Overview

IBM® Content Navigator is the unified, IBM Enterprise Content Management (ECM) experience platform that spans mobile, web, and desktop form factors. It includes features that make it easier to create, share, manage, and collaborate on content by using ECM products, key partner solutions, and even third-party content repositories.

Content Navigator is not just a modern, easy-to-use experience, it is also an open, standards-based platform to build custom ECM applications. It is the most effective way for partners and clients to simplify and accelerate development of custom user experiences on mobile, web, and the desktop.

Content Navigator V3.0 enhances the integration with Box and Microsoft™ Office and provides new role-based redaction capabilities. It also marks the beginning of a new Continuous Delivery support policy.

While not licensed independently, Content Navigator V3.0 is available as a bundled component of the following ECM offerings:

  • IBM Case Manager V5.3
  • IBM DataCap V9.1

Description
Bottom rule

Content Navigator V3.0 includes the following enhancements:

  • Office Online Server integration. Initially available with FileNet® Content Foundation and FileNet Content Manager, users can create and edit files by using lightweight, web-browser-based versions of Microsoft Office applications:
    • Word
    • Excel
    • PowerPoint

Office browser-based editors are seamlessly integrated into Content Navigator to allow the user to:

    • Create new Office documents.
    • Edit existing Office documents.
    • Save changes continuously.
    • Collaboratively co-edit in real time.
  • Dynamic role-based redaction. Addresses document-sensitive and data-regulatory impacts by introducing role-based redaction that limits the users' exposure to sensitive data, which is based on their business role. The redaction placement or burn-in requires the IBM Daeja™ ViewONE 5.0 Virtual Module for Permanent Redaction. A single copy of the document is stored, together with role-based redactions. Redactions are put in place based on business roles. Auto-discovery of sensitive data and auto-creation of role-based redaction is available with Datacap Insight Edition.
  • Enhanced integration with Box. From Content Navigator:
    • Supports content creation and classification in Box repositories that leverage Box metadata templates.
    • Allows content to be found, regardless of where it is stored, which is based on both content and metadata.
    • Leverages external data services to get data from an external data source to customize field properties and manage metadata template property behavior.
    • Invites and manages external collaborators on Box folders.
    • Leverages native Box viewer when viewing Box documents.
  • Other notable enhancements:
    • Deprecate an existing, Java™-applet-based email action by replacing it with a configurable, HTML-based email action.
    • Outlook remembrance option that, when enabled, remembers the last added email classification and applies it to the next addition.
    • Advanced settings option for saved searches. Through the advance settings options, saved search authors can set read, required, and hidden attributes on both text and property-based criteria. In addition, saved search authors can filter operators for each property-based criteria.
  • New sample plugins:
    • Aspera® faspex
      • Provides new send through Aspera action.
      • Allows users to select one or more files that leverage Aspera faspex.
    • DocuSign
      • Provides new single-select and multi-select document action to send documents for signature by using DocuSign.
      • Provides signature status of documents submitted: pending, complete, and signed.
    • User Interface customization. Provides new user interface experience for navigating Content Navigator features within a desktop.

Statement of good security practices
Bottom rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a lawful, comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective.

Important: IBM does not warrant that any systems, products, or services are immune from, or will make your enterprise immune from, the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
