Deprecation of Application Management on November 1, 2018
Application Management was added to early versions of the IBM SDK for Node.js buildpack in IBM Cloud to provide utilities that help to debug, monitor, and SSH into a running application. In the time since Application Management was introduced, IBM Cloud and the SDK for Node.js buildpack have evolved, and these capabilities are now integrated into the buildpack and IBM Cloud platform.
As a result, we are deprecating the Application Management feature, and it will eventually be removed. With the removal of Application Management, your Node.js droplet will be smaller so your push times to the cloud could become shorter. Due to the fact that everything you could do with Application Management can be done with other built-in management methods, you get a leaner, faster-to-deploy runtime without any loss of functionality.
The SDK for Node.js buildpack will continue to contain the Application Management feature for 30 days. After November 1, 2018, the next release of the IBM SDK for Node.js buildpack will remove Application Management. For information on how to replicate Application Management’s functionality, see Managing Liberty and Node.js apps.
