289-653 IBM SYSTEM/88 IEEE 802.3/ETHERNET LICENSED PROGRAM SUPPORT
AVAILABLE
The System/88 (TM) Transmission Control Protocol/Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) protocol set is an implementation of several of the
standard protocols defined for the Defense Advanced Research Projects
Agency (DARPA). It allows the System/88 user to participate in a
multi-vendor IEEE 802.3 or Ethernet network that uses TCP/IP to
interface with other systems that have TCP/IP protocols. TCP/IP
includes interfaces for transferring files and logging on to a remote
host in a network of heterogeneous systems.
It also supports connectivity for System/88s that are
LAN-attached to IBM personal computers, IBM PS/2 (R)s, IBM RT (R)
(IBM 61XX), DEC, Sun Microsystems (1) and Apollo workstations.
TCP/IP uses the System/88 IEEE 802.3 LAN Adapter (feature number
1630) for connection to the selected network.
The availability of System/88 Network File System (5732-047)
will be announced in the first quarter, 1990.

189-186 IBM PS/2 WIZARD ADAPTER AND IBM PS/2 WIZARD MEMORY EXPANSION
OPTION
The PS/2 (R) Wizard Adapter, with a 33MHz Intel i860 (1)
microprocessor, enhances PS/2 systems by offering high levels of
numeric-intensive processing capability in a standard PS/2. The IBM
PS/2 Wizard Adapter (#3462, 34F3062) is an application accelerator
busmaster card for the IBM PS/2 Models 70 and 80 that significantly
increases performance by adding the Intel i860 microprocessor for
advanced, numeric-intensive applications. The i860 processor
features a RISC integer core, an advanced floating point processing
unit, a graphics unit, internal instruction cache and internal data
cache in a single 1-million transistor chip. The adapter also
contains 2MB of random access memory (RAM), which is expandable to a
total of 8MB using the IBM PS/2 Wizard Memory Expansion Option
(#3461, 34F3061).
The IBM PS/2 Wizard Adapter uses a set of application device
drivers, shipped with the product, that enable operation with
Operating System/2 (TM) (OS/2 (R)). It is IBM's intention to provide
AIX (TM) support for the IBM PS/2 Wizard Adapter on PS/2 systems in a

289-644 IBM DOBIS/LEUVEN LIBRARY SYSTEM VERSION 2 PROGRAM OFFERING
IBM DOBIS/Leuven Library System Version 2 provides a complete
library service for the modern library environment and helps
librarians handle traditional library management activities.
Traditional processing methods involve enormous duplication of
clerical effort -- for instance, the same bibliographic information
must be typed individually for catalog and book cards, reservation
and borrower records, order forms, and inter-library loan requests.
Communications between departmental libraries are often difficult,
and catalogs may be incomplete and scattered. Computerization of
library activities is clearly a viable solution. IBM DOBIS/Leuven
Library System Version 2 provides enhancements as well as combining
the features of Dortmund Library System Version 1 (5787-DAA), Leuven
Library System -- Batch (5787-FAH), and Leuven Library
System -- Online (5787-FAJ).
