    • Security analysts can more quickly adjust and adopt playbooks to meet their needs so they can respond more effectively. Security analysts can create more sophisticated playbooks faster with the flexibility to handle many situations and customized responses from the same playbook through a condition point.
  • IBM Cloud Pak for Security connectors (CP4S connectors) and integrations to increase visibility and context with more connectors and coverage, helping adopt a zero trust framework
    • Security analysts can leverage more threat intelligence and security solutions throughout the IBM Cloud Pak for Security platform for use across multiple security use cases, optimizing ROI from existing threat feeds and security tools that are currently deployed within an organization.
  • Introduction of IBM Cloud Pak for Security as a Service for Non-Production Environment
    • This offering delivers a dedicated test instance of the cloud service for which IBM provides infrastructure monitoring 24 hours a day, every day of the week and applies the latest software level or critical patches. Clients may use this cloud service only for internal nonproduction activities, including but not limited to testing, performance tuning, fault diagnosis, internal benchmarking, stating quality assurance activity, or developing internally used additions or extensions to the cloud service using published application programming interfaces.

Data Security capabilities on IBM Cloud Pak for Security are powered by IBM Security™ Guardium® Insights, a hub that is designed to help meet data privacy and compliance goals, as well as centralize data security visibility to understand how users are interacting across a distributed hybrid multicloud environment. Guardium Insights can analyze and prioritize data risks and help streamline and automate compliance and auditing. This can result in removing silos between data security and SOC teams to share data critical for investigation.

New in Cloud Pak for Security 1.8

  • Security analysts can:
    • Track status of cases pertaining to Risk Manager from a single place to reduce overall risk exposure
    • Have a robust overview of security use cases from all connected tools, saving hours of work gathering the same insights using individual tools
    • Easily search an active threat across their threat intelligence vendors and discover which industry, group, or other malicious indicators of compromise (IOCs) might be connected when found
    • Start working with federated search results as soon as they are processed on Cloud Pak for Security
    • Retrieve and continue analyzing previous results without waiting
    • View and search for attributes that are unique to the client environment
    • Quickly determine the who, what, and where of the event, and how their enterprise is affected
    • Incorporate human-like decision making within a single playbook and enable it to handle many situations and provide a more customized response

The IBM Cloud Pak for Security platform enables organizations to detect and respond to threats with a simple, unified experience through visibility, detection, investigation, and response.

Visibility: Unify visibility across the enterprise, security tools, and threat intelligence.

  • Risk Manager enhancements:
    • Streamlined risk management process through tracking of cases generated from the Risk Manager
    • Capability to track and update the status of a case, and assign or reassign to a specific individual or team (only for cases created from the Risk Manager)

Detection: Detect and unify threats and reduce false positives.

The Detection and Response Center (Beta) is designed to save your security teams hours of manual work by providing an overview of security use cases and security posture from all connected tools.

Note: Currently, the Beta release connects only to QRadar and public Sigma Repository to retrieve rules that are currently used by Threat Investigator.

  • View and filter the list of rules from QRadar and Sigma community in one place and view their details.
  • Run queries defined by rule tests in IBM Security Data Explorer. This applies to rules that have tests in a language or format that is supported by Data Explorer.
  • View the summary of MITRE ATT&CK and data source coverage by rules used in IBM Cloud Pak for Security.
  • Expose rules through APIs to enable components in IBM Cloud Pak for Security (such as Threat Investigator) to use them.
  • Third-party threat feeds:
    • Support for ReversingLabs and ThreatQuotient
    • Platform certification that adds accessibility features and globalization translations to the platform

Investigation: Automated investigations, run federated searches and collaborate with integrated case management.

  • Data Explorer responsiveness enhancements allow for partial results to display, enabling analysts to view data without waiting for the full result set, which can expedite investigations.
    • Process results faster and support more concurrent queries.
    • Enable analyst to view and interact with incremental results as soon as they are processed.
  • Data Explorer extended visibility provides more holistic and customizable results through support for custom properties.
    • Enable mapping of custom attributes and then use them in federated searches and investigations.
  • Threat Investigator provides automatic case investigation including Watson analysis, threat intelligence correlation, attack timeline view, and MITRE ATT&CK flow view of your ongoing investigation.

Response: Respond faster with automation playbooks and Red Hat® Ansible® integration. Respond to incidents faster with dynamic playbooks, automation, and orchestration across all teams.

  • Inbound email ingestion. Simplify and automate incident response workflows by generating and updating cases through email ingestion.
    • SOAR can ingest information by email for parsing and case creation.
  • Playbook Designer enhancements. Create more sophisticated playbooks faster with the flexibility to handle many situations and customized responses from the same playbook through a condition point.
    • A condition point can be dragged onto the playbook canvas and used to make decisions.

Terms and conditions for the licensed product

The information provided in this announcement letter is for reference and convenience purposes only. The terms and conditions that govern any transaction with IBM are contained in the applicable contract documents such as the IBM International Program License Agreement, IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement, and the IBM Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance.

This product is available only through Passport Advantage.

Licensing

IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Information document and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs are required for all authorized use. Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance.

This software license includes Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance).

Software Maintenance

These programs are licensed under the IBM Program License Agreement (IPLA) and the associated Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance, which provide for support with ongoing access to releases and versions of the program. IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available. These programs have a one-time license charge for use of the program and an annual renewable charge for the enhanced support that includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours), as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect.

Limited warranty

IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified operating environment, it will conform to its specifications. The warranty applies only to the unmodified portion of the program. IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the program or that IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible for the results obtained from the use of the program.

IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information about known program defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at no additional charge. For further information, see the IBM Support Guide.

IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the original licensee acquires the program (warranty period).

Program technical support

Technical support of a program version or release of a specific program within this offering will be available as long as:

  • The program is still supported
  • Your Software Subscription and Support for this offering is in effect

Program technical support terms

  • Technical support of a program product version or release is available for a minimum of one year from the general availability date, as long as your Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) is in effect. This enables you to obtain assistance (by telephone or electronic means) from IBM for product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and operation of the program.
  • Software Subscription and Support (Software Maintenance) also provides you with access to versions, releases, and updates of the program.
  • You will be notified, through an announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with six months' notice.

If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its PoE to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whom you acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.

For clarification, note that (1) for programs acquired under the IBM International Passport Advantage offering, this term applies only to your first acquisition of the program and (2) for programs acquired under any of IBM's On/Off Capacity on Demand (On/Off CoD) software offerings, this term does not apply since these offerings apply to programs already acquired and in use by you.

Yes. Software Subscription and Support, also referred to as Software Maintenance, is included with licenses purchased through Passport Advantage and Passport Advantage Express. Product upgrades and Technical Support are provided by the Software Subscription and Support offering as described in the Agreements. Product upgrades provide the latest versions and releases to entitled software, and Technical Support provides voice and electronic access to IBM support organizations, worldwide.

IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support with each program license acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available.

While your Software Subscription and Support is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions, and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance by telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to your users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For additional details, see the IBM Support Guide. Software Subscription and Support does not include assistance for the design and development of applications, your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment, or failures caused by products for which IBM is not responsible under the applicable agreements.

Unless specified otherwise in a written agreement with you, IBM does not provide support for third-party products that were not provided by IBM. Ensure that when contacting IBM for covered support, you follow problem determination and other instructions that IBM provides, including in the IBM Support Guide.
