- Optimize object placement, including support of inactive objects like table spaces and buffer pools
IBM DB2 High Performance Unload for z/OS, V4.3 (5655-AA1) is a high-speed DB2 utility for unloading DB2 tables from either a table space or an image copy. Tables are unloaded to one or more files based on a format that you specify.
New features and enhancements provided in DB2 High Performance Unload, V4.3:
Performance enhancements:
- DB2 High Performance Unload integration with IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS: DB2 Analytics Accelerator component is used when SET CURRENT QUERY ACCELERATION parmlib variable is set and a logical unload is performed in SQL mode and table and rows have been enabled for DB2 Analytics Accelerator.
- Set current optimization hint: New parmlib variable OPTIMIZATION_HINT. This sets the current OPTIMIZATION HINT special register for an unload processed in SQL mode.
Compatibility enhancements:
- DB2 High Performance Unload user exit can handle larger object descriptors as VARCHAR: DB2 High Performance Unload user exit (OUTEXIT keyword) can handle table descriptors (table name and creator)
- NUMRECS option in the generated LOAD statement: DB2 High Performance Unload can generate LOAD control statement (LOADDN keyword) with the NUMRECs option
- More DSNTYPE keywords supported: BASIC, LARGE, EXTREQ, EXTPREF
- Support of DB2 for z/OS UNLOAD syntax: DB2 High Performance Unload support controls cards and the related features of the DB2 UNLOAD (DSNUTILB) utility
- XML FORMAT additional features: Parmlib XMLSET supports additional XML output
Serviceability enhancements:
- Issue return information from FIELDPROC if an error occurs: If a fieldproc fails, then fieldproc return and reason codes or an error message is returned in the DB2 High Performance Unload issued error message
- Numbered message used to report errors at the record level: When errors (internal) occur while processing a specific record of the data, DB2 High Performance Unload issues a formal DB2 High Performance Unload numbered error message
- Enhanced data integrity checking: New parmlib variable CHECK_INTEGRITY
specifies the level of data integrity control to be performed when
reading the input data from the LDS of a DB2 object or from an Image Copy.
This only applies to the native mode.
- BASIC - basic controls such as broken page indicator are performed, PGCOMB check
- LEVEL1 - same as basic control with additional controls for LDS: check if the read page is the expected one.
- Control data loss during column format conversions: New parmlib
variable CHARACTER_LOSS. This variable is used to control what happens
when unloading using INTO keyword and the target column is smaller
than the source column. Possible values:
- IGNORE - no control
- WARNING - issue warning message, set return code to 4 and continue processing
- REJECT - issue error message, set return code to 8 and terminate processing
Process enhancements:
- Wait for migrated data sets to be recalled: DB2 High Performance Unload waits for data sets to be recalled when the datasets have been migrated to tapes.
- Enqueue at the partition level: DB2 High Performance Unload enqueues per partition unless more than 20 partitions are involved in which case the enqueue is taken for the whole table space.
Usability enhancements:
- Request progress messages via the UNLOAD command: New parmlib variable PROGRESS_MSG_FREQ to request DB2 High Performance Unload to issuing of progression messages via an option in the UNLOAD statement. This variable specifies the frequency of the informational message that displays the current number of unloaded rows for each output file.
- Improved help for VUU045/ULFORMAT parameter: New help text for ULFORMAT.
IBM DB2 Log Analysis Tool for z/OS, V3.5 (5655-T56) is a powerful tool used to support efforts to maintain high data availability and complete control over data integrity. You can monitor data changes by automatically building reports of changes that are made to database tables. The DB2 Log Analysis Tool performs the following tasks:
Reporting:
- View data changes by dates, users, tables, and other criteria
- Create summary and detail reports that show:
- Original state of the data
- Current state
- Other valuable information, such as who changed the data
- From this process, institute tighter controls over the data to ensure that it can no longer be compromised
Recovery:
- Generate SQL to UNDO or REDO changes recorded in the log
- Support for dropped object recoveries:
- Report on and recover data for dropped objects using both old and new DB2 identifiers
- After DDL is recreated, restore the data in the regenerated table back to its state before the table was dropped
Auditing:
- Monitor/Audit table changes
- UPDATE/INSERT/DELETE
- Who is changing data?
- What is the sequence of the changes?
- Validating SQL activity without traces: Is my program doing what I expect?
- Load reports into audit tables for review
Replication:
- Replay changes on another system / object: LOAD or REDO SQL
- Used for data warehousing / internal processes
- Used for setting up test systems: Use production data for authentic application testing
DB2 Log Analysis Tool, V3.5 includes the following enhancements:
Performance improvements:
- DB2 Log Analysis Tool now checks the maximum allowed 64-bit storage value and will switch over to work file mode in case the value is about to be exceeded. This means the job can complete successfully without a restart if the memory limit would otherwise be exceeded. This allows greater usage of 64 bit mode, which is the most efficient method of processing.
- Exploit SYSIBM.SYSLGRNX to determine if there are ranges of log activity that can be eliminated if no activity is found for any particular object.
Usability improvements:
- DB2 Log Analysis Tool quick start panels are designed for quicker and easier job generation. The quick start panels are organized so you can choose what type of DB2 Log Analysis Tool activity is wanted and only see the most important options that are relevant to that activity.
- Continuous mode restarts enable you to request that DB2 Log Analysis Tool track where it failed in continuous mode. DB2 Log Analysis Tool automatically restores continuous mode files on a restart.
- You can create profiles after you generate a job and edit or submit it. You do not have to use the profile panel to create a new profile or copy from an existing one.
- You can edit the SSID within the JCL and run a job on a new subsystem. DB2 Log Analysis Tool will see the change and make appropriate adjustments without causing an error condition.
- Implicitly hidden columns are fully supported and listed in the SQL statement when required for INSERTs.
- DB2 Log Analysis Tool identifies a mismatch in the Bootstrap Datasets with a warning message when reading the BSDS for log file names.
- DB2 Log Analysis Tool can use the data sharing member name for data sharing subsystems or the SSID when reporting on non-data sharing subsystems instead of using just the ID.
- With the new reports and improvements you can do the following:
- Review storage activity in 24-, 31-, and 64-bit storage with the Storage Activity Report.
- Identify SYSCOPY entries for DB2 objects with the SYSCOPY Report.
- Resolve issues more quickly by supplying support personnel with the information from the control file in the Control File Report.
- Identify table versioning issues with information from the TVFILE report.
- Easier product installation with IBM Tools Customizer for z/OS automatically discovering the values of DB2 mode and level.

Value Unit-based pricing
Value Unit pricing for eligible IBM z Systems IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA) programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth and enterprise aggregation. Each z Systems IPLA product with Value Unit pricing has a single price per Value Unit and a conversion matrix, called Value Unit Exhibit, for converting from some designated measurement to Value Units. Most commonly, Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the measurement designated by IBM to be converted to Value Units. Some other measurements are engines or messages. Since MSUs are the most common measurement, that measurement will be used for the remainder of this description.
Value Unit pricing offers price benefits for you. For each z Systems IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the required license capacity. Each of the various Value Unit Exhibits stipulate that the larger your required license capacity, the fewer Value Units per MSU you will need. Value Unit Exhibits are uniquely identified by a three digit code and referred to using the nomenclature VUExxx, where xxx is the three digit code.
Subsequent acquisitions of Value Unit priced programs offer additional price benefits. The quantity of each z Systems IPLA program that you have acquired is referred to as entitled license capacity . To grow your entitled license capacity for a z Systems IPLA program, the calculation to determine additional needed Value Units is based upon the number of Value Units already acquired.
For each z Systems IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, you should:
- Determine the required license capacity, in MSUs
- Aggregate the MSUs across the enterprise
- Convert the total MSUs to Value Units, using the applicable Value Unit Exhibit
- Multiply the price per Value Unit by the total number of Value Units to determine the total cost
To simplify conversion from the designated measurement to Value Units or vice-versa, use the Value Unit Converter Tool. For additional information or to obtain a copy of the Value Unit Converter Tool, visit the Value Unit Converter Tool website
Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Units of another product.
To determine the required license capacity for the z Systems IPLA program you selected, refer to the Terms and conditions section.

Translation from MSUs to Value Units MSUs * Value Units/MSU = Value Units Base 3 * 1.00 = 3.00 Tier A 42 * .45 = 18.90 Tier B 130 * .36 = 46.80 Tier C 140 * .27 = 37.80 Tier D 1,185 * .20 = 237.00 Total 1,500 343.50
When calculating the total number of Value Units, the sum is to be rounded up to the next integer.

Subscription and Support
To receive voice technical support via telephone and future releases and versions at no additional charge, Subscription and Support must be ordered. The capacity of Subscription and Support (Value Units) must be the same as the capacity ordered for the product licenses.
To order, specify the Subscription and Support program number (PID) referenced above and the appropriate license or charge option.
IBM is also providing Subscription and Support for these products via a separately purchased offering under the terms of the IBM International Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance. This offering:
- Includes and extends the support services provided in the base support to include technical support via telephone.
- Entitles you to future releases and versions, at no additional charge. Note that you are not entitled to new products.
When Subscription and Support is ordered, the charges will automatically renew annually unless cancelled by you.
The combined effect of the IPLA license and the Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance gives you rights and support services comparable to those under the traditional ICA S/390® and z Systems license or its equivalent. To ensure that you continue to enjoy the level of support you are used to in the ICA business model, you must order both the license for the program and the support for the selected programs at the same Value Unit quantities.
Withdrawal from marketing information
A new product release within a version supersedes the release level that precedes it. Accordingly, the following product releases will be withdrawn from marketing, effective on the date the new release becomes available.

Full-capacity mainframes
In cases where full capacity is applicable, the following terms apply.
Execution based, z/OS based, full machine based: The required capacity of a z Systems IPLA program with these terms equals the MSU-rated capacity of the machines where the z Systems IPLA program executes.
For more information on mainframe MSU-rated capacities, visit
Reference based: The required license capacity of a z Systems IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the parent program.
Sub-capacity mainframes
In cases where sub-capacity is applicable, the following terms apply.
Execution based: The required capacity of a z Systems IPLA sub-capacity program with these terms equals the capacity of the LPARs where the z Systems IPLA program executes.
z/OS based: The required license capacity of a z Systems IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of z/OS on the machines where the z Systems IPLA program executes.
Reference based: The required license capacity of a z Systems IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the parent program.
Full machine based: The required license capacity of a z Systems IPLA program with full machine based terms equals the MSU-rated capacity of the machines where the z Systems IPLA program executes.
For more information on mainframe MSU-rated capacities, refer to The IBM z Systems Machines Exhibit , Z125-3901, or visit the Mainframes section of the z Systems Exhibits website.
For additional information for products with full machine-based terms, z Systems IPLA sub-capacity programs with full machine-based terms adds value to the parent program across the environment, regardless of where in the environment the z Systems IPLA program executes.
An environment is defined as either a single or stand-alone machine or a qualified Parallel Sysplex®. You may have one or more different environments across the enterprise. To determine the required license capacity for each z Systems IPLA program with referenced-based terms, each environment should be assessed separately.
When a z Systems IPLA sub-capacity program with full machine-based terms is used in a qualified Parallel Sysplex environment, the required license capacity of the z Systems IPLA program must equal with the license capacity of the parent program across the Parallel Sysplex. Qualified Parallel Sysplex refers to one where MLC pricing is aggregated across the sysplex.
Sub-capacity eligibility
To be eligible for sub-capacity charging on select z Systems IPLA programs, you must first implement and comply with all terms of either sub-capacity Workload License Charges (WLC) or sub-capacity Entry Workload License Charges (EWLC). To implement sub-capacity WLC or EWLC, a machine must be z Systems (or equivalent). On that machine:
- All instances of the OS/390® operating system must be migrated to the z/OS operating systems.
- Any licenses for the OS/390 operating system must be discontinued.
- All instances of the z/OS operating systems must be running in z/Architecture® (64-bit) mode.
For that machine, you must create and submit a Sub-Capacity Report to IBM each month. Sub-Capacity Reports must be generated using the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT). For additional information or to obtain a copy of SCRT, visit the z Systems Software Pricing website
You must comply with all of the terms of the WLC or EWLC offering, whichever is applicable:
- The complete terms and conditions of sub-capacity WLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement - Attachment for z Systems Workload License Charges (Z125-6516).
- The complete terms and conditions for sub-capacity EWLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement - Attachment for EWLC, TWLC, zELC, and z/OS.e License Charges (Z125-6587).
Additionally, you must sign and comply with the terms and conditions specified in the amendment to the IPLA contract - Amendment for Amendment for IBM z Systems Programs Sub-Capacity Pricing (Z125-6929). Once the amendment is signed, the terms in the amendment replace any and all previous z Systems IPLA sub-capacity terms and conditions.
Sub-capacity utilization determination
Sub-capacity utilization is determined based on the utilization of a sub-capacity eligible reference product and machine.
On/Off CoD
To be eligible for On/Off CoD pricing, you must be enabled for temporary capacity on the corresponding hardware, and the required contract, Attachment for IBM z Systems On/Off Capacity on Demand (Z125-7883) must be signed prior to use.
Statement of good security practices |
IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective. IBM does not warrant that systems and products are immune from the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
