IBM® i clients running in an IBM Power® Virtual Server require a robust backup solution compared to physical tape or a virtual tape library (VTL) hardware appliance. IBM now offers the integration of Dynamic Solutions International (DSI) Restore, the world-class deduplicating backup and recovery VTL software solution, within the Power Virtual Server.

IBM offers clients an integrated Power Virtual Server VTL option for self-provisioning and billing. The VTL software solution can be deployed into your Power Virtual Server account using similar methods as with any other Linux® partition, enabling you to have complete control over VTL management.

Based on the same software platform as DSI's superior enterprise VTL hardware appliance, DSI Restore VTL software runs in a Power Virtual Server and scales from terabytes (TB) to petabytes (PB) of backup data. Licensed per TB, DSI Restore can be a good fit for both small businesses and global enterprises.

DSI Restore features:

  • Tape emulation
  • iSCSI target support
  • Management interface
  • Integration with common IBM i backup and recovery tools
  • May archive to cloud storage

DSI Restore benefits:

  • Nondisruptive to existing IBM i backup processes
  • Replication, export, and recovery integration
  • Policy based off-site data copy and movement, allowing clients to define dedupe and replication rules per tape volume
  • Data encryption at rest and in flight
  • Enables disaster recovery operations and testing
