IBM CICS Transaction Gateway for Multiplatforms 9.3 and IBM CICS Transaction Gateway Desktop Edition 9.3 deliver enhanced security and simplified DevOps

PDF versionPDF

Overview

IBM® CICS® Transaction Gateway (CICS TG) for Multiplatforms 9.3 and IBM CICS TG Desktop Edition 9.3 can provide high-performing, security-rich, and scalable connectivity to CICS Transaction Server family, CICS TX family, and IBM TXSeries® for Multiplatforms. Specifically, CICS TG for Multiplatforms 9.3 and CICS TG Desktop Edition 9.3 deliver new capabilities:

  • Containerization
    • Introduction of a container image for CICS TG for Multiplatforms to enable rapid deployment on cloud infrastructure. This new container image is based on Red Hat® Universal Base Image (UBI) and is available on both Linux® on IBM Z® and Linux on Intel™ platforms. It can be deployed on IBM z/OS® Container Extensions (IBM zCX).
  • Platform support
    • Ability to operate as a 32-bit or 64-bit address space. CICS TG 1 9.3 can operate as a 32-bit or 64-bit 2 address space, enabling organizations to standardize on a 64-bit ecosystem.
    • Support for Linux on Power® Little Endian (LE). This support enables organizations to leverage IBM Power hardware as a choice of deployment.
  • Security
    • New APIs to support standardized security solutions using JSON Web Token (JWT) for Java™, Java Enterprise Edition Connector Architecture (JCA), Microsoft™ .NET Framework, and .NET Core client applications.
    • Support for identity propagation with IBM WebSphere® Application Server Liberty. The CICS TG 9.3 resource adapter can be configured with the Java Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS) login module to provide identity propagation to CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS).
  • .NET applications
    • Optimal resource utilization and quicker response times using connection pools in .NET Framework and .NET Core. This capability supersedes IBM SupportPac CA77: CICS Transaction Gateway connection pooling for Microsoft .NET, which is no longer required.
    • Support for national language support (NLS)-enabled CICS TG messages in .NET Framework and .NET Core applications.
  • High availability and scalability
    • CICS TG 9.3 supports high-availability topologies and request validation rules. This capability supersedes IBM SupportPac CA1T: High-availability exits for use with CICS TG, which is no longer required.
  • New JCA management contracts
    • The CICS TG 9.3 resource adapter now supports all three management contracts described in the JCA 1.7 specification: LocalTransaction, XATransaction, and NoTransaction.

1 Where the text describes the joint capabilities of CICS TG for Multiplatforms 9.3 and CICS TG Desktop Edition 9.3, then it is simply referred to as CICS TG 9.3.

2 64-bit support is available on IBM AIX®, Linux on IBM Z, Linux on Intel, and Linux on Power LE.

IBM Process Mining as a Service provides a single-tenant cloud service to analyze discovered processes, gain actionable insights for improvement, and identify the best activities for automation

PDF versionPDF

At a glance

IBM Process Mining as a Service benefits:

  • Automatically discovers, constantly monitors, and optimizes business processes
  • Uses business and IT system data to create and visualize an end-to-end process that includes all the process activities involved along with the various process paths
  • Facilitates process automation by finding the best process candidates for automation, calculates expected ROI, and shows the impact of automation initiatives on the entire process before implementation

Overview

Process Mining as a Service is offered both as a standalone offering and as an integrated software capability with the broader set of business automation capabilities in IBM Cloud Pak® for Business Automation. The new standalone offering expands the organization's deployment options with a consumption-based subscription model accessed through a cloud service managed by IBM.

Process Mining as a Service applies specialized data mining algorithms to processes, cases, and events logged by enterprise applications to better understand real work done by employees. It helps locate hidden bottlenecks and pinpoints where automation could lead to the biggest process improvements. Benefits include the following:

  • Easily discover and model processes. Automatically discover process flows by applying data mining algorithms to event logs that include extracting data from enterprise applications, such as SAP, Salesforce, and Workday, and then automatically generate process models.
  • Gain actionable insights with customized KPIs. Apply data analysis patterns to discovered processes, visually verifying metrics, such as frequency, duration, cost, compliance, and conformance, with advanced data visualizations on custom drag-and-drop dashboards; define and evaluate company-specific KPIs and compare two or more process variants for a more holistic view of your process management.
  • Uncover clear root causes for targeted fixes. Look more closely at the processes that have issues and uncover exactly where and why problems are happening with root-cause analysis visualizations, whether there is a resource snag, approval delay, or other irregularity at a specific point in a business process.
  • Simulate future processes. Generate a digital twin to create hypothetical scenarios from as-is processes. For a more accurate twin, mine business rules to understand existing logic. You can use your digital twin to adjust resource allocations, add robotic process automation (RPA) bots, alter business rules, and more. To calculate ROI, you can run simulations comparing as-is and what-if processes. You can then refine models and disqualify unproductive changes.
  • Build an automation plan and enact it. Use insights collected about performance, productivity, and frequency to design and optimize a clear automation strategy. Whether you want to reduce nonconformant decisions, diminish process deviations, or simply accelerate document processing, you can seamlessly implement changes.

Key requirements

Processing Mining as a Service is offered as a managed cloud service. A client device or workstation with a supported web browser is required to access the cloud service.

Revised license information: IBM Sterling Order Management Software 10.0.x

PDF versionPDF

Overview

IBM Sterling® Order Management Software is a comprehensive solution suite that includes multiple editions, add-on components, as well as traditional and container distributions. To simplify entitlement management across the solution suite, licenses are updated.

Standardized resource value unit (RVU) table for order lines now used across the solution suite

A single, standard RVU table, enables graduated tier pricing, and guides entitlement purchase volumes and tracks order line consumption across the solution suite. The RVU changes apply to all base and add-on components, and help to maintain the consistency in the scaling ratio and conversion calculation by balancing the quantity transition across the entitlement tiers.

Supporting programs referenced in licenses no longer include version numbers

Supporting programs that are bundled and entitled as restricted use with Sterling™ Order Management Software no longer include version numbers. This change lets organizations use the latest versions of the supporting programs instead of waiting for a Sterling Order Management Software license update. Affected supporting programs include the following:

  • IBM Db2®
  • IBM MQ Advanced
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty
