent copy as input to load the data into DB2 Analytics Accelerator, which eliminates the need to lock the production tables for update during the load.

IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator Loader for z/OS 5639-OLA Per PVU
Processor Value Unit (PVU)
PVU is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. The number of PVU entitlements required is based on the processor technology (defined within the PVU table by processor value, brand, type, and model number at the website below) and the number of processors made available to the program. IBM continues to define a processor, for the purpose of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip. A dual-core processor chip, for example, has two processor cores. The PVU table can be found at
Licensee can deploy the program using either full capacity licensing or virtualization capacity (sub-capacity) licensing according to the Passport Advantage® Sub-Capacity Licensing Terms (refer to the web page below). If using Full Capacity licensing, Licensee must obtain PVU entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores4 in the physical hardware environment made available to or managed by the program, except for those servers from which the program has been permanently removed. If using Virtualization Capacity licensing, Licensee must obtain entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores made available to or managed by the program, as defined according to the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules at
