The IBM Cloud Pak® for Multicloud Management enables organizations to securely manage applications, no matter how they are designed or where they are deployed.
The Cloud Pak for Multicloud Management is a set of open, pluggable tools built around a core application and governance model. This core architecture helps organizations model applications and application dependencies, manage the life-cycles of both applications and infrastructure, consistently govern and secure applications and their deployment models, and deliver observability for the application’s full stack.
Do more with expanded infrastructure management capabilities
IBM Cloud Pak for Multicloud Management – Infrastructure Management is based on the previous release of Red Hat® CloudForms® 5.0. Infrastructure Management provides a cornerstone capability for the Cloud Pak for Multicloud Management and gives clients enhanced capabilities to manage their complete hybrid IT lifecycle. For IBM Cloud Pak clients, we offer you the ability to seamlessly manage VM-based applications — whether on-prem or in the cloud — alongside cloud native and Kubernetes-based applications. Bringing these together, you are now able to improve IT operational efficiency with automation, unified governance enforcement, cost optimization, and total observability — no matter where you choose to run your applications.
Manage your costs with the new Chargeback dashboard
The new Chargeback dashboard includes utilization, reporting, and chargeback data, providing cost management that analyzes costs based on usage of infrastructure. The dashboard includes the capability to define cost models based on metered IT resource utilization or allocation and associated custom rate cards. It also provides the capability to define chargeback reports that can be used to internally allocate costs to business units or rebill/recharge external clients.
In addition, Infrastructure Management has added support for OpenShift 4.x, Kubernetes, and Google Compute Engine providers.
Easily install Infrastructure Management with operators
IBM Cloud Pak for Multicloud Management – Infrastructure Management is delivered as an operator-based, containerized installation and a virtual machine appliance. OpenID-Connect (OIDC) Authentication support is added for both the appliance and containerized instances. The operator-based install introduces a containerized form of installing the Cloud Pak for Multicloud Management – Infrastructure Management with operators. This new approach allows for multiple install options, both online and offline.
Oversee VMs and clusters in a single environment
IBM Cloud Pak for Multicloud Management's new hybrid application model extends to its application management capabilities. This enhanced application model supports application resources that run on Kubernetes and other platforms, including containers, virtual machines, and cloud services.
This translates to capabilities like application discovery and assembly to give you the ability to automatically detect application resources on your managed clusters and assemble them as hybrid applications on your hub cluster.
If you are new to IBM Cloud Pak for Multicloud Management or are upgrading from an earlier version, this capability can help you quickly get started with creating and managing your applications. As part of the enhanced hybrid application capabilities, you can now integrate your application management with the optional Infrastructure Management module. When you install the Infrastructure Management module, any VM services that you create in the module can be detected by the application management functions. The various application management dashboards in the console can then display high-level details for your VM services that support hosting your hybrid applications.
