Improve response times and outcomes

To understand the benefits of fast file transfer, imagine the example of a local police department. The department wants to improve its response time and provide officers with all the data they need to resolve situations safely and effectively.

To do this, the department needs to be able to quickly and reliably exchange critical information in real time, including incident status updates and officer locations, between field officers, central command and other parts of the organization.

Identify emergency situations

At 2:37 PM local time, multiple calls begin to come in to dispatch. The volume and location data triggers an instant alert within the analytics system at central command, which identifies that the calls are coming from within a three-block radius, signaling the potential severity and urgency of the situation.

Locate and dispatch nearby officers

Dispatchers quickly identify all available field officers within close proximity to the incident and immediately dispatch them to the scene.

Responding officers receive a reliable, security-rich incident report. Status updates are automatically sent as new information comes in, enabling officers on the scene to respond appropriately as the situation evolves.

Track officers and view bodycam footage in near real-time

Location data for officers is relayed back to central command in real time, helping leaders coordinate the larger effort and keep the officers safe.

High-speed data transfer technology is used to reliably stream live video feeds from officer bodycams in near real-time over mobile networks that use lossy compression techniques, without interfering with other time-critical message queues. Central command can identify where to dispatch additional officers and support, without relying on individual officers responding to radio calls.

Review data and improve processes

After the emergency is resolved, the department decides to use the case for training purposes in order to improve its response time and effectiveness. By using an enterprise messaging solution in concert with a high-speed data transfer solution, the central command center can do more than simply track the situation—it can reliably capture an integrated record of action and related data.

This approach provides leaders with tools and information that can be used to meet departmental objectives and show measurable improvements in incident outcomes. Process improvements help the department do an even better job of ensuring public safety.
