Bamboo Rose and IBM Increase Process Efficiency for Retailers

2 min read

While Black Friday and December may be when a large number of retail transactions occur, mid-January is when innovation is top of mind for retailers.

The National Retail Federation (NRF) conference will be held January 15-17, 2023, in New York City, showcasing the latest solutions to help retailers overcome challenges in the industry, including inflation, talent shortages and supply chain issues.

A large part of this discussion will be focused on intelligent automation. IBM and our partners have helped a wide variety of retail and consumer solutions clients increase agility, reduce costs, increase productivity, accelerate business processes while reducing errors and drive revenue growth.

Bamboo Rose and IBM Operational Decision Manager

Bamboo Rose, an IBM Partner, helps retailers increase process efficiency in product development, sourcing and supply-chain operations by digitizing collaboration and transaction between retail brands and their supplier community. More than 50,000 companies and 250,000 users are engaged on the platform today, with goods valued at over USD 1 trillion flowing through the platform annually.

Their industry-leading, multi-enterprise platform helps retailers discover, develop and deliver great products to market as efficiently and cost effectively as possible. Its offerings include a B2B marketplace and business process applications, including product lifecycle management, global sourcing, purchase order management and global trade management. Bamboo Rose has helped American Eagle streamline its complex global sourcing processes, optimized vendor management for the Loblaw grocery store chain and helped Kaufland improve supplier discovery and reduce PO processing costs, among others.

Bamboo Rose’s offerings are powered by IBM Automation decision management technology, which they obtain via an embedded service agreement.

IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM) is the engine that enables our customers to automate their business processes across their entire supply chain—from product development, sourcing and production to delivery,” says Kamal Anand, CTO, Bamboo Rose.

A few highlights of how Bamboo Rose uses ODM:

  • Determining project timelines: As new product development cycles are initiated, Bamboo Rose—with the embedded IBM ODM engine—intelligently assigns the right project timelines and milestones based on various product attributes.
  • Identifying and assigning tasks: At any given instance, the Bamboo Rose platform is monitoring thousands of different events and workflow tasks across the entire community. As these events occur, Bamboo Rose automates the subsequent task creation, task assignment and further actions required to progress the projects.
  • Matching invoices with payments: Trade management solutions use IBM ODM to automatically match-supplier submitted invoices for payments. Bamboo Rose is the only platform that enables five-way match to the invoices using purchase orders, packing lists, ASNs, BOL and warehouse receipts.
