Overview |
DataPower Gateways are a high-performance, multi-channel gateway solution that secure and optimize API, Mobile, Web, service-oriented architecture (SOA), business-to-business (B2B), and Cloud workloads. The DataPower Gateways are used in mission-critical applications based on their robust nature and are in the critical path of important transactions. When business applications have issues, the turnaround time to resolve critical issues must be quick and without any delay to avoid significant revenue loss and reputation damage.
Operational insight into DataPower Gateways can help resolve important issues and help ensure stability within the IT infrastructure.
- Self-service console for developers to troubleshoot their own services. Developers use a self-service console for troubleshooting their own transactions. This can enable quicker problem resolution without involvement from IT infrastructure teams.
- Access payload and transactional metadata from business applications, which includes transactions that cross multiple DataPower Gateway instances, to help aid centralized troubleshooting and help minimize potential service disruptions.
- Customizable dashboards for displaying key operational data. Dashboards allow viewing of important operational information about all DataPower Gateways within the environment and customizing them to help meet enterprise standards and requirements.
- Ability to capture transactional and service information from DataPower Gateways over an extended period of time. Create ad hoc or scheduled reports for business purposes, such as chargeback reporting, or ensuring that service level agreements (SLA) are met.
- Full-text search with advance filters to find transactions and DataPower configuration. Using advance search technology to find information from individual transactions or DataPower configuration. This capability can help isolate issues in the IT environment by helping to quickly identify messages or service configurations that are causing issues.
- Ability to help identify security compliance issues from DataPower services. Identify enterprise security compliance issues within DataPower services, which include secure socket layer (SSL; client-server), authorization, schema validation, and encryption.
Key prerequisites |
This solution requires a separate virtual machine that monitors one or more DataPower Gateway instances, which can be either DataPower physical appliance or DataPower Virtual Edition.

Description |
DataPower Operations Dashboard delivers an advance operations console module for centralized troubleshooting. This solution provides real-time operational visibility into business applications that are secured and optimized by DataPower Gateways. This console allows operations staff and developers deep insight into transactions processed on DataPower Gateways to help in problem determination and quicker time to resolution. In environments with large amount of data, you can quickly search for information using full-text search and obtain fast results, helping to isolate components that are unstable.
Enabling developer productivity
Developers are an integral part of your IT infrastructure. They drive business innovation and accelerate time to market with innovative features. Any successful developer requires the right tools to perform their day-to-day job. When developers are writing policies or business-unique requirements on DataPower Gateways, they need a quick way to troubleshoot their issues in a non-disruptive manner and without constant involvement from administrative staff.
The DataPower Operations Dashboard provides a self-service console for developers that only show their transactions and services. This console delivers quick visibility into the availability of their services. Developers can organize their services in a wiki-style repository that is automatically updated with new services, real-time information and statistics. When complex issues arise that require deep troubleshooting, you can use the profiling capabilities to examine individual steps to perform rigorous analysis.
Helping administrators maintain a stable environment
Administrators, whether they are operations or infrastructure engineers, are often the first point of contact when issues arise. Because they are typically tasked with managing the overall infrastructure, they can become overwhelmed with information. They need tools to quickly identify issues or help isolate the problem areas to either solve or seek assistance from appropriate teams.
The DataPower Operations Dashboard provides customizable dashboards to view important operational information about all DataPower Gateways within the environment. These dashboards can be customized to meet enterprise standards and requirements. Using advanced search technology enables full-text search within seconds to find information from individual transactions. These tools help in problem determination and identify components that are causing issues.
Meeting enterprise compliance and SLA
Meeting compliance and SLAs can be difficult if capturing the data to validate that requirements are met can not be performed. Because DataPower Gateways are often the initial point of contact for many mission-critical applications, you can capture transactional and service information over an extended period of time to provide proof of compliance. Using the DataPower Operations Dashboard, you can quickly create ad hoc or scheduled reports for business purposes, such as chargeback reporting or ensuring that SLAs are met. Security events and configuration can be examined to determine if any security compliance issues exist so that proactive measures can be taken to avoid future issues.
