Effective December 8, 2015, IBM® will withdraw from marketing IBM Rational® Developer for AIX® and Linux™ C/C++ Edition licensed under the IBM International Program License Agreement. The withdrawn program will not be replaced with a new offering.
On this date, IBM will also withdraw from marketing the following select part numbers and features of other programs. The remainder of the programs will continue to be available.
- Effective December 8, 2015, IBM Rational Developer for AIX and Linux C/C++ Edition is being withdrawn from marketing. This program is fulfilled through both the Distributed Software (DSW) fulfillment system and the Entitled Software (ESW) fulfillment system. This program is being withdrawn in both systems. New license purchases, trade-ups, and maintenance reinstatement part numbers (DSW) and feature numbers (ESW) will be withdrawn from both systems on December 8, 2015.
- The three-year maintenance renewal feature numbers for this program will also be withdrawn on December 8, 2015. The one-year maintenance renewal part numbers and feature numbers will be withdrawn at a later date that will be at least 16 months prior to September 30, 2019, when the most recent version of the program (9.1.x) reaches eligibility for End of Service consistent with IBM's software Lifecycle Policy. Customers are encouraged to adopt the Software Development Kit for Linux on Power® as replacement for IBM Rational Developer for AIX and Linux C/C++ Edition. The Software Development Kit for Linux on Power is a free IBM offering available at
- IBM Rational Developer for AIX and Linux AIX COBOL Edition is also a program that is fulfilled through both the DSW and ESW systems. All ESW feature numbers for this program will be withdrawn and will be fulfilled only through the DSW systems. Customers who have obtained this program through the ESW system are encouraged to open a support ticket with IBM Client Support, requesting that their entitlements for this program be migrated to the DSW systems.
- As both editions of IBM Rational Developer for AIX and Linux are being withdrawn from the ESW system, their associated AAS PIDs (57xx-RDX) and feature numbers will also be withdrawn on the same date.
- IBM Rational Developer for the Enterprise is a Soft Bundle offering that is fulfilled through the DSW systems only. This program remains available, and will continue to be available with the Authorized User license metric, but it will no longer be available with the Floating User Single Install license metric. In addition, this bundle will no longer include the IBM Rational Developer for AIX and Linux C/C++ Edition offering and the IBM Rational Developer for AIX and Linux AIX COBOL Edition offering, as announced for Rational IDEs in Software Announcement AP15-0371, dated September 01, 2015.
