The IBM Autonomics Director for DB2 for z/OS feature (FMID HAKP160), is delivered as a feature of DB2 Utilities Solution Pack for z/OS, V4.1 (5697-US4), DB2 Backup and Recovery Solution Pack for z/OS, V1.1 (5655-BR1), and DB2 DB2 Management Solution Pack for z/OS, V2.1 (5655-MS2).
The Autonomics Director for DB2 for z/OS feature delivers two classes of pluggable functions:
- Evaluators: Analyze the state of the system and identify symptoms they register in the SYMPTOMS table and make recommendations by registering them in the ACTIONS table.
- Enactors: Perform a specified action out of the ACTIONS table as instructed by the Autonomics Director for DB2. Enactors are also responsible for providing projections of time and CPU for actions.
The external evaluators and enactors communicate and interact by manipulating the various tables provided and managed by the Autonomics Director for DB2. The set of tables created by Autonomics Director for DB2 include registered evaluators and enactors, discovered symptoms and their corresponding recommended actions, maintenance window definitions, and historical records of autonomic actions, utility runs, and Real Time Statistics (RTS).
Enhancements in this release include:
- New Autonomic Console option can help you to set the priority of actions, objects, and symptoms
- New action registry editor can help you to set the default priority for every Autonomic Console action
- New capability to associate a Notification Profile with an Autonomic Maintenance window

DB2 Query Monitor for z/OS, V3.3 (5655-V42) offers current and historical views of query activity throughout DB2 subsystems. DB2 Query Monitor gives you the ability to efficiently customize and tune your SQL workload and DB2 objects to validate the effectiveness of your DB2 subsystems and improve overall performance. DB2 Query Monitor also offers you extensive choices so you can determine what monitoring information you will gather, and when.
DB2 Query Monitor for z/OS enables you to identify problem SQL activity and applications, enabling you to focus your efforts on improvement. DB2 Query Monitor for z/OS enables you to do the following:
Provides
- Compatibility of the Consolidation and Analysis Engine (CAE) server with previous maintenance levels of the DB2 Query Monitor subsystems and ISPF clients to help you rollout maintenance gradually across your data centers, particularly when there are many DB2 Query Monitor subsystems on different LPARs.
- Removes requirement for CAE to be APF authorized.
- Security support for DB2 connection by using Resource Recovery Services Attachment Facility (RRSAF) instead of Call Attach Facility. This change enables DB2 authorization checking based on the user that is logged in when accessing remote data sharing members through the CAE.
Performance / Integration
- Enable deeper performance analysis through the ability to request a collection of host variable
values for selected SQL statements.
- Ability to view the SQL text and captured host variables in the web interface.
- Reduce CPU by enabling detailed object collection by workload rather than subsystem wide.
- Enable DB2 Query Monitor data to be displayed directly in the OMEGAMON interface and data repositories for improved historical analysis.
- Integration with IBM Data Server Manager to simplify the process of query tuning. IBM Data Server Manager (DSM) integrates various browser client interfaces, such as the DB2 Query Workload Tuner, on a single server and provides a single interface that users can access to work with information about their DB2 subsystems.
Usability
- Perform dynamic configuration changes without requiring that you stop and start the started task.
- New ISPF panels provide line commands in a pop-up window for ease of use and to provide more space to display results.
- Ability to limit the collection of metrics to dynamic SQL, static SQL, or both. This enables those who are not interested in gathering static SQL metrics to gather statistics only on dynamic SQL.
Improved offload and data management support
- Simplified support to store Query Monitor data in DB2 tables to enable you to retain DB2 Query Monitor performance data on a consolidated, centralized DB2 system away from production and potentially keep the data longer for more historical analysis.
- Ability to load DB2 Query Monitor data directly to the DB2 Analytics Accelerator (requires IBM DB2 Analytics Loader for z/OS, 2.1).
- Collect data without the requirement to be offloaded to tables, offload only certain intervals for long-term storage, and better manage noncritical interval data.
- The optional LOAD card enhancement enables you to choose not to place the target table in COPY PENDING through new NOCOPYPEND. Additionally, the INDEX(ALL) clause for the STATISTICS eliminates the need to do a RUNSTATS after you do a load because it keeps the statistics up to date. This new option has been added to enable you to collect index statistics when user-defined indexes have been added to the performance history schema.
- Performance history database ("Offload") improvements that enable reports, such as the CAE Archive Feature, to reproduce all of the data displayed in ISPF panels.
Enhanced reporting
- Several new reporting options have been added, including:

DB2 Automation Tool for z/OS, V4.3 (5655-E37) key enhancements:
New integration with complementary products in portfolio:
- Support for managing DB2 Automation Tool utility, object, exception, and job profiles from within DSM. From a simple, web-based graphical console, you can manage maintenance tasks, view the overall health of your database assets, detect and prevent problems by performing corrective actions to avoid downtime. This solution provides DB2 for z/OS utilities automation and management in the DSM interface.
- View and assess the health of accelerated DB2 tables and automate the process of loading or refreshing data to the DB2 Analytics Accelerator. DB2 Automation Tool will check the status of an accelerated DB2 object, detect when it needs to be loaded, and automatically generate the JCL to load only the changed data.
Usability improvements:
- Enhanced functionality to prevent DB2 outages due to out-of-space conditions and to automate corrective action.
- OPTIONS is a new primary command on the Update Exception Profile Display panel. This command can be used to limit which static fields to display to enlarge the scrolling area of the terminal.
- New exception condition TABLESPACESTATS.SPACEUSED_PCT .
- Calculate more accurate space values for the reallocation utility by using real-time statistics (RTS) as an alternative to MVS catalog statistics. RTS values are more accurate than MVS catalog statistics when many rows have been deleted from a table space because MVS catalog statistics do not reflect the freed-up space. Therefore, using RTS values can save space during reallocation.
- Eliminate manual processes when "un-scheduling" a maintenance window. DB2 Automation Tool will automatically un-schedule a maintenance window from the DB2 administration task scheduler whenever a maintenance window is deleted. It also provides the capability to reassign actions to another maintenance window.
- Conditionally issue a TERM UTILITY (terminate utility) command when a DB2 utility ends abnormally, thus ensuring the resources are freed.
- Expanded notifications to keep you informed through email or text about DB2 maintenance tasks. The notification feature includes a framework that enables other tools to plug in and create their own notifications.
- The ability to include the total number or a list of all triggered objects through email or the total number of triggered objects through text. The ability to notify you when a maintenance window begins and ends.
Tools Customizer usability:
- Addition of OWNER parameter to all plan binds.
Deprecated features:
- The data page display and edit functions and the associated data page verification reporting option in utility profiles have been deprecated. These are not recommended methods for accessing DB2 data. Deprecation was announced in DB2 Automation Tool V4.2.
- Several real-time statistics have been deprecated from the 'Update Exceptions Profile Display'. The SYSTABLESPACESTATS.UNCOMPRESSED_DATASIZE and SYSTABLESPACESTATS.COMPRESSION_RATIO exceptions have been removed. In the IBM DB2 V10 and V11 SQL Reference, UNCOMPRESSED_DATASIZE is always set to 0. Because COMPRESSION_RATIO is based on UNCOMPRESSED_DATASIZE, this calculated value is always 0. Therefore, both of these exception conditions are always 0, and no longer have meaning.

- IBM DB2 Cloning Tool for z/OS can make it easy to clone a DB2 subsystem or DB2 table spaces. DB2 Cloning Tool for z/OS can also be used to clone non-DB2 volumes. Traditional cloning and refresh methods are time consuming, use large amounts of host processing resources, and when copying DB2 systems, require a separate LPAR to house the copy. Today's storage-based fast replication technologies provide services to copy DB2 data without using host CPU or I/O resources. DB2 Cloning Tool for z/OS leverages these technologies to make the cloning process faster and to help reduce the costs of cloning and refreshing data.
- DB2 subsystem cloning: DB2 Cloning Tool for z/OS integrates storage system volume fast-replication and automation to clone entire DB2 subsystems within the same or a shared LPAR. DB2 Cloning Tool for z/OS renames the data sets, updates the volume identifiers, and manages the DB2 metadata to enable the data to be used by a cloned DB2 subsystem quickly.
- DB2 table space refresh: DB2 Cloning Tool for z/OS integrates storage system data set fast-replication and automation to refresh table and index spaces within the same or to a different DB2 instance. DB2 Cloning Tool for z/OS copies the data quickly and automatically translates the object IDs that differ between source and target subsystems.
- Fast replication support: The fast replication copy services outlined here can be used to create the volume copies used for DB2 system clones or to create the data set copies used for table space and index space refreshes. A storage blade represents fast replication copy services invoked directly by DB2 Cloning Tool for z/OS. DB2 Cloning Tool for z/OS executes the DFSMSdss blade to issue IBM FlashCopy or STK SnapShot copy commands either by volume or by data set. When cloning DB2 systems or table spaces that reside on EMC DASD, DB2 Cloning Tool uses the EMC API to invoke TimeFinder/Clone to copy the data either by volume or by data set. When cloning DB2 subsystems that reside on EMC DASD and use TimeFinder/Mirror, or that reside on Hitachi Storage Systems, an appropriate replication process is performed before DB2 Cloning Tool cloning automation is invoked and a list of copied storage volumes are passed to DB2 Cloning Tool for use in later processing steps.

Value Unit-based pricing
Value Unit pricing for eligible IBM z Systems IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA) programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth and enterprise aggregation. Each z Systems IPLA product with Value Unit pricing has a single price per Value Unit and a conversion matrix, called Value Unit Exhibit, for converting from some designated measurement to Value Units. Most commonly, Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the measurement designated by IBM to be converted to Value Units. Some other measurements are engines or messages. Since MSUs are the most common measurement, that measurement will be used for the remainder of this description.
Value Unit pricing offers price benefits for you. For each z Systems IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the required license capacity. Each of the various Value Unit Exhibits stipulate that the larger your required license capacity, the fewer Value Units per MSU you will need. Value Unit Exhibits are uniquely identified by a three digit code and referred to using the nomenclature VUExxx, where xxx is the three-digit code.
Subsequent acquisitions of Value Unit priced programs offer additional price benefits. The quantity of each z Systems IPLA program that you have acquired is referred to as entitled license capacity. If you want to grow your entitled license capacity for a z Systems IPLA program, the calculation to determine additional needed Value Units is based upon the number of Value Units already acquired.
For each z Systems IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, you should:
- Determine the required license capacity, in MSUs.
- Aggregate the MSUs across the enterprise.
- Convert the total MSUs to Value Units, using the applicable Value Unit Exhibit.
- Multiply the price per Value Unit by the total number of Value Units to determine the total cost.
To simplify conversion from the designated measurement to Value Units or vice-versa, use the Value Unit Converter Tool. For additional information or to obtain a copy of the Value Unit Converter Tool, visit the Value Unit Converter Tool, go to the IBM System z® Software Pricing website.
Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Units of another product.
To determine the required license capacity for the z Systems IPLA program you selected, refer to the Terms and conditions section.

Ordering z/OS through the internet
Shopz provides an easy way to plan and order your z/OS ServerPac or CBPDO. It will analyze your current installation, determine the correct product migration, and present your new configuration based on z/OS. Additional products can also be added to your order (including determination of whether all product requisites are satisfied). Shopz is available in the US and several countries in Europe. In countries where Shopz is not available yet, contact your IBM representative (or IBM Business Partner) to handle your order via the traditional IBM ordering process. For more details and availability, see the Shopz website.
The products in this announcement have one charge unit - Value Units.

To receive voice technical support via telephone and future releases and versions at no additional charge, Subscription and Support must be ordered. The capacity of Subscription and Support (Value Units) must be the same as the capacity ordered for the product licenses.
To order, specify the Subscription and Support program number (PID) referenced above and the appropriate license or charge option.
IBM is also providing Subscription and Support for these products via a separately purchased offering under the terms of the IBM International Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance. This offering:
- Includes and extends the support services provided in the base support to include technical support via telephone.
- Entitles you to future releases and versions, at no additional charge. Note that you are not entitled to new products.
When Subscription and Support is ordered, the charges will automatically renew annually unless canceled by you.
The combined effect of the IPLA license and the Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance gives you rights and support services comparable to those under the traditional ICA S/390® and z Systems license or its equivalent. To ensure that you continue to enjoy the level of support you are used to in the ICA business model, you must order both the license for the program and the support for the selected programs at the same Value Unit quantities.

Customized Offerings
Product deliverables are shipped only through CBPDO and ServerPac. These customized offerings are offered for internet delivery in countries where Shopz product ordering is available. Internet delivery reduces software delivery time and allows you to install software without the need to handle tapes. For more details on internet delivery, go to the Help section on the Shopz website.
You choose the delivery method when you order the software. IBM recommends internet delivery. In addition to internet and DVD, the supported tape delivery options include:
- 3590
- 3592
Most products can be ordered in ServerPac the month following their availability in CBPDO. z/OS can be ordered through CBPDO and ServerPac at general availability. Many products will also be orderable in a Product ServerPac without also having to order the z/OS operating system or subsystem.
Shopz and CFSW will determine the eligibility based on product requisite checking. For more details on the product ServerPac, go to the Help section on the Shopz website.
For additional information about the Product ServerPac option, refer to Software Announcement 212-272, dated July 31, 2012.
Production of software product orders will begin on the planned general availability date.
- CBPDO shipments will begin one week after general availability.

Limited warranty
IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified operating environment, it will conform to its specifications. The warranty applies only to the unmodified portion of the program. IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the program or that IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible for the results obtained from the use of the program.
IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information on known program defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at no additional charge. For further information, see the IBM Software Support Handbook.
IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the original licensee acquires the program (warranty period).
Money-back guarantee
If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its PoE to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whom you acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.
For clarification, note that for programs acquired under any of IBM's On/Off Capacity on Demand (On/Off CoD) software offerings, this term does not apply since these offerings apply to programs already acquired and in use by you.

Full-capacity mainframes
In cases where full capacity is applicable, the following terms apply.
Execution based, z/OS based, full machine based: The required capacity of a z Systems IPLA program with these terms equals the MSU-rated capacity of the machines where the z Systems IPLA program executes.
For more information on mainframe MSU-rated capacities, go to the IBM z Systems Software Contracts website.
Reference based: The required license capacity of a z Systems IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the parent program.
Sub-capacity mainframes
In cases where sub-capacity is applicable, the following terms apply.
Execution based: The required capacity of a z Systems IPLA sub-capacity program with these terms equals the capacity of the LPARs where the z Systems IPLA program executes.
z/OS based: The required license capacity of a z Systems IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of z/OS on the machines where the z Systems IPLA program executes.
Reference based: The required license capacity of a z Systems IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the parent program.
Full machine based: The required license capacity of a z Systems IPLA program with full machine based terms equals the MSU-rated capacity of the machines where the z Systems IPLA program executes.
For more information on mainframe MSU-rated capacities, refer to The IBM z Systems Machines Exhibit, Z125-3901, or visit the Mainframes section of the z Systems Exhibits website.
For additional information for products with reference-based terms, z Systems IPLA sub-capacity programs with reference-based terms adds value to the parent program across the environment, regardless of where in the environment the z Systems IPLA program executes.
An environment is defined as either a single or stand-alone machine or a qualified Parallel Sysplex®. You may have one or more different environments across the enterprise. To determine the required license capacity for each z Systems IPLA program with referenced-based terms, each environment should be assessed separately.
When a z Systems IPLA sub-capacity program with reference-based terms is used in a qualified Parallel Sysplex environment, the required license capacity of the z Systems IPLA program must equal with the license capacity of the parent program across the Parallel Sysplex. Qualified Parallel Sysplex refers to one:
- Where MLC pricing is aggregated across the sysplex.
Sub-capacity eligibility
To be eligible for sub-capacity charging on select z Systems IPLA programs, you must first implement and comply with all terms of either sub-capacity Workload License Charges (WLC) or sub-capacity Entry Workload License Charges (EWLC). To implement sub-capacity WLC or EWLC, a machine must be z Systems (or equivalent). On that machine:
- All instances of the OS/390® operating system must be migrated to the z/OS operating systems.
- Any licenses for the OS/390 operating system must be discontinued.
- All instances of the z/OS operating systems must be running in z/Architecture® (64-bit) mode.
For that machine, you must create and submit a Sub-Capacity Report to IBM each month. Sub-Capacity Reports must be generated using the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT). For additional information or to obtain a copy of SCRT, see the z Systems Software Pricing website.
You must comply with all of the terms of the WLC or EWLC offering, whichever is applicable:
- The complete terms and conditions of sub-capacity WLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement - Attachment for z Systems Workload License Charges (Z125-6516).
- The complete terms and conditions for sub-capacity EWLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement - Attachment for EWLC, TWLC, zELC, and z/OS.e License Charges (Z125-6587).
Additionally, you must sign and comply with the terms and conditions specified in the amendment to the IPLA contract - Amendment for Amendment for IBM z Systems Programs Sub-Capacity Pricing (Z125-6929). Once the amendment is signed, the terms in the amendment replace any and all previous z Systems IPLA sub-capacity terms and conditions.
Sub-capacity utilization determination
Sub-capacity utilization is determined based on the utilization of a sub-capacity eligible reference product and machine.
On/Off CoD
To be eligible for On/Off CoD pricing, you must be enabled for temporary capacity on the corresponding hardware, and the required contract, Attachment for IBM z Systems On/Off Capacity on Demand (Z125-7883) must be signed prior to use.
Statement of good security practices |
IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a lawful, comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective.
Important: IBM does not warrant that any systems, products, or services are immune from, or will make your enterprise immune from, the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
