Overview
Effective December 31, 2021, IBM® will discontinue support for Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) Transparency Connector 3.1.0 for Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) from the IBM Spectrum® Scale offerings listed in the Program number section.
Cloudera has announced the end of support for HDP 3.1 as of December 31, 2021. Therefore, IBM will discontinue support for HDP in the IBM Spectrum Scale and IBM Spectrum Scale for Elastic Storage Server (ESS) offerings on December 31, 2021.
Due to the HDFS Transparency Connector dependency on the Cloudera Distribution certification, when Cloudera ends support for HDP 3.1, the corresponding HDFS Transparency Connector version 3.1.0 will no longer be supported for all IBM Spectrum Scale and IBM Spectrum Scale for ESS editions.
Note that the later HDFS Transparency connector version 3.1.1 supporting Cloudera CDP version 7.1.6, and higher, will continue to be supported by IBM Spectrum Scale and IBM Spectrum Scale for ESS.
It is recommended that IBM Spectrum Scale or IBM Spectrum Scale for ESS clients running HDP 3.1 contact their IBM or Cloudera representative for more details about migration options.
