dashDB is the IBM data warehousing and analytics service in the cloud. This new innovation leverages the advanced, IBM in-memory capabilities that are pioneered in BLU Acceleration and advanced, in-database, predictive analytics capabilities, which are introduced in PureData® System for Analytics (Netezza).
A fully managed service
dashDB keeps data warehousing infrastructure out of your way so you can focus on the business, not the business of data warehousing. A fully managed solution in the cloud, it offers:

You can use standard business intelligence and analytics tools to gain insight, or even bring in data from external sources to complete your analysis. dashDB is the only in-memory analytic database that is tightly optimized for use with Cloudant.
The hybrid cloud
dashDB supports hybrid data infrastructures within an enterprise, allowing database users to utilize the same tools and applications for their on-premises data warehouse with dashDB in the cloud. Moving data from the ground-based on-premises systems to cloud infrastructure in dashDB makes it easy to move data between the two technologies and extend your data warehouse to the cloud.

DataWorks enables the fluid data layer that allows data to move easily from one environment to another (with built-in quality and cleansing), and Watson Analytics provides the cognitive visualization of that data. dashDB is the high-performance, analytically structured data store that enables high-performance queries and analytics.
