The InfoSphere Global Name Management

The InfoSphere Global Name Management product is an innovative suite of name analysis and name scoring technologies that are designed to address the specific needs and demands of managing, searching, scoring, and matching multicultural name data sets. Unlike most traditional name analysis software, which is built for name data assets in western cultures using the Roman alphabet, the InfoSphere Global Name Management product is tailored to meet the unique demands of managing data sets from cultures as diverse as Anglo/European, Arabic, Chinese, Hispanic, French, German, Indian, Korean, Pakistani, Russian/Slavic, Thai, Japanese, Western African cultures, and more. InfoSphere Global Name Management supports multiple methods of customization, providing users with ways of tuning search results to fit their specific name matching requirements.

The product draws on a unique knowledge base of global linguistic data that is built from nearly a billion names gathered from around the world, integrated with more than 30 years of linguistic research and analysis of those names. Working from this knowledge base, the InfoSphere Global Name Management product leverages culture-specific name data statistics to produce fact-based name analysis that supports search/match and scoring techniques designed for the cultures of the names being processed. InfoSphere Global Name management is a name matching solution that is SAFETY Act certified by the US Department of Homeland Security.

IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight

InfoSphere Identity Insight 10 is a powerful identity and social network analysis platform that combines pioneering identity and relationship disambiguation technology with innovative event processing capabilities to quickly and automatically provide insight for threat and fraud analysis. For data to be useful, it must be put into context. By examining relevant individuals, their relationships, and their actions, InfoSphere Identity Insight 10 can produce robust data on a person's identity, relationships, activities, and behavior by employing:

  • Identity matching. After InfoSphere Identity Insight 10 determines that two or more identities are the same, it integrates the multiple records into a single entity and assigns a unique identifier. All of the data about the person or organization stays with this new identifier. Additionally, the platform can help you identify the source records that provide the original information.
  • Thorough relationship network analysis. InfoSphere Identity Insight platform uses the entity data that is generated during the previous step to learn whether people are, or ever have been, related in any way.

InfoSphere Identity Insight 10 uses an advanced transaction analysis method called complex event processing to gain a clear picture of entity activity and entity network activity based on transactional data. This process is designed to mine the overall information landscape in near-real time, showing all of the associations and occurrences that involve the same person or a group. If a questionable situation or pattern is detected, the system proactively generates alerts.

InfoSphere Global Name Management enhancements

The InfoSphere Global Name Management product enables users to manage, search, analyze, and compare multicultural name data sets by leveraging culture-specific name data and linguistic rules. InfoSphere Global Name Management:

  • Leverages a unique linguistic-based approach that is based on more than 30 years of research to address the needs of managing personal and business names from all over the world
  • Conducts knowledge-based name matching that considers every name, which greatly reduces false negatives and false positives
  • Performs name matching against lists and other data sources and provides likely variations
  • Scores and ranks results by leveraging linguistic-based search capabilities that consider similarity of pronunciation to identify matches as well as cultural variations
  • Identifies and classifies the cultural heritage, country of association, gender, and parsing of a name, allowing for actionable business decisions
  • Handles transliteration from Arabic, Cyrillic, Greek, Hangul (Korean), and Kana (Japanese), which includes both Hiragana and Katakana, Hanzi (Chinese) and Devanagari (Indian), and Eastern European scripts such as Hungarian, Czech, and Polish

New in Version 7:

  • Improved search results with new parsing of Southwest Asian names. Parsing of Southwest Asian names now separates the ism (given name) from the nasab (patronymics) with a new algorithm that improves name matching behavior.
  • Enhancements to SOAP and REST APIs. Both SOAP and REST APIs have been streamlined, with fewer methods and more optional parameters. Two new methods for searching (searchName) and pair-wise name comparison ( compareNames ) simplify these tasks and reduce the number of calls needed to provide useful results.
  • Updated transliteration of Arabic names. Transliteration of Arabic script has been updated to use the most common versions of known names.
  • Updated Arabic name variants. Arabic name variants have been updated to include less common versions of known names, improving scoring behavior.
  • Extended custom culture data. The capability to extend custom culture overrides and rules has been added, enabling both overrides and rules to include existing data.
  • New categorization rules. New categorization rules (CatRules.ibm) provided as an available replacement for categorization rules in earlier releases. The new rules generate fewer errors on personal names and recognize a wider range of organization names.
  • Name variant generation can be customized. User-defined name variant overrides for name variant generation may now be provided.
  • Additional support for Korean transliteration. A secondary transliteration module for Korean names (koreanMRTransRule.ibm) has been added to provide the McCune-Reischauer form of transliteration.
  • Site-specific name-frequency data Individual implementations may now extend or override the built-in name frequency information used by Global Name Management when performing parsing, classification, or genderization operations.

IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight enhancements

IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight 10 includes the Identity Insight Explorer application. This application enables analysts to research entities and entity relationships, and to research the disposition of role-based and event-based alerts.

The improved security model enables better security through Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) integration and IBM WebSphere® Application Server Liberty security profiles. All InfoSphere Identity Insight applications and plug-ins now recognize the WebSphere Liberty basic authentication model, which can be configured to work with other authentication providers.

All InfoSphere Identity Insight applications work with an extended SOA/Web Services layer, which has been updated with new configuration and alerting services. These components are powered by the IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty Runtime, which provides an extendable security model for integration into third-party authentication services, offers much faster startup and stop times, and represents the current WebSphere technology.

Other performance improvements and feature upgrades include:

  • A new configuration console simplifies the configuration of InfoSphere Identity Insight by combining many earlier configuration screens into streamlined interfaces (complete with embedded user assistance).
  • The thin-client graph application includes new call-out features to show the key entity information.
  • Performance improvements for EnhancedQuery, disclosed relationship processing, and passive-load. Includes support for Linux® on Power Series®.
