IBM DB2 Recovery Expert for z/OS, V3.1 (5655-W78) provides a simple, self-managing recovery solution that enables database recovery operations with minimal disruption. DB2 Recovery Expert for z/OS enables intelligent analysis of altered, incorrect, or missing database assets, including table spaces, tables, indexes, and data. It automates the process of rebuilding these assets to a specified point in time, often without taking the database or the business operations offline.
DB2 Recovery Expert supplies a high availability solution for companies concerned with 24 x 7 operations. By taking advantage of the latest storage system replication features, DB2 Recovery Expert can perform system-level backups quickly with little or no impact on running applications. Valuable host CPU and I/O time is saved by using the storage processor to make the copy instead of z/OS.
DB2 Recovery Expert:
- Provides backup features that exploit sophisticated storage processor
capabilities enabling:
- High application availability while data is quickly backed up to a consistent copy of production data
- Reduction of CPU and I/O costs by using the storage processor to copy the data instead of z/OS
- Reduced database administrator time and effort while executing fast replication processing
- Automated validation at the time of backup to confirm the recovery of all objects or the complete DB2 subsystem
- Provides automated recovery features that:
- Save valuable time when recovering entire DB2 subsystems from system backups using fast replication
- Significantly reduce downtime and the associated costs of this downtime when recovering database objects or groups of objects to a specific point in time from fast replication backups
- Simplify DB2 subsystem disaster recovery and restart
- Provides an "intelligent recovery manager" that significantly
reduces recovery time and effort by providing the information users
need to quickly decide upon the best recovery point and the best recovery
method for their use. The intelligent recovery manager can help users
to:
- Easily recover dropped objects, including recovering data to a point in time before the drop.
- Reduce manual efforts by identifying recovery points. The recovery manager analyzes the DB2 log to find quiet times or points of consistency for single or groups of objects that can be used for recovery points.
- Generate SQL-based recoveries that can roll-forward or back-out changes to individual tables or groups of objects, a recovery process that is unique among IBM DB2 recovery tools.
- Simplify the process of recovering an object or application set of objects to a prior version, even if the object's DDL has changed.
- Quickly choose the most appropriate and cost-efficient method of recovery by analyzing all recovery assets and presenting several recovery "plans" or methods with an estimated cost for each method.
DB2 Recovery Expert V3.1 includes the following enhancements:
- Streamlined product customization using IBM Tools Customizer for z/OS, a product that provides a single interface and process for customizing products that belong to the IBM DB2 Tools family.
- Extended the recovery capabilities of the V2.2 GUI to the ISPF interface for ease of use. The enhanced ISPF interface now includes dropped object recovery, versioned object recovery, SQL undo/redo recovery, and log analysis functionality.
- Eliminated the need to separately install a local version of the graphical interface for each user by redesigning it to run within a web browser.
- Simplified the recovery process for dropped objects, in both the ISPF and browser client, by adding the ability to read DB2 log records when re-creating the object's image to a point in time, eliminating the need to update the schema level repository.
- Automated the process to restore object authorizations when recovering dropped objects.
- Automated the process of binding plans and packages when recovering objects and dropped objects.
- Expanded the types of objects that can be recovered to include indexes, views, synonyms, aliases, data types, triggers, functions, stored procedures, sequences, and roles.
- Help for administrators to better plan when they create copies by adding the ability to update Real-Time Statistics (RTS) when creating fast-replication image copies.
- Added the ability to generate DDL for an object or group of objects as they currently exist or as they existed at some historical point in time.
- Seamlessly use the latest technology with IPv6, now a supported communication protocol between Recovery Expert's server, agent, and user interface tiers.

- This information provides only general descriptions of the types and portions of workloads that are eligible for execution on Specialty Engines (SEs) such as zIIPs, zAAPs, and IFLs. IBM authorizes customers to use IBM SEs only to execute the processing of eligible workloads of specific programs expressly authorized by IBM as specified in the Authorized Use Table for IBM Machines (AUT) provided at
No other workload processing is authorized for execution on an SE. IBM offers SEs at a lower price than General Processors/Central Processors because customers are authorized to use SEs only to process certain types or amounts of workloads as specified by IBM in the AUT.
DB2 Automation Toolkit for z/OS the SAP Edition, V2.2 (5655-W74) provides an easy-to-use interface to DB2 Utilities Suite, which offers a full set of utilities that handle a wide variety of tasks that help improve productivity, performance, and availability. For further information, refer to Software Announcement 211-384, dated October 11, 2011.
- DB2 Automation
Tool now provides the ability to add batch builds and utility execution
jobs to the DB2 administrative
task scheduler. The DB2 administrative task scheduler allows jobs
to be scheduled for one or more executions based on a set of user-provided
parameters. DB2 Automation
Tool provides an interface that allows the following functionality:
- Create new tasks.
- Update and view existing tasks.
- Delete tasks.
- View the status and output of executed tasks.
Any of the following DB2 Automation Tool-generated jobs can be scheduled:
- Job profiles (online build and batch builds)
- Unload utility jobs
- Disaster recovery profiles
- DB2 Automation Tool can now invoke a DB2 stored procedure immediately before, or during, or immediately after exceptions processing. This feature allows you to code any type of DB2 stored procedure that will either accept (trigger) or reject (not trigger) an object. The stored procedure can be a native SQL procedure, an external SQL procedure, or an external written in C, COBOL, or any programming language supported by DB2. The user exit will be called by exceptions processing during three processing phases and passed information about every object in the object profiles included in the job profile.
- DB2 Automation Tool now offers an interface to the DB2 10 autonomic statistics stored procedures. The stored procedures determine if statistics need to be collected and automate when RUNSTATS should be run. DB2 Automation Tool also provides an interface to manage maintenance windows for executing the RUNSTATS utility. APARs PM49638 and PM50141 (coreqs) must be applied to DB2 Automation Tool V4.1 to use this feature.
- DB2 Automation Tool now supports the CHECK DATA utility. You can create utility profiles for CHECK DATA and include them in job profiles.
- DB2 Automation Tool is now customized using IBM Tools Customizer, a common component that can manage most of the post SMP/E installation customization tasks for the IBM DB2 tools.
- A real-time statistics exception condition was added that can trigger an object if a REORG, LOAD, or RUNSTATS was performed on an object since the last image copy.
- The manner in which an exceptions profile user exit REXX EXEC is called has been changed, enabling the REXX EXEC to be stored into memory. Once the REXX EXEC is loaded, it can process all objects in an object profile without being repeatedly loaded and freed. This allows REXX EXECs that do DB2 CALLS to connect and disconnect only once for all objects per profile invocation.
- New exception conditions enable you to:
- Specify a partition number, or a range of partition numbers, with a condition such as LE or GT. This allows you to exclude or include only partitioned or nonpartitioned objects, in general JCL.
- Specify to exclude or include only partition-by-growth table spaces.
- Trigger an exception if the number of days since a table space (or its related tables or indexes) was last altered meets your criteria. You can also specify to trigger an exception if an object has never been altered.
- Trigger an exception based on the percentage or the maximum allocated space the object has been allocated with or the percentage of the maximum amount of space that the object is using. These values also appear in the "Objects included in generated JCL" portion of the exceptions SYSOUT report.
- SYSPUNCH and SYSREC template support has been added for the REORG TABLESPACE utility.
- User-designated unit types can now be specified when allocating persistent data sets in utility profiles. If you need to specify a device type that is not in your site's eligible devicetable, you can provide a device name and type in a new panel.
- You can now create an image copy GDG base in a DB2 Recovery Expert image copy utility, with the limitation that date and time variables cannot be used in the GDG base.
- Load balancing support has been added to the Modify utility. This feature functions the same as current load balancing for COPY, COPYTOCOPY, and REORG jobs.
- You can now route informational, warning, and error messages that are generated by the DB2 Automation Tool batch build process to one, two, or three different DD names. If desired, you can override the DD names at the individual job level.
- The ISPF interface has been enhanced to support additional customization via the CUAATTR command. Additional interface enhancements were made to improve usability and uniformity with other IBM products.
- As part of efforts to concentrate on delivering the most value-added features to our customers, DB2 Automation Tool's Disaster Recovery feature is deprecated in Version 4.1 and will be removed in a future release. For a comprehensive solution that enables recovery operations with minimal disruption, including disaster recovery, IBM recommends IBM DB2 Recovery Expert for z/OS.

The result can be improved productivity for problem analysts, more efficient IMS application performance, and higher system availability.
New features and enhancements offered with IMS Performance Analyzer for z/OS, V4.3:
- OMEGAMON for IMS Application
Trace Facility (ATF): Collects detailed information about
every application call made by IMS and DBCTL transactions. DLI and DB2 call
results are recorded in the ATF journal, including function code,
SSA, KFBA, and I/O area. This helps you conduct the most in-depth
analysis of transaction behavior available.
IMS Performance Analyzer provides management and reporting of ATF, including:
- Archival of the online ATF journals to offline data sets for post-analysis. Filtering criteria allows you to archive problem transactions only, significantly reducing the volume of data kept and time to resolution.
- Three levels of reporting are provided, from summarization of transaction activity and high-level transaction detail, to in-depth traces that report every detail about each application DLI call.
Additionally, support for OA36278: INTERIM FEATURE 3 (IF3) is provided.
- Improved CICS-DBCTL reporting: The CICS® transaction
ID and task number are now reported in DBCTL form-based reports. This
allows you to match the CICS transaction as reported by CICS Performance
Analyzer with the IMS thread reported by IMS Performance Analyzer and to better
understand the impact of IMS on CICS transaction performance.
In addition, form-based reporting provides a more granular breakdown of syncpoint processing, including phase 1, phase 2, and OTHREAD elapsed times.
- IMS Version
10, 11 and 12 support: Exploits all the new features and instrumentation
in the IMS log
and monitor:
- IMS Version 10: Type 56FA transaction accounting record provides more accurate transaction CPU time, DLI call, database I/O, and ESAF usage.
- IMS Version 11: Synchronous call-out (ICAL) and Open Database.
- IMS Version 12: Improved MSC statistics.
In addition:
- Sysplex reporting supports changes in the IMS version across log files, allowing you to seamlessly continue IMS Performance Analyzer reporting when migrating to a new version of IMS.
- The impact of synchronous call-out (ICAL) requests on overall transaction performance can be measured.
- New specialized reporting: The Log Information report provides a synopsis of the log record types in the IMS log, including record count, lengths, rate per second, and volume. Selected record types are broken down further to provide additional information about transaction arrival and processing rates.
- Transaction Index: The index is improved to append diagnostic information from the IMS log when available, for example, the deadlock diagnostic record. In addition, you can specify exception criteria to record problem transactions only.
- Form-based reporting: Form-based reporting provides
flexible, user-customizable transaction performance analysis. Further
enhancements provide improved specialized analysis:
- CICS-DBCTL, including thread availability and scheduling delay.
- Syncpoint time breakdown, including phases 1 and 2.
- OTHREAD: to determine the length of time the (asynchronous) OTHREAD process takes to update Fast Path areas.
- Program switch sequences can be better tracked and summarized.
- BMP syncpoint/checkpoint activity.
- Individual database update activity: determining which transactions update which databases.
- External subsystem activity: determining which transactions use DB2, and whether for update or read-only.
- Connect Transaction Index: Contains a record for
each Connect transaction recorded in the IMS Connect Extensions journal, and
includes all the cumulative information from the Connect Extensions
journal about that transaction.
IMS Problem Investigator for z/OS uses the Connect Index to perform intelligent problem detection, either on its own or merged with the associated Connect Extensions journals and IMS log files, to provide improved levels of problem detection. For example, "Locate all transactions with response time greater than 1 second," then use tracking to drill down.
- Application Groups: Allow you to group transactions that belong to the same business or application unit for reporting purposes, allowing you to analyze performance based on business unit rather than individual transaction code.
- Internal resource usage enhancements: The internal
resource usage report (IRUR) is enhanced to support the new statistics
provided by IMS Version
12:
- Logical Logger
- TCP/IP
- Tools Base IMS Tools Knowledge base: IMS log reporting can now write reports directly to the IMS Tools Knowledge Base repository for historical collection and viewing from the IMS Tools KB dialog. IMS Tools Knowledge Base is a component of IBM Tools Base for z/OS, V1.3 (5655-V93).

Value Unit-based pricing
Value Unit pricing for eligible IBM System z IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA) programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth and enterprise aggregation. Each System z IPLA product with Value Unit pricing has a single price per Value Unit and a conversion matrix, called Value Unit Exhibit, for converting from some designated measurement to Value Units. Most commonly, Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the measurement designated by IBM to be converted to Value Units. Some other measurements are engines or messages. Since MSUs are the most common measurement, that measurement will be used for the remainder of this description.
Value Unit pricing offers price benefits for you. For each System z IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the required license capacity. Each of the various Value Unit Exhibits stipulate that the larger your required license capacity, the fewer Value Units per MSU you will need. Value Unit Exhibits are uniquely identified by a three-digit code and referred to using the nomenclature VUExxx, where xxx is the three-digit code.
Subsequent acquisitions of Value Unit priced programs offer additional price benefits. The quantity of each System z IPLA program that you have acquired is referred to as entitled license capacity. If you want to grow your entitled license capacity for a System z IPLA program, the calculation to determine additional needed Value Units is based upon the number of Value Units already acquired.
For each System z IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, you should:
- Determine the required license capacity, in MSUs
- Aggregate the MSUs across the enterprise
- Convert the total MSUs to Value Units, using the applicable Value Unit Exhibit
- Multiply the price per Value Unit by the total number of Value Units to determine the total cost
To simplify conversion from the designated measurement to Value Units or vice-versa, use the Value Unit Converter Tool. For additional information or to obtain a copy of the Value Unit Converter Tool, visit the Value Unit Converter Tool website
Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Units of another product.
To determine the required license capacity for the System z IPLA program you selected, refer to the Terms and conditions section.

Subscription and Support
To receive voice technical support via telephone and future releases and versions at no additional charge, Subscription and Support must be ordered. The capacity of Subscription and Support (Value Units) must be the same as the capacity ordered for the product licenses.
To order, specify the Subscription and Support program number (PID) referenced above and the appropriate license or charge option.
IBM is also providing Subscription and Support for these products via a separately purchased offering under the terms of the IBM International Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance (IAASM). This offering:
- Includes and extends the support services provided in the base support to include technical support via telephone.
- Entitles you to future releases and versions, at no additional charge. Note that you are not entitled to new products.
When Subscription and Support is ordered, the charges will automatically renew annually unless cancelled by you.
The combined effect of the IPLA license and the Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance gives you rights and support services comparable to those under the traditional ICA S/390 and System z license or its equivalent. To ensure that you continue to enjoy the level of support you are used to in the ICA business model, you must order both the license for the program and the support for the selected programs at the same Value Unit quantities.
Subscription and Support for IMS Tools Solution Packs
Customers who license IMS Solution Packs, and who have previously separately licensed one or more of the component products included in a Solution Pack, should discontinue subscription and support for the previously licensed component products. For additional information about IMS Solution Packs and their component products, refer to Software Announcement 210-030, dated February 09, 2010.

In cases where full capacity is applicable, the following terms apply.
Execution based, z/OS based, full machine based: The required capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the MSU-rated capacity of the machines where the System z IPLA program executes.
For more information on mainframe MSU-rated capacities, visit
Reference based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the parent program.
Sub-capacity mainframes
In cases where sub-capacity is applicable, the following terms apply.
Execution based: The required capacity of a System z IPLA sub-capacity program with these terms equals the capacity of the LPARs where the System z IPLA program executes.
z/OS based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of z/OS on the machines where the System z IPLA program executes.
Reference based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the parent program.
Full machine based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with full machine based terms equals the MSU-rated capacity of the machines where the System z IPLA program executes.
For more information on mainframe MSU-rated capacities, refer to the IBM System z Machines Exhibit, Z125-3901, or visit the Mainframes section of the System z Exhibits website
For additional information for products with reference-based terms, System z IPLA sub-capacity programs with reference-based terms adds value to the parent program across the environment, regardless of where in the environment the System z IPLA program executes.
An environment is defined as either a single or stand-alone machine or a qualified Parallel Sysplex®. You may have one or more different environments across the enterprise. To determine the required license capacity for each System z IPLA program with referenced-based terms, each environment should be assessed separately.
When a System z IPLA sub-capacity program with reference-based terms is used in a qualified Parallel Sysplex environment, the required license capacity of the System z IPLA program must equal with the license capacity of the parent program across the Parallel Sysplex. Qualified Parallel Sysplex refers to one:
- Where MLC pricing is aggregated across the sysplex
Sub-capacity eligibility
To be eligible for sub-capacity charging on select System z IPLA programs, you must first implement and comply with all terms of either sub-capacity Workload License Charges (WLC) or sub-capacity Entry Workload License Charges (EWLC). To implement sub-capacity WLC or EWLC, a machine must be System z (or equivalent). On that machine:
- All instances of the OS/390® operating system must be migrated to the z/OS operating systems.
- Any licenses for the OS/390 operating system must be discontinued.
- All instances of the z/OS operating systems must be running in z/Architecture® (64-bit) mode.
For that machine, you must create and submit a Sub-Capacity Report to IBM each month. Sub-Capacity Reports must be generated using the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT). For additional information or to obtain a copy of SCRT, visit the System z Software Pricing website
You must comply with all of the terms of the WLC or EWLC offering, whichever is applicable:
- The complete terms and conditions of sub-capacity WLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement - Attachment for System z Workload License Charges (Z125-6516).
- The complete terms and conditions for sub-capacity EWLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement - Attachment for IBM System z 890 and 800 License Charges (Z125-6587).
Additionally, you must sign and comply with the terms and conditions specified in the amendment to the IPLA contract - Amendment for IBM System z9® and System z Programs Sub-Capacity Pricing (Z125-6929). Once the amendment is signed, the terms in the amendment replace any and all previous System z IPLA sub-capacity terms and conditions.
Sub-capacity utilization determination
Sub-capacity utilization is determined based on the utilization of a sub-capacity eligible reference product and machine.
On/Off Capacity on Demand (CoD)
To be eligible for On/Off CoD pricing, you must be enabled for temporary capacity on the corresponding hardware, and the required contract, Attachment for IBM System z On/Off Capacity on Demand (Z125-7883) must be signed prior to use.

Statement of good security practices |
IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective. IBM does not warrant that systems and products are immune from the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.

- Includes and extends the support services provided in the base support to include technical support via telephone
- Entitles you to future releases and versions, at no additional charge. Note that you are not entitled to new products
For additional information about IMS Solution Packs and their component products, refer to Software Announcement 210-030, dated February 09, 2010 and Software Announcement 211-384, dated October 11, 2011.
