The digital age brought PLM to a crossroads. The small healthcare sciences publisher in Latin America realized that it needed another element to complete its business transformation and to continue growing. PLM wanted to not only share its compiled healthcare information with the rest of the Spanish-speaking world, but also learn from that data, anticipate questions medical professionals might ask and provide valuable consulting services for customers. PLM deployed a solution that collects and analyzes structured and unstructured content from documents, emails, databases, websites and other enterprise repositories. By accessing a platform that crawls and imports content, parses and analyzes content, and creates a searchable index, organizations can perform text analytics across all of the enterprise data collected by the PLM solution and have it available for search and analysis.
The solution transforms data regarding roughly 35,000 pharmaceutical remedies into algorithms that can process in natural Spanish language—along with scientific, health and medical languages—and then adds that information to a global network of health knowledge that doctors and healthcare workers can access.

In 2013, PLM launched its first database to the market in Mexico. It took two years to compile the data using a manual process. The cognitive solution, once trained, can read and understand the information contained in millions of databases in just several seconds.
The solution completely changes PLM’s business model, moving it beyond a print-based process to digital and cognitive models. With it, PLM is gaining new customers and increasing revenue.
