Overview

Top rule

ODM on Cloud is a cloud service that helps you capture, automate, and manage rule-based business decisions. It is a business rule automation platform that anyone can work with, from IT to business-line leaders. Users can quickly initiate business rule management projects at lower costs by reducing the need for IT assistance, and hardware and software acquisitions. It can quickly authorize a loan, decide on a promotion, or detect a cross-sell opportunity with high precision and customization. This service allows you to remain up to date and aligned with the changing business objectives of your organization.

ODM on Cloud provides the ability to deploy additional environments to increase your flexibility and better align the portal with your natural development processes.

ODM on Cloud provides:

  • Full-decision management. Captures, manages and automates business policies, practices, and regulations on the cloud. Gain more visibility and control of your business decisions.
  • A lower bar of entry. Eliminates typical inhibitors, such as capital expenditure, hardware availability, and skills for installing and operating a decision management platform.
  • Faster time to value. Provides three preconfigured development, test, and production environments to get you started within 48 hours without IT support.

ODM on Cloud is available exclusively on IBM Cloud™ infrastructure and managed by IBM. It delivers the market-leading Business Rule Management System (BRMS) benefits that are similar to those available in the on-premises IBM ODM Server product.

For existing capabilities and additional ordering options and products that are available with ODM on Cloud, see the Software Announcements that are listed in the Reference information section.

Description

Top rule

ODM on Cloud now offers the ability to customize the instance to your development cycles. You can order additional execution environments to add more test environments, such as a user acceptance test environment or additional production environments (a pre-production environment). This enables ODM on Cloud to more closely follow the standard development flow.

Given the architectural changes made to this new release of ODM on Cloud, you can now connect the decision center of one instance of the cloud portal to the execution environment of another. This can reduce redundancy of execution environments in cases where higher availability is required and a choice to have an instance deployed in multiple data centers.

You can request a customized report that shows your monthly usage for decisions and managed artifacts. This report can be used to better manage compliance against entitlement.

Accessibility by people with disabilities

A US Section 508 Accessibility Compliance Report containing details on accessibility compliance can be found on the Product accessibility information website.

Product positioning

Top rule

Decision management enables organizations to automate, optimize and govern repeatable business decisions. Repeatable business decisions can be captured and automated to:

  • Improve your business responsiveness.
  • Minimize compliance risk and streamline workflow processes.

A business rule management system adds agility and real-time decision making to your day-to-day operations, while it enables quick optimization and change management capabilities to keep them up with the pace of your business. These decisions may be fully automated, such as through an online application or a self-service, point-of-sale system, or they may be used to provide decision support to people through a system used at a call center, branch, or store location, or in the back office.

This is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering within the IBM ODM portfolio.

The development, test, and production environments are all incorporated into the solution. It is packaged in a monthly subscription. You choose the ready-for-use solution that suits your needs, so you can get your decision management project up to speed and into production as fast as possible, with a minimum initial investment in capital, hardware, and operational skills.

Statement of good security practices

Top rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through intrusion prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a regulatory compliant, comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective.

Important: IBM does not warrant that any systems, products, or services are immune from, or will make your enterprise immune from, the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
