Machine Setup Support Services

Machine Setup Support Services for IBM® Power® Systems is an optional, independent service over and above base hardware and software support services (Basic Maintenance) for eligible products. Machine Setup Support Services includes an IBM Support Services Representative (SSR) to perform the following:

  • Assemble the machine, including the interconnection of required IBM machine cables
  • Install the machine, including active IBM features and attachments ordered, but excluding non-IBM alterations and attachments
  • Install the primary Hardware Management Console (HMC), if required
  • Install and activate the most recent versions of IBM-approved hardware microcode
  • Power on the machine and ensure it boots error-free

The service does not include installation of the rack, PDUs, or secondary HMC; configuring LPARs; updating HMC code or I/O microcode; nor the installation of an operating system.

This service covers installation support only, and any hardware problems encountered must be resolved under a service request in accordance to the product's warranty terms.

Upon receiving purchase confirmation, an IBM engineer will contact you and agree on the date and time to perform the setup and installation of the machine, within the conditions of the option purchased.

An SSR will perform the setup and installation of the eligible product in accordance with the IBM-approved installation requirements.

Note: The Genie lift tool feature EB3Z with lift plate feature EB4Z are optional to install and set up the supported machines. If you previously purchased these features, they should be available for the SSR to use.

Media Retention

Media Retention offers clients the ability to retain defective media, such as hard drives and flash drives, that are being replaced (dependent on machine).
