Smart Dubai strives to create a smarter, happier city by revolutionizing the way government services are delivered. Between its launch in 2014 and the end of 2017, the city tackled more than 100 projects, delivering more than 1,000 digital government services through 24 agencies and private sector organizations.

For Smart Dubai, AI and blockchain technologies hold tremendous potential to transform municipal government and create a happier, more prosperous city. Using the IBM Watson Assistant (formerly Watson Conversation) service, Smart Dubai launched a chatbot that can guide people through the process of setting up a new business—details such as getting a license, obtaining approval from the city, finding funding and navigating zoning issues. In a broad Dubai Blockchain Strategy, Smart Dubai envisions creating an integrated digital layer for all city transactions in both the public and private sectors.
