Description |
IBM Application Performance Analyzer for z/OS V9.1
Printed (static) reports are now available as XML format output in addition to the text and Adobe® Postscript formats previously available. The output data can be used for post processing as desired. The XML output is the same functionally as the output of the other two forms. XML reports can be used for both viewing with an appropriate XML reader or used to capture relevant information from the output.
The recommendations support is enhanced to include general tips and hints to compliment the specific recommendations support previously provided.
Source mapping from the appropriate files to the program has been enhanced to make it easier and more effective for users to map the source to the sample file. In addition, the C/C++ Elf/Dwarf side files are now supported by Application Performance Analyzer when mapping source statements to load modules found in a sample file. Application Performance Analyzer now issues a warning message to the user when the date and time stamp on the load module do not match the source information.
The summary report called S01 has been enhanced to provide more information. It also includes the job name in the title of the report. When you have zIPP or zAPP processors installed, they are reported in the summary report S08 as well as DB2 reports F15 through F19. This provides users with the ability to understand the job use of these two processors. This information can be used to help maximize the use of these processors when installed.
The start-up Observation Session List panel now displays a list of commonly used primary commands at the top of the screen to assist those users new to Application Performance Analyzer. Once you become familiar with the Observation Session List, these commands can be hidden from view by entering the HIDE primary command. They can be redisplayed by entering the SHOW primary command.
When sampling an IMS region, specific IMS transactions can now be sampled, instead of the whole region.
CICS reporting has been enhanced to report terminal ID, and the sample file can select particular terminal ID's or masks of those ID's as sampling criteria.
When scheduling a new measurement, you can now specify wildcards in order to generate measurements for multiple jobs in one request.
The initial display of the sample files in Application Performance Analyzer can now be sorted by list and by date and time. The default is by request number. The command setup permits this modification from the main Application Performance Analyzer screen.
IBM Debug Tool for z/OS V9.1
IBM Debug Tool for z/OS V9.1 replaces all prior versions of both IBM Debug Tool for z/OS and IBM Debug Tool Utilities and Advanced Functions for z/OS. Debug Tool for z/OS V9.1 includes all of the function in the previous separate products as well as the new V9.1 function. Delivering this single comprehensive product provides significantly more function to existing Debug Tool for z/OS customers, and will help simplify ordering and installation. Current licensees of IBM Debug Tool Utilties and Advanced Functions Subscription and Support (5655-J19) are entitled to Debug Tool for z/OS V9.1. That existing 5655-J19 S&S offering is renamed IBM Debug Tool Subscription and Support. Existing Debug Tool for z/OS customers, looking to upgrade, will need to order the improved Debug Tool for z/OS V9.1 (5655-U27). It is recommended that they obtain the IBM Debug Tool Subscription and Support (5655-J19) as well.
- A utility has been added to Debug Tool that can help users edit JCL to include Debug Tool enablement so that a debug session is started when the modified JCL is submitted for execution.

- Supports Assembler Copybook
- Allocates non-VSAM file from Catalog Services and allows allocation of
new VSAM file without model
The RENAME and ALTER functions and commands, available from 3.4 Catalog services and 3.5 VTOC (which are currently synonymous), will be logically separated, especially for VSAM processing. The new behavior for VSAM RENAME will be to invoke a new panel File Manager FMNPSREN, which will allow only for the CLUSTER name change and adjust the component names accordingly. The behavior for non-VSAM RENAME will be the same as before, that is, existing ALTER panel will be used which allows for dsname change and other smaller alterations.
- Provides support for DSP/DSM ignore length errors
File Manager provides support for ignoring record length errors while selecting records with DSP and DSM. The enhancement applies to File Manager/BASE and File Manager/CICS components. In addition, Data Set Edit Batch (DSEB) will be enhanced to allow for similar support.
- Includes ISPF compatibility (overlay, copy, cut, and paste)
This enhancement provides an equivalent of the ISPF OVERLAY prefix commands, COLS prefix command, COPY primary command, and CUT and PASTE commands
- Updates to File Manager BATCH allow initialization of empty datasets
File Manager is enhanced to provide support for initialization of empty datasets, which are the target of WRITE File Manager External Function invocations with user procedures.
- DATAHDR/HEADERPG/PAGESIZE and settings in Batch
File Manager provides enhancements to the DATAHDR and HEADERPG processing.
- Allows concatenation of unlike datasets, sequential and PDS, especially
DSC
File Manager enhances File Manager processing of concatenated data sets having unlike data set attributes.
- Batch initiator constraint relief
File Manager provides an alternative method of invoking File Manager/CICS (and File Manager Rational Developer for System z interface) for those users concerned with batch initiator use. While a separate File Manager address space will still be created per user, it will be created by a running File Manager server and, therefore, not require the submission of a batch job to start each user's File Manager address space.
- Extended Address Volume support
File Manager provides for support of Extended Address Volumes. An Extended Address Volume is defined currently to be any (disk) volume that has more than 65,520 cylinders. For volumes that are configured with 65,520 cylinders or less, which is today's largest size, these are defined to be non-Extended Address Volume.
- Adds TCP/IP Version 6 (IPv6) compliance
File Manager has been updated to support the IPv6 structure while maintaining its support for the IPv4 structure.
- Generates mixed case XML from mixed case COBOL data definitions (ADATA
support)
To support mixed case COBOL field names when generating a template using the Enterprise COBOL V4.1, or later compiler that supports the ADATA describing the case of the field.
- Integrates File Manager with Rational Developer for System z
The following has been added to support the integration of File Manager with Rational Developer for System z:
- Template editing capability (File Manager Rational Developer for System z interface specific).
- Template expression validation ability (File Manager Rational Developer for System z specific).
- Template edit Offset command support.
- SAVEAS ability from within editor (File Manager Rational Developer for System z specific).
- Returning of function output (File Manager Rational Developer for System z specific) option.
- Data set related functions allocate, delete, rename, alter are added.
- Supports data set copy support for library members with names consisting
of lowercase and unprintable characters
The File Manager design of the Data Set Copy function will be enhanced to provide support for library members with names consisting of lowercase (both Batch and ISPF) and unprintable characters (full support Batch and partial support in ISPF).
- Has summary statistics for various batch functions
If the following functions are coded with a tally literal as described, then the literal will be displayed on the tally report with respective count:
- CHANGE, CHG_OUT
- CONTAINS
- FLD_CO
- FLD_OUT
- FLD_TM
- FLD_TYPE, NCONTAIN
- OFLD_CO, OVLY_OUT
- SET_OLEN, TFLD

Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act
The products in this announcement are capable as of its general availability, when used in accordance with IBM documentation, of satisfying the applicable requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, provided that any assistive technology used with the product properly interoperates with it.
Value Unit-based pricing
Value Unit pricing for eligible IBM System z IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA) programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth and enterprise aggregation. Each System z IPLA product with Value Unit pricing has a single price per Value Unit and a conversion matrix, called Value Unit Exhibit, for converting from some designated measurement to Value Units. Most commonly, Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the measurement designated by IBM to be converted to Value Units. Some other measurements are engines or messages. Since MSUs are the most common measurement, that measurement will be used for the remainder of this description.
Value Unit pricing offers price benefits for you. For each System z IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the required license capacity. Each of the various Value Unit Exhibits stipulate that the larger your required license capacity, the fewer Value Units per MSU you will need. Value Unit Exhibits are uniquely identified by a three digit code and referred to using the nomenclature VUExxx, where xxx is the three digit code.
Subsequent acquisitions of Value Unit priced programs offer additional price benefits. The quantity of each System z IPLA program that you have acquired is referred to as entitled license capacity. If you wish to grow your entitled license capacity for a System z IPLA program, the calculation to determine additional needed Value Units is based upon the number of Value Units already acquired.
For each System z IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, you should:
- Determine the required license capacity, in MSUs
- Aggregate the MSUs across the enterprise
- Convert the total MSUs to Value Units, using the applicable Value Unit Exhibit
- Multiply the price per Value Unit by the total number of Value Units to determine the total cost
To simplify conversion from the designated measurement to Value Units or vice-versa, use the Value Unit Converter Tool. For additional information or to obtain a copy of the Value Unit Converter Tool, visit the Value Unit Converter Tool Web site
Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Units of another product.
To determine the required license capacity for the System z IPLA program you selected, refer to the Terms and conditions section.

VU Value Unit
VU Value Unit is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. VU Value Unit entitlements are based on the quantity of a specific designated measurement, either users or resources, for the given program. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate number of VU Value Units required for your environment as defined by the specific program terms. The VU Value Unit entitlements are specific to the program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with VU Value Unit entitlements of another program. To understand these benefits of VU Value Unit licensing, and to determine how many VU Value Units to obtain for the program, contact your IBM representative.
The programs in this announcement all have Value Unit-Based pricing.

Special note on Debug Tool for z/OS
IBM Debug Tool for z/OS V9.1 replaces all prior versions of both IBM Debug Tool for z/OS and IBM Debug Tool Utilities and Advanced Functions for z/OS. This single Debug Tool for z/OS V9.1 product includes all of the function in the previous separate products as well as the new V9.1 function. That existing 5655-J19 S&S offering is renamed to IBM Debug Tool Subscription and Support. Existing Debug Tool for z/OS customers looking to upgrade, will need to order the improved Debug Tool for z/OS V9.1 (5655-U27). It is recommended that they obtain the IBM Debug Tool Subscription and Support (5655-J19) as well.
Subscription and Support
To receive voice technical support via telephone during normal business hours and future releases and versions at no additional charge, Subscription and Support must be ordered. The capacity of Subscription and Support (Value Units) must be the same as the capacity ordered for the product licenses.
To order, specify the Subscription and Support program number (PID) referenced above and the appropriate license or charge option.
IBM is also providing Subscription and Support for these products via a separately purchased offering under the terms of the IBM International Agreement for Acquisition of Support (IAAS). This offering:
- Includes and extends the support services provided in the base support to include technical support via telephone during normal business hours.
- Entitles customers to future releases and versions at no additional charge. Note that the customer is not entitled to new products.
When Subscription and Support is ordered, the charges will renew automatically annually unless cancelled by the customer.

Sub-capacity terms and conditions
For each System z IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the required license capacity. Your required license capacity is based upon the following factors:
- The System z IPLA program you select
- The applicable Value Unit Exhibit
- The applicable terms
- Whether your current mainframes are full capacity or sub-capacity
For more information on the Value Unit Exhibit for the System z IPLA program you selected, refer to the Ordering information section.
Program Parent, number Program name Terms if applicable 5697-P10 Application Execution-based Performance Analyzer for z/OS V9 5655-U27 Debug Tool Execution-based for z/OS V9 5655-U28 Fault Analyzer Execution-based for z/OS V9 5655-U29 File Manager Execution-based for z/OS V9
Full-capacity mainframes
In cases where full capacity is applicable, the following terms apply.
Execution based, z/OS based, full machine based: The required capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the MSU-rated capacity of the machines where the System z IPLA program executes.
For more information on mainframe MSU-rated capacities, visit
Reference based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the parent program.
Sub-capacity mainframes
In cases where sub-capacity is applicable, the following terms apply.
Execution based: The required capacity of a System z IPLA sub-capacity program with these terms equals the capacity of the LPARs where the System z IPLA program executes.
z/OS based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of z/OS on the machines where the System z IPLA program executes.
Reference based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the parent program.
Full machine based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with full machine based terms equals the MSU-rated capacity of the machines where the System z IPLA program executes.
For more information on mainframe MSU-rated capacities, refer to The IBM System z Machines Exhibit, Z125-3901, or visit the Mainframes section of the System z Exhibits Web site
For more information on sub-capacity System z IPLA terms and conditions, refer to Software Announcement 204-184, dated August 10, 2004.
For additional information for products with reference-based terms, System z IPLA sub-capacity programs with reference-based terms adds value to the parent program across the environment, regardless of where in the environment the System z IPLA program executes.
An environment is defined as either a single or stand-alone machine or a qualified Parallel Sysplex®. You may have one or more different environments across the enterprise. To determine the required license capacity for each System z IPLA program with referenced-based terms, each environment should be assessed separately.
When a System z IPLA sub-capacity program with reference-based terms is used in a qualified Parallel Sysplex environment, the required license capacity of the System z IPLA program must equal with the license capacity of the parent program across the Parallel Sysplex. Qualified Parallel Sysplex refers to one:
- That meets the criteria defined in Hardware Announcement 198-001, dated January 13, 1998.
- Where MLC pricing is aggregated across the sysplex.
Sub-capacity eligibility
To be eligible for sub-capacity charging on select System z IPLA programs, you must first implement and comply with all terms of either sub-capacity Workload License Charges (WLC) or sub-capacity Entry Workload License Charges (EWLC). To implement sub-capacity WLC or EWLC, a machine must be System z (or equivalent). On that machine:
- All instances of the OS/390 operating system must be migrated to the z/OS operating systems.
- Any licenses for the OS/390 operating system must be discontinued.
- All instances of the z/OS operating systems must be running in z/Architecture® (64-bit) mode.
For that machine, you must create and submit a Sub-Capacity Report to IBM each month. Sub-Capacity Reports must be generated using the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT). For additional information or to obtain a copy of SCRT, visit the System z Software Pricing Web site
You must comply with all of the terms of the WLC or EWLC offering, whichever is applicable:
