289-653 IBM SYSTEM/88 IEEE 802.3/ETHERNET LICENSED PROGRAM SUPPORT
        AVAILABLE
The System/88 (TM) Transmission Control Protocol/Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) protocol set is an implementation of several of the
standard protocols defined for the Defense Advanced Research Projects
Agency (DARPA).  It allows the System/88 user to participate in a
multi-vendor IEEE 802.3 or Ethernet network that uses TCP/IP to
interface with other systems that have TCP/IP protocols.  TCP/IP
includes interfaces for transferring files and logging on to a remote
host in a network of heterogeneous systems.
It also supports connectivity for System/88s that are
LAN-attached to IBM personal computers, IBM PS/2 (R)s, IBM RT (R)
(IBM 61XX), DEC, Sun Microsystems (1) and Apollo workstations.
TCP/IP uses the System/88 IEEE 802.3 LAN Adapter (feature number
1630) for connection to the selected network.
The availability of System/88 Network File System (5732-047)
will be announced in the first quarter, 1990.

289-643 IBM 4680 STORE MANAGEMENT APPLICATION WITH PRICE MANAGEMENT
        AND INVENTORY CONTROL FEATURES AVAILABLE
The IBM 4680 Store Management Application (program number 5601-152)
consists of a Checkout and Service Desk Application and two optional
features: Price Management and Inventory Control.  The Checkout and
Service Desk Application consists of the IBM 4680 General Sales
Application Version 1 Release 2 functions and additions needed to
satisfy the requirements of hardlines retailers, such as hardware
stores, home centers, or lumberyards.  The Price Management Feature
gives the store manager the ability to manage up to six unique prices
for every item in the store.  Using either retail or cost percentages
as a basis for pricing, item prices can be changed manually, by
dollar or percent discount, or by a profitability percent.  The
Inventory Control Feature provides the capability to maintain an
accurate count of all items in the store based upon sales and
receipts.  Additionally, it provides a library of reports that
includes sales analysis and sales history, comparative sales, and
stock status.  The IBM 4680 Operating System Version 2 is required.

289-644 IBM DOBIS/LEUVEN LIBRARY SYSTEM VERSION 2 PROGRAM OFFERING
IBM DOBIS/Leuven Library System Version 2 provides a complete
library service for the modern library environment and helps
librarians handle traditional library management activities.
Traditional processing methods involve enormous duplication of
clerical effort -- for instance, the same bibliographic information
must be typed individually for catalog and book cards, reservation
and borrower records, order forms, and inter-library loan requests.
Communications between departmental libraries are often difficult,
and catalogs may be incomplete and scattered.  Computerization of
library activities is clearly a viable solution.  IBM DOBIS/Leuven
Library System Version 2 provides enhancements as well as combining
the features of Dortmund Library System Version 1 (5787-DAA), Leuven
Library System -- Batch (5787-FAH), and Leuven Library
System -- Online (5787-FAJ).
