Advanced Notice for Disruptive Maintenance is Increasing

After listening to our customers, we are making adjustments to our disruptive maintenance policies.

We make every attempt to limit the amount of disruptive, required maintenance for our Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offerings. A significant amount of our maintenance is deployed in a non-disruptive manner behind the scenes so that we can limit the impact to your business. However, when disruptive maintenance is necessary, we strive to provide as much advanced notice as possible. After listening to you, our customers, and evaluating standards throughout the cloud industry, we are making adjustments to our disruptive maintenance policies.

Platform as a Service (PaaS) Public Region Offerings

On 1 April 2019, we announced that the advanced notice for PaaS disruptive maintenance in our public regions (Washington, DC; Dallas; London; Frankfurt; Sydney; and Tokyo) was increasing from a minimum of 1 to 3 business days. In response to our customers’ needs, we are once again increasing the advanced notice for disruptive maintenance that impacts our PaaS offerings.

Effective 1 September 2019, we will be increasing our advanced notice for PaaS disruptive maintenance in our public regions from 3 business days to 7 business days. The following table illustrates our updated commitment to you.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Offerings

Due to the nature of our IBM Cloud Infrastructure offerings, we provide a more detailed set of guidelines for planned maintenance advanced notice. As you can see in the following tables, effective 1 September 2019, we are increasing the advanced notice by 7 days for maintenance that has a moderate to significant potential of causing an impact to your IaaS services.
