Description

Top rule

Enterprises and organizations are creating, analyzing, and keeping more data than ever before. Those that can deliver insights faster while managing rapid infrastructure growth are the leaders in their industry. To deliver those insights, an organization’s underlying storage must support both new-era, big-data applications and traditional applications with high performance, reliability, and security.

To handle massive unstructured data growth, storage must scale seamlessly while matching data value to the capabilities and costs of different storage tiers and types. Spectrum Scale meets these challenges and more. It is a high-performance parallel file system for managing data at scale with the distinctive ability to perform archive and analytics in place.

Automated tiering is just the beginning of managing data. As data expands, the amount of data that is untouched grows even faster. Spectrum Archive is designed to address data storage inefficiencies by changing the economics of storage with a layer of intelligent software. This software creates an efficient data footprint that dynamically stores every bit of data at an optimal cost, helping to maximize performance and ensure greater security.

Data access requires reliable interfaces managed on reliable operating systems. The Converged Archive Solution is built on the RHEL operating system. When combined with Spectrum Scale, these systems deliver scalability, very high availability, and reliability with no single point of failure in large-scale storage infrastructures.

The Power S924 technology-based server is the foundation for the Converged Archive Solution. Leveraging the unique, comprehensive IBM approach to the cloud, Power S924 servers help deliver near seamless and light-speed throughput I/O between multiple on-premises and public cloud applications and cloud-like agility and economics by supporting the IBM Spectrum Storage Suite.

The Converged Archive Solution bundle helps to reduce complexity in determining the requirements for a single system. All components of the solution are provided through a single ordering system. The converged archive solution is the most economical unstructured data solution in environments that are small (starting at 100 terabytes) to very large (supporting TS4500 at over one exabyte per library). The Converged Archive Solution provides ease of connectivity for users, machine-produced unstructured data, and archive target storage behind content management solutions.

The Converged Archive Solution provides the lowest cost data tier for data when installed in an existing Spectrum Scale or IBM Elastic Storage® Server cluster as part of a high-performance flash to tape solution. The same ability to connect to an existing cluster also enables the expansion of storage to include IBM FlashSystems with NVM Express (NVMe) extreme performance or FlashSystem-dense hard disk drive (HDD) systems.
