Overview

IBM TS7700 is the seventh generation of IBM virtual tape system technology, delivering next-level cybersecurity while maintaining the reliability and availability of the mainframe enterprise storage platform. This generation was built to support businesses across hybrid multicloud, grid cloud, and object store deployments. In addition to cloud storage tier enhancements around multicloud pool support and cloud-based full disaster recovery capabilities, TS7700 optimizes data protection and business continuance for IBM Z data while improving storage economics, system resiliency, and data stability for mission-critical workloads.

TS7770 is built on the IBM Power Systems platform and includes the following:

  • Two 10 core, 3.8 GHz processors
  • 64 GB DDR4 Memory
  • 16 Gb FICON® (up to four adapters, two ports per adapter, 512 paths per port)
  • 1 Gb copper and 10 Gb longwave grid network (up to four ports total)
  • Four 16 Gb Fibre Channel (FC) attachment to disk cache and tape drives (up to 16 ports)
  • SSD or SAS for Power Systems
  • Common DS8000 Power Systems hardware, I/O bays, and adapters
  • Single-phase power (30 A) and three-phase 400 V support
  • Primary Ethernet and FC adapters integrated into Power Systems slots

Shortly after the introduction of TS7770 5.0, IBM Storage released a second expansion frame for TS7770. This second expansion frame delivers a maximum capacity of 3.9 PB for one base frame with two fully populated expansion frames. IBM also released an iRPQ for the clients to install a TS7770 into their own client-supplied 19-inch rack. This iRPQ-8B3721 enables clients to order one TS7770 Server 3957 Model VED, one Cache Controller 3956 Model CSB, and up to nine Cache Module Model XSBs, as well as all other associated features to be installed in their own client-supplied rack.

Key requirements

TS7700 servers attach to FICON channels on select IBM Z servers and require the appropriate levels of IBM Z software.

16 Gb FC switches are required when connecting TS7770 Model VED with a TS3500 or TS4500 tape library.

Overview

Watson Machine Learning Server 2.0 extends IBM Watson Studio and IBM Watson Machine Learning offerings. This offering complements Watson Studio Desktop by building models using AutoAI, scaling SPSS Modeler workloads, and providing powerful tools for model management and deployment in many frameworks. In addition to Watson Studio Desktop and SPSS Modeler, similar capabilities, such as those added in this release, are also available in Watson Studio and Watson Machine Learning on IBM public and private clouds.

AutoAI graphical tool in Watson Studio connects to Watson Machine Learning Server and helps you automatically analyze your structured data and generate candidate model pipelines customized for your predictive modeling problem. These model pipelines are created iteratively as AutoAI analyzes your dataset and discovers data transformations, algorithms, and parameter settings that work best for your problem setting.

With IBM Watson Studio Desktop Perpetual 2.0, a component of SPSS Modeler, you can schedule batch deployment jobs on Watson Machine Learning Server. From a deployment space, you can specify input data and write predictions to an output file, run the deployment job, and view the resulting batch predictions. More types of data sources, such as a database, are supported in this release. Users can also increase productivity through the capabilities to export the content of a deployment space to a file or create a new deployment space by importing information from a file.

In addition, Watson Studio Desktop 2.0 offers the following capabilities:

  • Watson Studio Desktop Data Refinery with unlimited file sizes. Can now handle unlimited file sizes whether in assets or database connections in a manner similar to SPSS Modeler.
  • Extension nodes. Users can now embed R or Python snippets in SPSS Modeler streams, using Extension Import, Extension Output, Extension Transform, Extension Model, and Extension Export nodes.
  • Model parameters within Auto Classifier node. SPSS Modeler users using the Auto Classifier node can specify model parameters, so they can run multiple models with custom selections with a single Auto Classifier node.
  • Inclusion of IBM Planning Analytics and IBM SPSS Statistics. Two highly requested connector programs, Planning Analytics and SPSS Statistics, are included in Watson Studio Desktop. Users can exploit SPSS Statistics to analyze data and import their unencrypted file into Watson Studio Desktop for model development. They can export their SPSS Statistics files when finished. Similarly, users can import and export Planning Analytics and IBM Cognos Analytics file types into and out of Watson Studio Desktop. Watson Studio Desktop 2.0 also added the ability to import SAP OData files.
  • SPSS Modeler canvas design feature refresh. SPSS Modeler in Watson Studio Desktop includes new icons, images, node interactivity, and node labels. You can take advantage of improved tool-tip information boxes when hovering over each node icon.

Secure File Transfer Essentials Edition

Secure File Transfer Essentials Edition is designed for smaller organizations that are starting to research the capabilities of a centralized MFT solution. These organizations may experience challenges with FTP-based file transfer products and are looking at MFT solutions to offer increased reliability, security, and visibility of file transfer exchanges. Secure File Transfer Essentials Edition is an entry-level solution that addresses these common MFT challenges by focusing on FTP remediation.

Sterling Secure Proxy and Secure External Authentication Server

Sterling Secure Proxy 6.0 series and Secure External Authentication Server 6.0 series deliver features and enhancements that improve security for your organization's MFT file exchanges and provide containers to simplify hybrid cloud deployments.

Certified containers . Take advantage of certified containers to simplify deployment of Sterling Secure Proxy and Secure External Authentication Server on hybrid cloud infrastructures. Sterling Secure Proxy certified containers are built to Kubernetes standards and qualified on the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform.

Certified containers are also available for other Sterling B2B Collaboration offerings:

  • IBM Sterling B2B Integrator
  • Sterling File Gateway
  • Sterling Connect:Direct
  • IBM Transformation Extender

Inflight, dynamic virus and malware scanning. This feature enables organizations to configure Sterling Secure Proxy to use ICAP server protocols to scan incoming files over HTTP and Sterling Connect:Direct protocol for viruses and malware before files are allowed to enter the enterprise trusted zone. A user interface for ICAP server configuration facilitates basic security setup and supports advanced scanning settings, such as maximum file size, file type, and connection retry limits. File management capabilities also include the ability to redirect large files to improve performance.

Monitor availability status of Secure External Authentication Server. Sterling Control Center users can monitor Sterling Secure Proxy and its defined adapters through the web console UI. In 6.0.1, users can now also view the status of Secure External Authentication Server instances and monitor instance availability from the web console.

Advanced IP address monitoring and validation. Sterling Secure Proxy provides the capability to connect to third-party sources that can be used to identify trusted and untrusted IP address sources and to deny trusted zone access to suspect connections. Security administrators use provided pre-authorization and post-authentication user exits to connect to external services, validate IP sources, and if necessary, block connections from suspect sources, such as connections from specific countries or regions.

Secure File Transfer

The component products in Secure File Transfer run on common enterprise-grade operating systems that include Linux, multiple UNIX® platforms, Microsoft Windows™, and Linux on IBM Z.

Sterling Secure Proxy

Sterling Secure Proxy runs on multiple operating systems, including IBM AIX®, Red Hat Linux, HP-UX, Solaris, and Microsoft Windows. For the latest system requirements, see the Software Products Compatibility Reports website. Select Detailed system requirements and search for Sterling Secure Proxy.

Sterling Secure Proxy containers, built to Kubernetes standards, are validated on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.11. Separate purchase of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.11 is required. The electronic downloads for Sterling Secure Proxy containers do not include Red Hat OpenShift.

Secure External Authentication Server is an optional, separately installed component for the following B2B and MFT offerings: Sterling Secure Proxy, Sterling B2B Integrator, Sterling File Gateway, and Sterling Connect:Direct.

IBM Datacap packaging and licensing simplification and new open source components

Overview

IBM Datacap 9.1.7 (5725-C15) features intelligent information capture capabilities that employ optical character recognition (OCR), AI, and other techniques to identify and extract information from structured, semistructured, and unstructured content. Efficient processing workflows and tools are designed to feed and power business applications such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) systems, as well as robotic process automation projects at high velocity and scale.

Datacap 9.1.7 updates include:

  • Datacap Medical Claims add-on is now available as an open source add-on.
  • The Datacap connectors and associated actions for email, file systems, and fax server connections are now included in the Datacap user licenses. Clients that are running Datacap 9.1.7, or later, on all production and nonproduction systems are no longer required to purchase separate email, file system, and fax server connector licenses.
  • Content Classification is no longer a part of Datacap Insight Edition.
  • Datacap Enterprise Edition and Datacap Rulerunner Enterprise have been replaced with Datacap Insight Edition.
  • Datacap licensing in the IBM Cloud Pak for Automation is updated such that only Datacap Rulerunner requires VPC licensing.

Datacap release lifecycle updates

The Digital Business Automation (DBA) portfolio products that released in June 2020, which include Content Manager and Content Navigator, are supported by Datacap 9.1.7 iFix 2.

Datacap Medical Claims add-on

The Datacap Medical Claims add-on is now open source.

Datacap Medical Claims add-on includes a preconfigured medical claims capture application that provides capture, image enhancement, recognition, verification, and export for CMS 1500 medical claim forms and UB-04 institutional claim forms.

IBM / Medical-Claims-Application-for-Datacap is now available on GitHub under the MIT open source license.

Updates to Automation Mobile Capture

The following are new capabilities in Automation Mobile Capture:

  • Signature confirmation. Prompts the user to confirm that a document has been signed. This feature is used for verifying shipments, product delivery, and consent to start a business process.
  • High-speed digitization. Enables users to capture multipage documents swiftly without the need to verify the data with OCR on each page. Image quality is high, properly cropped, and instantly ready for further processing from Datacap. This feature can be used as an alternative to scanners or fax machines if they are inconvenient when receiving the document.
  • Data type suggestion. Enables the user to anticipate the type of data they are going to receive from a document (such as a string, number, date, email, and so on). The user can then designate this data type, leading to improved extraction rates.
  • Passport recognition enhancements.
  • Increased configurability for LDAP connections.

IBM Content Classification

IBM Content Classification has been removed from Datacap Insight Edition. Content Analyzer replaces this capability in Insight Edition. Datacap Insight Edition clients who are currently using Content Classification can continue to use it and will continue to get support through the end of the Datacap 9.1.7 support cycle (at least through the end of 2022).

Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Standard Edition works with Sterling B2B Integrator supporting various use cases from setting up mailboxes and EDI envelopes to automating the document testing process with your suppliers and customers. By transforming the labor-intensive document testing process into a self-service effort, you can help to onboard your suppliers and customers faster and even expand the documents traded in your supply chain.

Set up and configure your partners faster. Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Standard Edition helps accelerate your onboarding processes with an administrative interface that helps in the configuration of your various business processes. Whether it is setting up routing channels for connectivity or setting up EDI envelopes and various business processes needed to set up your document processing, Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Standard Edition shortens the configuration time and automates the individual setup processes for your trading partners.

Take control with better partner management. Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Standard Edition includes more predefined activities and an expanded list of APIs that works with those activities. Some of these new activities include setting up self-service updates for passwords, certificates, and keys associated with the various connectivity protocols used to communicate with your trading partners. Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Standard Edition monitors the various expiration dates and delivers a predefined activity that alerts your partners of expiring password, certificates, or keys. It then guides a partner through a predefined activity to update the password, certificate, or key without requiring any effort on your side. Because these predefined activities are included in Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Standard Edition, you can get them up and running and productive in very little time.

Maintain your partner contacts. Because it is essential that you can maintain contact with your partners, it is important to send out reminders to your partners to validate and update their contact details. Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Standard Edition includes an automated process to send out periodic requests to your partners asking them to validate their contact details. You can set the time intervals to send out reminders. As a default, Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Standard Edition will send a notice every six months to your partners asking them to validate and update their contact details.

Monitor the progress of your partners. Like Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Essentials Edition, Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Standard Edition includes an interface that lets you monitor the progress of your partners. You have complete visibility into the progress of a campaign involving a group of partners completing an activity. The monitoring interface lets you follow the flow of the activity for all partners so you can concentrate on the partners that are behind and may require assistance. With Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Standard Edition, you can drill down to the level of detail that you need to know exactly where your partners are in their activity workflows. Each workflow tags the user in each step so that you have complete auditability into which user has completed each step in the activity.

Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Essentials Edition and Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Standard Edition are delivered as containerized offerings that can be deployed on premises or on the cloud provider of your choice. Both Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Essentials Edition and Sterling Partner Engagement Manager Standard Edition can be entitled as either a perpetual software license or a committed term license.

Overview

Red Hat Marketplace is a simpler way to try, buy, and manage certified enterprise software for container-based environments in public clouds and on-premises. With automated deployment, software is immediately available to use on any Red Hat OpenShift cluster, and helps organizations deliver enterprise software and improve workload portability.

Red Hat Marketplace with Committed Use, an optional discount program for Red Hat Marketplace, delivers discounts for organizations on purchases and fees within Red Hat Marketplace when offerings are acquired at a committed use level for a 12-month term. Each committed use level increases the percentage discount.

Organizations have access to online dashboards to monitor discount and spend tracking so they can manage these metrics throughout the committed term.

In the event an organization does not meet the committed use at the end of a 12-month committed term, IBM will charge the organization a remaining commitment fee. The remaining commitment fee is equal to the amount of the minimum spend level in Red Hat Marketplace minus the actual amount an organization spends during the 12-month committed term.

Effective November 13, 2020, IBM will withdraw from marketing the following products. On or after the effective date of withdrawal, you can no longer order these products directly from IBM.

For new orders, the client-requested arrival date (CRAD) can be no later than December 13, 2020.

You can obtain the products on an as-available basis through IBM Business Partners.

If you have a continuing need for this machine/model type, go to the IBM Certified Pre-owned Equipment website to check on availability or utilize the request a quote to communicate your specific requirements. IBM Certified Pre-owned Equipment has the largest inventory of used IBM systems that are refurbished, tested, and warranted for a minimum of 90 days.
