Abstract

Top rule

IBM Content Manager OnDemand for i 7.4.0

Content Manager OnDemand for i is optimized for efficiently storing and managing large volumes of static content, which are typically generated by enterprise applications as print streams. Examples of high-volume static content are customer correspondence, such as:

  • Credit card statements
  • Utility bills, policies
  • Explanation of benefits
  • Trade confirmations
  • Check images

Content Manager OnDemand for i 7.4 provides new archive capability to cloud storage and management of cloud storage resources. In addition, there are enhancements to storage management commands and improved management of printing, querying, and retrieving documents.

This offering gives organizations additional license options to improve ordering flexibility:

VPC licensing

A VPC is a unit of measurement by which a program can be licensed. You must obtain entitlement for each VPC made available to the program.

The pricing of the content management offerings is based on the number of VPCs that your server uses. A VPC can be a virtual core assigned to a virtual server or a processor core in a nonpartitioned physical server. You must license each virtual processor made available to the program.

PDF Indexer

PDF Indexer feature is now included with Content Manager OnDemand for i.

Content Manager OnDemand for i includes entitlement to IBM Content Manager OnDemand for i PDF Indexer, a feature that previously was available only for an additional fee.

Clients must be running the latest Content Manager OnDemand version and agree to current license information documentation to take advantage of this feature.

New licensing options for the non-production environment

Additional license options have been added to improve ordering flexibility with the availability of Premium Feature Packs for the non-production environment.

IBM Content Manager OnDemand for i 7.3.0

A new chargeable component called Premium Feature Pack for i is now available. It includes four optional features of Content Manager OnDemand (OnDemand Distribution Facility, PDF Indexer, Full Text Search and Enhanced Retention Management) and can be licensed on a per-install basis. Each license of Premium Features Pack provides entitlement to one install of each included feature and can be used with single Content Manager OnDemand. Features included in Premium Feature Pack are also available as before on an individual basis with Processor Value Unit (PVU) based licensing. Premium Feature Pack provides a simplified alternative to get all four features in a single package at a flat pricing model.

IBM Content Manager OnDemand for i 7.3 adds support for report distribution, provides APIs for adding document programmatically through client applications, and improves usability.

IBM Content Manager OnDemand for i 7.3 provides a new Premium Feature Pack:

  • The Change Policy Level Date (CHGPLDOND) command now supports specification of a report ID (Load ID) to provide added storage management flexibility throughout the life of your data.
  • Archive Storage Manager reports are now stored in the System Log for easier access and long term archive choices.
  • Content Manager OnDemand component is now supported in IBM Navigator for i, the browser based interface for administering your IBM i system. The Content Manager OnDemand component supports all of the administrative tasks currently available in the OnDemand Archive plugin of System i Navigator, but requires no special software on the user's workstation.
  • The OS/400 Indexer now supports indexing up to 378 character wide spooled files to expand indexing capabilities for very wide reports.
  • Hold threshold support is added to the IBM i commands Start Disk Storage Management (STRDSMOND) and Remove Report from OnDemand (RMVRPTOND) to better manage your document storage requirements when using Enhanced Retention Management (optional feature).
  • Metadata fields are increased to 128 (from 32) so that documents may now be indexed with up to 128 metadata fields.

IBM Content Manager OnDemand for i 7.3.0

IBM Content Manager OnDemand for i is optimized for efficiently storing and managing large volumes of static content which are typically generated by enterprise applications as print streams. Examples of such high volume static content are customer correspondence such as credit card statements, utility bills, policies, explanation of benefits, trade confirms, and check images. Other examples include enterprise reports generated to conduct business activity or to communicate business performance.

IBM Content Manager OnDemand for i provides several benefits as outlined below.

Help eliminate costly, high volume print output: By directly capturing print output streams for customer correspondence -- credit card statements, enterprise reports, policies, trade confirmations etc. and converting them into digital form that is easily searchable and accessible from web browsers, smart phones and tablets, organizations can potentially control costs associated with paper storage, printing documents, mailing and maintaining staff and office space for managing these functions.

Help increase customer satisfaction and retention: IBM Content Manager OnDemand for i includes ODWEK (OnDemand Web Enablement Kit) with Java APIs that can be used to integrate enterprise customer facing portals or web applications with IBM Content Manager OnDemand to enable customer self-service solutions such as eStatement Presentment which allows customers to access their statements and other information at any time.

Help improve call center responsiveness: IBM Content Manager OnDemand for i includes entitlement to IBM Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms which includes IBM Content Navigator, a non-chargeable component. IBM Content Navigator helps users within the enterprise, such as call center representatives, to rapidly search and retrieve relevant customer information via mobile devices or via web browser thereby potentially improving responsiveness and increasing customer satisfaction.

Help enhance compliance and efficiency: With optional, separately licensed Content Manager OnDemand features for Records Management and Enhanced Retention Management, you are able to manage the lifecycle of various types of documents that need to be retained for compliance with regulatory requirements. You can categorize checks, reports, statements, and invoices as records and manage them efficiently from within IBM Enterprise Records Management software. This leads to several potential benefits such as reduced risk exposure, lower discovery and litigation costs, lower records administration costs.

Enhanced Retention Management, an optional feature lets you manage the lifecycle of various types of documents that are not necessarily needed for compliance with regulatory requirements but nevertheless have business value and need to be retained for a definite period. Enhanced Retention Management provides a simplified mechanism to control the lifecycle of the content and the ability to lockdown an individual document within a report to prevent expiration at a document level.

Help improve business agility and decision making: Every enterprise needs business reports to conduct its operations and to track business performance. Providing timely reports on business operations and business performance to business stakeholders is critical for business agility. OnDemand Distribution Facility is a new optional feature of IBM Content Manager OnDemand for i V 7.3 that provides automated report distribution capability using reports in IBM Content Manager OnDemand for i. Reports can be distributed to various users by email or by print on scheduled basis. A graphical interface is included for monitoring report distribution tasks, creating report bundles, checking system statistics, etc.

Improved Usability: IBM Content Navigator, included with IBM Content Manager OnDemand, can be used to enable end-users to access, manage and work with enterprise content directly from web browsers and iOSB. mobile devices. Users can retrieve reports, statements, check images, and other documents with just a few clicks. Well suited for both local and remote users, this intuitive client application offers many Content Manager OnDemand features including:

  • Customizable interfaces (skins).
  • Search across multiple repositories (IBM Content Manager OnDemand, IBM Content Manager, IBM Content Foundation, FileNet Content Manager and other third-party content repositories supporting CMIS interface).
  • Multiple document window views from a single viewer framework.
  • Browse, Search and Retrieve functions for portal environments.
  • Ability to print search results from Server.
  • Ability to send documents residing in IBM Content Manager OnDemand as a link or as a PDF attachment of an email.
  • Ability to add documents. This requires IBM Content Navigator Version 2.0.3.6, or later.
