Overview

Top rule

IBM® Robotic Process Automation (RPA) with WDG Automation, as previously announced in Software Announcement 220-407, dated October 6, 2020, has been renamed as IBM Robotic Process Automation.

IBM RPA as a Service with WDG Automation, as previously announced in Software Announcement 220-162, dated August 4, 2020, has been renamed as IBM RPA as a Service.

Both offerings complement other products within the IBM Digital Business Automation portfolio. RPA enables the building of unattended bots that can be triggered by an automated scheduler and attended bots that can be initiated on demand.

RPA mimics human behavior to perform repetitive business tasks such as data extraction, data transfer, data computation, and data input by integrating with a business application's graphical user interface. Organizations can use RPA to automate tasks to help make their operations more efficient and employees more productive by enabling them to focus on higher-value activities.

IBM Cloud® Integration Implementation Services also provides flexible implementation services for the deployment of RPA and RPA as a Service with orderable part numbers.

For information about the IBM acquisition of WDG Automation, see the IBM News Room.

RPA

RPA key capabilities include:

  • Bot authoring. Select from hundreds of prebuilt commands to assemble bot scripts.
  • Recorder. Use a low-code approach to record user interactions to automatically generate bot scripts to accelerate time to value.
  • Bot scheduling. Manage the time periods in which unattended bots are to be run.
  • Workload management. Intelligently distribute work across multiple bots to optimize throughput.
  • Concurrent execution. Reduce cost of ownership by running multiple bots on the same virtual host.
  • Unattended bots. Use a digital workforce to automate repetitive tasks without human intervention.
  • Attended bots. Enable a human workforce to augment work using bots to perform repetitive tasks on demand.
  • Optical character recognition. Process documents by extracting structured data from unstructured content.
  • Dashboards. Gain business insights into business operations.
  • Intelligent virtual agent (IVAs) chatbots. Combine chat and robotic process automation commands to create chatbots through multiple channels that can provide engaging client interactions.

Note: The IVA and interactive voice response (IVR) capability is currently available only with the software as a service (SaaS) offering.

To be notified of the no-charge cloud-based trial, see the Sign up for IBM Robotic Process Automation as a Service with WDG Automation web page.

If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whom you acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.

For clarification, note that (1) for programs acquired under the IBM International Passport Advantage offering, this term applies only to your first acquisition of the program and (2) for programs acquired under any of IBM's On/Off Capacity on Demand (On/Off CoD) software offerings, this term does not apply since these offerings apply to programs already acquired and in use by you.

Statement of good security practices

Top rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through intrusion prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a regulatory compliant, comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective.

Important: IBM does not warrant that any systems, products, or services are immune from, or will make your enterprise immune from, the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
