The release of Db2 11.5.5

In addition to the launch of IBM Db2 on Cloud Pak for Data on Red Hat Marketplace, IBM surpassed a major milestone with the release of Db2 11.5.5 — a completely new Red Hat Operator-based deployment model for Db2. This new release is a significant advancement in improving the customer experience for Db2 installation and management.

Operators automate the creation, configuration, and management of instances of Kubernetes-native applications on Red Hat OpenShift. Red Hat Marketplace is an open cloud marketplace that makes it easier to discover and access operator-certified software for container-based environments in public clouds and on-premises deployments.

IBM Db2 has gone through the extensive Red Hat Marketplace operator certification, and customers can now download the Db2 Community edition on Red Hat Marketplace. It is a completely free edition of Db2 with unrestricted capabilities for an unlimited duration. It has a limitation of four virtual processor cores and 16 GB of instance memory.

When customers are ready to purchase the licensed and supported Db2 editions — Db2 Standard and Db2 Advanced editions — all they need to do is to apply the license activation key to unlock the limitations of the Community edition. Unlocking the limitations grants users the support they need for their production environments.

The Red Hat Marketplace Db2 product page has numerous resources for IBM Db2 on Cloud Pak for Data, along with detailed install and configuration guide and it is completely free to try.
