Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms V10.1 is a high-performance solution for managing electronic report capture and distribution, and providing customer self-service bill presentment. It incorporates features that are designed to help companies gain potentially significant return on investment by transforming costly high volume print output into electronic information capture in support of customer service.

Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms V10.1 includes the following key enhancements:

  • Active-active high-availability configuration. Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms can be configured for active-active high availability, thus providing for higher resilience with automatic failover of server components of IBM Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms.
  • Content encryption. For improved security, Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms can be configured to automatically encrypt the content being stored in storage tiers, regardless of the type of storage or storage manager that is being used.
  • Secure and economical storage on cloud. With support for IBM Cloud Object Storage (formerly known as CleverSafe) and Amazon S3, Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms expands the choice of storage from traditional on-premises file-system-based storage to cloud-based storage. IBM Cloud Object Storage provides storage that scales beyond petabytes of capacity with improved availability, security, and lower total cost of ownership.
  • Digital hash for documents. Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms can store documents along with a 256-bit digital hash or digital signature, which helps confirm that documents stored have not been altered.
  • Unique document ID. Each document that is stored in Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms now has a unique document ID. A unique document ID allows for every document to be uniquely identified without having to reference any other document metadata information.
  • Premium Feature Pack. A new chargeable component called Premium Feature Pack for Multiplatforms is now available. It includes four optional features of Content Manager OnDemand (OnDemand Distribution Facility, PDF Indexer, Full Text Search and Enhanced Retention Management) and can be licensed on a per-install basis. Each license of Premium Features Pack provides entitlement to one install of each included feature and can be used with single Content Manager OnDemand. Features included in Premium Feature Pack are also available as before on an individual basis with Processor Value Unit (PVU) based licensing. Premium Feature Pack provides a simplified alternative to get all four features in a single package at a flat pricing model.

Content Manager OnDemand for i V7.3 is optimized for efficiently storing and managing large volumes of static content, which are typically generated by enterprise applications as print streams. Examples of high volume static content are customer correspondence, such as credit card statements, utility bills, policies, explanation of benefits, trade confirms, and check images. Other examples include enterprise reports generated to conduct business activity or to communicate business performance.

Content Manager OnDemand for i V7.3 provides a new Premium Feature Pack:

  • Premium Feature Pack. A new chargeable component called Premium Feature Pack for i is now available. It includes four optional features of Content Manager OnDemand (OnDemand Distribution Facility, PDF Indexer, Full Text Search and Enhanced Retention Management) and can be licensed on a per-install basis. Each license of Premium Features Pack provides entitlement to one install of each included feature and can be used with single Content Manager OnDemand. Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms V10.1 is optimized for efficiently storing and managing large volumes of static content, including correspondence that has been electronically sent or posted to clients, and reports that are used to conduct business activity or convey business performance. It provides quick, efficient access to critical documents and helps organizations with the following benefits.

Move beyond traditional enterprise report management

Content Manager OnDemand can help organizations move beyond traditional enterprise report management solutions by providing high-volume capture of computer output, and flexible search and retrieval options with multiple solutions for web browsers and desktop environments.

Content Manager OnDemand incorporates automated and optimized storage management and can serve as a platform for implementing electronic bill presentment and payment solutions. In addition to excellent scalability and performance, it provides extensive platform support, including IBM AIX®, IBM i, IBM z™/OS, Microsoft™ Windows™, Linux™, and Linux for IBM z Systems™. With IBM Content Manager OnDemand on Cloud, customers can choose to deploy on cloud as well. In addition, hybrid deployments are now possible whereby custom solutions built for Content Manager OnDemand such as client-facing portals or eStatement Presentment Solutions can run on customer premises and Content Manager OnDemand can run on cloud.

Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms V10.1 also introduces support for IBM Cloud Object Storage which provides secure storage for content on cloud. On-premises deployments of Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms V10.1 can extend configurations to include IBM Cloud Object Storage for securely storing content in cloud. With support for Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service), Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms V10.1 can be configured to use cloud storage from other vendors that support the Amazon S3 interface.

Make content available to those who need it, when they need it

Content Manager OnDemand Web Enablement Toolkit helps users access data through an industry-standard web browser. Users can search through archived folders and applications, and select documents or sections of reports for browser viewing. The toolkit can also run on a web server and uses standard Content Manager OnDemand interfaces for accessing data that is stored on a Content Manager OnDemand server.

IBM Content Navigator is included as a nonchargeable component. Designed to be easy to use, it provides a highly interactive, customizable, and rapidly deployable web platform that enables users to access, manage, and work with enterprise content directly from most devices, including smartphones and tablets. Users can retrieve reports and statements, check images, and get other computer-generated output with just a few clicks. Well suited for both local and remote users, this intuitive client application offers many features, including:

  • Customizable interfaces (or skins)
  • Search across multiple repositories (Content Manager OnDemand, Content Manager, FileNet® Content Manager)
  • Multiple document window views from a single viewer framework
  • Browse, search, and work features for portal environments
  • Capability to print search result lists from the server

Locate content quickly and efficiently

Content Manager OnDemand enables users to access and use content quickly and efficiently. It quickly transforms and displays documents on the screen with the same fidelity as if they were printed. Search and navigation features enable users to quickly retrieve information and easily maneuver within multipage documents.

Content Manager OnDemand works with commercially available off-the-shelf transform software to provide content transformation and accessibility capabilities to convert stored documents into viewable formats. For example, you can transform an IBM Advanced Function Presentation data stream into Adobe™ PDF for general distribution and viewing. You can preserve the document's original integrity while quickly and efficiently providing information to the parties who need it in a format that they want.

The optional IBM Content Manager OnDemand Distribution Facility (ODF) feature provides report distribution capabilities across all platforms. It enables the user to distribute groups of reports to multiple users. Through the included graphical interface, users can monitor tasks such as adding report bundles and system statistics.

Content Manager OnDemand provides various indexers to extract and index content of different data types:

  • The Generic indexer can be used to specify index data for any type of input file that you want to store in the system, although a format-specific indexer (if one is available) is typically used for this function.
  • AFP Conversion and Indexing Facility can be used for Advanced Function Printing (AFP) data and line data. AFP Conversion and Indexing Facility is a powerful tool for indexing the print data streams of IBM z/OS application programs, unformatted ASCII data, and ASCII data containing printer control characters that are generated on UNIX™ or Microsoft Windows workstations. AFP Conversion and Indexing Facility indexes reports based on the organization of the data in the report. You can optionally convert line data print streams into AFP data.
  • The optional PDF indexer feature can be used to extract index data and create PDF resource files for Adobe PDF files that you want to store in Content Manager OnDemand.
  • XML indexing provides the capability to load and index XML documents into the Content Manager OnDemand repository. This capability helps improve scalability by potentially reducing the storage costs of XML indexes and supporting faster index of large XML data workloads. XML documents can also be easily reformatted to meet accessibility needs.
  • The IBM OS/390® indexer is now available on all platforms and can be used to capture any data type. Native support exists for line data and AFP data. Other data types, such as PDF and TIFF images, can be captured by using the Anystore Exit. This provides a method to capture documents of most types and sizes (including those greater than 2 GB) into Content Manager OnDemand.

Full-Text Search is an optional feature for quickly and efficiently storing and retrieving content that is not easily identified by regular indexes. Full-Text Search automatically creates an optimal index of all the words within a document, and helps enable rapid search and retrieval against that index. This feature works with Content Navigator and customer-written applications.

Securely store content

The security of IT infrastructure is paramount. It is critical to safeguard data stored in Content Manager OnDemand from unauthorized access. IBM Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms V10.1 now includes additional measures to improve security of content. Any content being stored can be automatically encrypted in storage, regardless of the type of storage management software that is being used. Content Manager OnDemand uses AES 256 encryption to encrypt the content. Beyond encryption of content, it is possible to encrypt the metadata stored in a DB2® database server by using DB2 native encryption facility.

Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms V10.1 also stores a digital hash of each document. Digital hash is a 256-bit signature of a document and can be used to verify that a retrieved document has not been altered or tampered with.

Leverage federated record management and enhanced document retention capabilities

Federated records management is an optional Content Manager OnDemand capability requiring a separate license of IBM Enterprise Records software. With this option, users can manage the lifecycle of various types of documents that need to be retained for compliance with regulatory requirements. Content Manager OnDemand leverages IBM Enterprise Records software to help you transform volumes of report-oriented data into federated records. You can categorize checks, statements, invoices, and reports as records and manage them efficiently from within Enterprise Records software. This process helps streamline records and compliance management and can offer several potential benefits:

  • Reduce risk exposure. By bringing sensitive records-class content under the control of a single records management engine, your organization can manage archival and retention requirements, which potentially helps lower your exposure to risk.
  • Lower discovery and litigation costs. Records administrators can perform a single search across multiple systems, including Content Manager OnDemand, and then identify relevant records and hold or suspend normal disposition schedules until litigation is resolved.
  • Lower records administration costs. You can streamline the process of managing records stored in Content Manager OnDemand and other systems from a single records administrator console that provides a centralized file plan along with reporting, hold, suspension, audit, and disposition capabilities.

Enhanced Retention Management is an optional Content Manager OnDemand feature for managing the lifecycle of various types of documents that are not necessarily needed for compliance with regulatory purposes, but have business value and need to be retained for a definite period. Enhanced Retention Management helps provide a simplified mechanism to control the lifecycle of the content, and the capability to lock down individual documents within a report to prevent expiration at the document level.

You may use both federated records management and Enhanced Retention Management. Federated records management is used for content to be retained for compliance with regulatory requirements and provides auditability and legal hold capabilities. Enhanced Retention Management helps you manage retention of content that is needed by businesses and also needs to be under retention control, but without the overhead of compliance with regulatory requirements.

Help improve productivity and reduce costs

Paper-based record keeping can quickly become inefficient. Consider an organization that mails bills to its customers and then has its staff file hard copies in traditional filing cabinets. As the organization grows, it might need several rooms to house these paper-based records. When a question or problem arises, someone must search for a hard copy of the bill or letter of complaint through hundreds, possibly even thousands, of client billing records; a process that could take days, depending on the size of the customer base.

Content Manager OnDemand helps you overcome these issues by helping to enable fast, indexed access to transactions and reports. Distributing data electronically can drastically reduce the time to find the pertinent information, possibly from days to minutes. You can integrate Content Manager OnDemand with analytics and report-mining tools to learn more about your business, thereby, increasing the value of the archived content over time. You can also help control the costs associated with printing documents, maintaining a staff to manage the paper load, and holding office and storage space for physical records.

Help improve customer service

Paper-based processes can also impair relationships with customers. Without a reliable web presence, an organization must process a higher volume in its call center, often because its customers cannot find what they are looking for, even if it is available online. When a customer calls to ask questions or report problems, customer service representatives are unable to handle requests in real time because they cannot immediately access the paper bill to which the customer is referring. Poor access to information leads to additional customer callbacks and greatly diminishes the organization's ability to serve its customers, which can significantly affect the bottom line.

Content Manager OnDemand helps organizations develop an enterprise archival and retrieval system that delivers self-service access to computer-generated bills, statements, invoices, and other documents. Customer service representatives can help resolve customer billing inquiries about invoices and statements during the initial call, helping to reduce the number of callbacks. Self-service capabilities and online access to account information help enable customers to answer their own questions, reducing call-center volume, and potentially driving down customer service costs.

IBM Content Navigator V3.0

Content Navigator V3.0 is included as a nonchargeable bundled component of Content Manager OnDemand. Content Navigator is the unified ECM experience platform that spans mobile, web, and desktop form factors. It includes features that are designed to make it easy to create, share, manage, and collaborate on content by using ECM products, key partner solutions, and even third-party content repositories. Content Navigator is a modern, easy-to-use, open-standards-based platform to build custom ECM applications. It is an effective way for partners and clients to simplify and accelerate development of custom user experiences on mobile, web, and desktop. Authorized User

Authorized User is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. An Authorized User is a unique person who is given access to the program. The program may be installed on any number of computers or servers and each Authorized User may have simultaneous access to any number of instances of the program at one time. Licensee must obtain separate, dedicated entitlements for each Authorized User given access to the program in any manner directly or indirectly (for example, through a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means. An entitlement for an Authorized User is unique to that Authorized User and may not be shared, nor may it be reassigned other than for the permanent transfer of the Authorized User entitlement to another person.

Note: Some programs may be licensed where devices are considered users. In that case, the following applies. Any computing device that requests the execution of or receives for execution a set of commands, procedures, or applications from the program or that is otherwise managed by the program is considered a separate user of the program and requires an entitlement as if that device were a person.


User Value Unit (UVU)

UVU is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. UVU Proofs of Entitlement (PoEs) are based on the number and type of users for the given program. Licensee must obtain sufficient entitlements for the number of UVUs required for licensee's environment as specified in the program specific table. The UVU entitlements are specific to the program and type of user and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with UVU entitlements of another program or type of user. Refer to the program-specific UVU table.


Install

Install is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. An Install is an installed copy of the program on a physical or virtual disk made available to be executed on a computer. Licensee must obtain an entitlement for each install of the program.


Processor Value Unit (PVU)

PVU is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. The number of PVU entitlements required is based on the processor technology (defined within the PVU table by processor value, brand, type, and model number at the website below) and the number of processors made available to the program. IBM continues to define a processor, for the purpose of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip (socket). A dual-core processor chip, for example, has two processor cores. The PVU table can be found on the PVU licensing for Distributed Software page. Licensee can deploy the program using either full capacity licensing or virtualization capacity (sub-capacity) licensing according to the Passport Advantage Sub-Capacity Licensing Terms found on the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules page. If using full capacity licensing, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores1 in the physical hardware environment made available to or managed by the program, except for those servers from which the program has been permanently removed. If using virtualization capacity licensing, licensee must obtain entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores made available to or managed by the program, as defined according to the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules that can be found on the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules page.

An activated processor core is a processor core that is available for use in a physical or virtual server, regardless of whether the capacity of the processor core can be or is limited through virtualization technologies, operating system commands, BIOS settings, or similar restrictions.

Notes:

  • Some programs may require licenses for the program and what is being managed. In that case, the following applies. In addition to the entitlements required for the program directly, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the processor cores managed by the program.
  • Some programs may be licensed on a managed basis only. In that case, the following applies. Instead of the entitlements required for the program directly, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the processor cores managed by the program.
  • A few programs on an exception basis may be licensed on a referenced basis. In that case, the following applies. Rather than obtaining entitlements for the activated processor cores available to the program, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the environment made available to the referenced program as if the program itself were executing everywhere the referenced program was executing, independent of the basis on which the referenced program is licensed.


Resource Value Unit (RVU)

RVU is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. RVU Proofs of Entitlement (PoEs) are based on the number of units of a specific resource used or managed by the program. Licensee must obtain sufficient entitlements for the number of RVUs required for licensee's environment for the specific resources as specified in the program specific table. RVU entitlements are specific to the program and the type of resource and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with RVU entitlements of another program or resource. Refer to the program-specific RVU table.

The information provided in this announcement letter is for reference and convenience purposes only. The terms and conditions that govern any transaction with IBM are contained in the applicable contract documents such as the IBM International Program License Agreement, IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement, and the IBM Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance.

Licensing

IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Information document and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs are required for all authorized use. Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance.

Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance

These programs are licensed under the IBM Program License Agreement (IPLA) and the associated Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance, which provide for support with ongoing access to releases and versions of the program. IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available. These programs have a one-time license charge for use of the program and an annual renewable charge for the enhanced support that includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours), as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect.

Limited warranty

IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified operating environment, it will conform to its specifications. The warranty applies only to the unmodified portion of the program. IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the program or that IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible for the results obtained from the use of the program.

IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information on known program defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at no additional charge. For further information, see the IBM Software Support Handbook.

IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the original licensee acquires the program (warranty period).

Program support

Subscription and Support includes telephone assistance, as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect. You will be notified of discontinuance of support with 12 months' notice.

Money-back guarantee

If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its PoE to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whom you acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.

For clarification, note that (1) for programs acquired under the IBM International Passport Advantage offering, this term applies only to your first acquisition of the program and (2) for programs acquired under any of IBM's On/Off Capacity on Demand (On/Off CoD) software offerings, this term does not apply since these offerings apply to programs already acquired and in use by you.

Software Subscription and Support applies

Yes. Software Subscription and Support, also referred to as Software Maintenance, is included with licenses purchased through Passport Advantage and Passport Advantage Express. Product upgrades and Technical Support are provided by the Software Subscription and Support offering as described in the Agreements. Product upgrades provide the latest versions and releases to entitled software, and Technical Support provides voice and electronic access to IBM support organizations, worldwide.

IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support with each program license acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available.

While your Software Subscription and Support is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions, and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance by telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to your users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For additional details, see the IBM Software Support Handbook. Software Subscription and Support does not include assistance for the design and development of applications, your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment, or failures caused by products for which IBM is not responsible under the applicable agreements.

Unless specified otherwise in a written agreement with you, IBM does not provide support for third-party products that were not provided by IBM. Ensure that when contacting IBM for covered support, you follow problem determination and other instructions that IBM provides, including in the IBM Software Support Handbook.
