IBM Cloud Pak® for Integration offers a powerful integrated platform for deploying containerized integration capabilities as part of a Red Hat® OpenShift® deployment environment. By making use of Cloud Pak for Integration, an organization can connect applications, systems, and services together quickly and simply, as part of a managed, controlled, scalable, and security-rich environment.

Cloud Pak for Integration 2021.4.1 includes the following enhancements and new capabilities:

Included in Cloud Pak for Integration are the following foundational IBM integration offerings that deliver integration capabilities as entitled and included features under the single integrated interface:

  • IBM App Connect Enterprise
  • API Connect
  • IBM Aspera® High Speed Transfer Server
  • IBM DataPower® Gateway Virtual Edition
  • IBM Event Streams
  • IBM MQ and IBM MQ Advanced
  • Cloud Pak for Integration features also available in other IBM Cloud Pak offerings:
    • Robotic Process Automation (RPA) platform
    • RPA environment
    • RPA unattended bot
    • Process Mining

Entitlement to Cloud Pak for Integration enables organizations to choose to use one or more of the existing separate integration offerings, as well as the integrated capabilities within the offerings. This flexible approach enables organizations to modernize their infrastructure over time without disrupting their existing deployed environment.

Event Endpoint Management entitlement option based on API calls

With Cloud Pak for Integration 2021.4.1, organizations can choose to use the IBM Cloud Pak for Integration API Calls Resource Value Unit option for entitlement of Event Endpoint Management. Using the AsyncAPI protocol to let API calls be made against Kafka stream histories, organizations can subscribe to the number of API calls per month they plan to make for their Event Endpoint Management use case. Organizations then purchase the number of Resource Value Units needed to align with the number of API calls for their AsyncAPI use case. Organizations must also have a minimum entitlement of one Cloud Pak for Integration virtual processor core.

Additional enhancements for API test generation

Building on the enhancements in earlier releases, new features are added to Cloud Pak for Integration 2021.4.1 to make the API test generation more useful in order to provide better outcomes. Test cases can now be set up and taken down more easily, reducing the time and effort required. Additionally, the top three test cases are now shown to the user. These are ranked by the API call occurrences and the completeness of the test case coverage. This ranking helps provide the user with a better level of confidence that the APIs are being robustly and effectively tested. Finally, the IBM ’s Watson AI offering can use more of the available data to build test cases, which can reduce the development time further and improve the efficiency of testing by making use of this real-world data.

Additional support for deployment on Linux on IBM Z IFL hardware

Cloud Pak for Integration 2021.3.1 delivered refreshed support for deployment of on Linux on IBM Z hardware. Cloud Pak for Integration 2021.4.1 also includes Cloud Pak for Integration Automation Assets and App Connect Designer as components that can be deployed on Linux on IBM Z hardware.

Support for deployment on Power systems

In Cloud Pak for Integration 2021.4.1, the following components are supported for deployment on Red Hat OpenShift on Power systems: MQ and MQ Advanced, App Connect runtime, App Connect Designer, Event Streams, Platform Navigator, and App Connect Dashboard. Support for this new deployment environment provides another choice for organizations as to where to run their business.

License Use Management updates

Cloud Pak for Integration 2021.4.1 introduces an integrated License Use Management feature that can help your organization improve software management by helping you make data-driven license asset management decisions. This feature measures IBM software licenses and license deployments and displays the data to your organization in a dashboard on IBM Software Central.

Benefits:

  • Manage license deployment across your organization with greater transparency to proactively ensure license compliance
  • Allocate license resources to specific departments, projects, applications, or other internal organizations to right-size procurement, and identify overutilization or underutilization
  • Plan for future license needs based on historical usage data
  • Gain greater insight into software environments

Cloud Pak for Integration 2021.4.1 is also enabled to report on the license usage deployment across your organization using the License Use Management, License Service, and License Reporter services to proactively enable license compliance and generate license usage reports within your organization without the need to integrate and manually upload data to the Software Central Usage Metering dashboard.

Benefits of License Usage Management using Software Central:

  • Aggregates IBM software license data using a License Use Management feature
  • Can deploy and configure a Red Hat OpenShift Certified Operator from the Red Hat Marketplace to submit usage data for visualization in a unified dashboard
  • Helps identify and display VM-based IBM software deployments, letting you evaluate which workloads may be most suitable for modernization and then deployment into containers
  • Provides customized tagging of license deployments to specific departments or projects

The information provided in this announcement letter is for reference and convenience purposes only. The terms and conditions that govern any transaction with IBM are contained in the applicable contract documents such as the IBM International Program License Agreement, IBM International Passport Advantage® Agreement, and the IBM Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance.

This product is available only through Passport Advantage.

Licensing

IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Information document and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs are required for all authorized use. Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage®, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance.

This software license includes Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance).

Software Maintenance

Licenses under the IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA) provide for support with ongoing access to releases and versions of the program. IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available. Two charges apply: a one-time license charge for use of the program and an annual renewable charge for the enhanced support that includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours), as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect.

Limited warranty

IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified operating environment, it will conform to its specifications. The warranty applies only to the unmodified portion of the program. IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the program or that IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible for the results obtained from the use of the program.

IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information on known program defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at no additional charge. For further information, see the IBM Support Guide.

IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the original licensee acquires the program (warranty period).

Program technical support

Technical support of a program version or release of a specific program within this offering will be available as long as:

  • The program is still supported
  • Your Software Subscription and Support for this offering is in effect

This technical support allows you to obtain assistance (by telephone or electronic means) from IBM for product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and operation of the program product. Software Subscription and Support also provides you with access to updates (modifications or fixes), releases, and versions of the program. You will be notified, through an announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with 12 months' notice.

If you require additional technical support from IBM for any individual program within this offering, contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner.

Money-back guarantee

If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its PoE to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whom you acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.

For clarification, note that (1) for programs acquired under the IBM International Passport Advantage offering, this term applies only to your first acquisition of the program and (2) for programs acquired under any of IBM's On/Off Capacity on Demand (On/Off CoD) software offerings, this term does not apply since these offerings apply to programs already acquired and in use by you.

Product upgrades provide the latest versions and releases to entitled software, and Technical Support provides voice and electronic access to IBM support organizations, worldwide.

IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support with each program license acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available.

While your Software Subscription and Support is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions, and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance by telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to your users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For additional details, see the IBM Support Guide. Software Subscription and Support does not include assistance for the design and development of applications, your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment, or failures caused by products for which IBM is not responsible under the applicable agreements.

Unless specified otherwise in a written agreement with you, IBM does not provide support for third-party products that were not provided by IBM. Ensure that when contacting IBM for covered support, you follow problem determination and other instructions that IBM provides, including in the IBM Support Guide.
